A huge shout out to your Agent Bonnie Campbell! She is an amazing and friendly Agent. She does go the distance. Not only was she there every step of the way, but she provided us with the best home inspectors. The home inspection was a detailed written report to include very clear color photos and videos. Our contractor was able to work directly off the report as well. Without Bonnie's detailed assistance and going that distance my wife and I would have ended up with a money pit. The property and house was beautiful on the outside, but the bones of the house exposed disaster. Thank you Bonnie once again. You are an amazing Agent! read more

Awful. My wife and I rented from these shmucks and boy are they something. For starters when you move out, you can only use the very limited services to offer for move out, which are the WORST and literally started up by halfa** people. Keep in mind that you have to pay for these services which was not even done before we moved in. Also, they are not educated on Military legal issues. Had to have my Chief get involved when I got orders to leave. They are probably wonderful if you have them managing your property because you stiff your renters with issues YOU should be handling. Mary Plunkett comes off as very sweet and caring to make the commission. However, she is very negligent in doing due diligence to make sure the customer is taken care of, in my wife and I's experience. We requested that she verify certified contractors were used for negotiated repairs, she failed to do so. We went with her recommended inspector and VA appraiser I highly do not recommend that! Get your own inspector and appraiser I do feel here in the 75 area military families are often taken advantage of and this was definitely one of those times less than a month after moving in the cosmetic touchups that the previous owners had done started to wither away and the real problems came out like a roof issue that the inspector should have noticed or a termite issue that the VA absolutely would not have approved the loan for. She did not do her due diligence on our behalf and we are continuing to uncover more and more issues. It has truly become a money pit thanks to her! I would highly recommend that you all find someone else. I would post pictures if the site allowed. When we reached out to her for the inspector, adjuster, and previous sellers information a couple of weeks after closing she was very rude and dismissive since she had already made the commission & took our money. read more

We would go weeks with broken appliances. Instead of calling everyone on the lease, they would call one person DURING working hours and that would be the end of it. We'd have to reach out multiple times to get something fixed. Our leasing agent was rude and a very bad communicator. 1/10 would NOT recommend this company to do business with. They told me a property was pet friendly so I got a $100 money order for application fees, THEN they changed their story and said the property was not pet friendly.... We listed our rental with The Real Estate Group, specifically Cristie Braemer, after a horrendous experience with another property management company. We had very low expectations due to our previous experience, but have been pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of Cristie and this company. The communication has been excellent, and our home has been rented successfully. They conduct inspections and update us with pictures so we can see for ourselves any issues. My husband & I have just started our home search. We're fairly new to the area. We have been checking out neighborhoods. We saw a nice home that we WERE very interested in so I called the realtor ( Pam Johnson ). First of the house was filthy & it has list price of $425k. When we entered the FROG it was extremely evident that a squatter is staying there. It's apparent no on is keeping an eye on the property. My husband & I was conversing with the realtor. She did not seem to be knowledgeable about home finance. My husband is bank auditor & therefore part of his job is auditing mortgages. She also made a snide remark insinuating that she didn't believe we could afford the home. We wouldn't have been looking at it if we couldn't afford it. So after this experience as we continue our home search we WILL stay away from this agency. Our encounter left a bad taste. My husband is still fuming over this & that was 3 days ago. He felt extremely insulted by the realtor. After all of this I wouldn't take the house is it was given to me. The proof of a squatter is unnerving and def makes the home highly unattractive. We use Lisa Chandley at The Real Estate Group to manage our property and she's been nothing short of terrific. She helped us find great tenants for the house and has remained very attentive to us and also to our tenants. She has kept us apprised of issues every step of the way. She has even occasionally shared a new photo of the front garden that she had taken to assure us everything was looking great. As I have seen with other homeowners, we rest easy knowing that our house and our tenants are being looked after in a professional and organized manner. I also have to give The Real Estate Group an extra boost. When we first signed up, we had a bad experience with another agent (that agent is no longer with The Real Estate Group). TREG was not legally obligated to rectify the problem, but did so anyway, turning a negative experience into a positive one and offering up Lisa to manage our property. We have had the privilege of working with Cristie Braemer since July. She is the Property Manager on our home in a prestigious Virginia Beach community. Following a difficult move-out by former tenants leaving our property in need of much repair before a new tenancy, Cristie was on top of all of it! She worked diligently scheduling all necessary work, meeting with contractors when necessary, updating us on the progress with written and photographic reports, and finally securing a well-qualified new tenant. Because we live in a different state, we couldn't have done it all without her! We highly recommend Cristie Braemer for anyone in need of a well-qualified, hard-working Property Manager! If there was a way to rate 0 STARS I would give it. My wife and I just recently moved from Yokosuka Japan to the Hampton Roads Area. We tried many times to call their office to no avail from 9:00 am to 12:00. So we decided to drive to their office and speak with someone in person. Upon entering we at first encountered a nice receptionist who guided us next door to the management office. Now this is where things got bad. I walked in and was immediately met with a very rude and disrespectful lady in the front office who said one sentence sternly which was "Look at that wall that's what we have available nothing more." As I began to ask a question she interrupted me and again repeated her previous question then took a phone call as I began to ask another question. If your looking for a place look elsewhere!!! If your looking to buy perhaps they'd be better at that. If not I have no idea how they stay in business!!! read more

My husband and I own a home in the area and decided to rent it out when we received orders elsewhere 2 years ago. We interviewed several property managers, and in the end went with Lori and Larry Porter with the Real Estate Group. They have always been very quick and responsive with emails, phone calls or other communications - replying to messages within minutes, or hours at the longest. They have been flexible in providing us with maintenance quotes and letting us decide who we work with when performing work on the house, answering any question we have and providing a clear line of communication with our tenants. They have always outlined pros and cons to any major decision about the property and provided support in whatever decision we make. We've appreciated their insight when it comes to making decisions about the property and tenants, and trust their professional opinions. I dealt with this company as a renter. I lived at the property for a year and a half, paid my rent on time and was late only one month due to the hurricane Sandy post office delivery failure. During my stay at the condo, the property management staff was quite responsive to maintenance orders, however, during move-out I experienced the following issue. The management had promised to wave a one-time late fee of $105 over the phone, however, when it came time to return my security deposit, the management could not recollect the conversaiton. After eventually agreeing to return the remainder of the deposit, the management disappeared. No returns of e-mails or any other communication! According to VA laws, the deposit is due within 45 days of the move-out, it has been 56 days so far and I amd still in the dark. I would not deal again with them nor would recommend to friend. Their professionalism and legal dealings leave much to be desired! read more

Not a good experience. Since day one renting through them has been filled with sub par service, and ineptitudes that should not happen. Our represntive doesn't answer his phone or retun calls, instead he responds by text. The receptionists at the Chesapeake office is one of the most inhospitable, rude people I have ever met, and not just on occasions, but every time I have to visit the office. And now I have to visit the office every month due to them "never receiving" my rent check one month. I have been mailing rent checks for ten years and I have never had one not delivered. If I owned a rental property I would not use or recommended them. read more

My husband and I rented a home in the Harbour View neighborhood within The Riverfront community. The Real Estate Group was the property management company for this house. In my opinion, THEY WERE THE WORST PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY!! Here are just a few issues we encountered: Prior to moving to the area, we asked the property manager who the utility companies were- she had no idea. On the day we moved in, we discovered the house had never been cleaned or improved from the previous tenant (despite what our lease states). Sadly, because of this, there was an ant infestation. Our property manager told us after a couple weeks, that the house was in this condition because the previous tenants stopped paying rent and moved out. Somehow, that became our problem. After much back and forth, a supervisor finally agreed to have the house cleaned. We lived in the house for 18 months and were excellent tenants. When there were a couple small issues, the property manager was very unaware of how to deal with them, so we usually just dealt with everything ourselves. Our rent was automatic on time every month. When we were moving out we specifically asked to do the home inspection WITH our property manager (Kristen Perecko) so there were no issues. The walk through went great and she said we would have our full security deposit back by the end of the month. SHE LIED. Once we moved out, we had to fight back and forth with incompetent managers at The Real Estate Group to get only a portion of our security deposit back. It's disheartening that good tenants get taken advantage of and mistreated this way. I hope other homeowners and tenants read this review and are warned that these property managers do not care about their client's homes or their tenants! read more
