My favorite memory of The Range was from the day after my birthday party last year. A friend was staying over and we both woke up severely worse for wear and, you know what it's like, you need grease.
We both downed as much water and tea as we could handle and then set off to The Ranch which is approximately a two minute walk from my house. Three hours later (hungover time is different) we arrived.
The reason I love The Ranch is that it is not a chippy van, nor it it a take away, nor even a restaurant - It's more of a hatch. The man in the hatch can do wonders with sausage, egg and bacon! We each ordered tea, a breakfast bap and some cold orange juice to help fight the dehydration. My friend couldn't believe the prices as she is from London and used to handing over her life savings for very little.
The guy serving is full of banter and was winding us up about the state we were in. He was telling us that he gets a lot of the morning after the night before trade as well as truckers and workmen. He was really nice and we felt more alive after our chat.
The food was good, if not a little dry. There is no inside seating, only some park benches right next to the main road. I think he should get a bin beside them because after we were seated and we had eaten our grub it seemed like such a hike back to the hatch to dump our stuff. We did the right thing though, unlike other people who just chucked their rubbish on the grass!
Great place for breakfast items or chips on the run. Cheap, friendly and fast. I think it sorted out my hangover no end. read more
