To honor…read moreour mother's Heavenly Birthday on 4/10, I invited my siblings to join me for brunch at The View on 4/11, at 3 pm. I chose to return because of the delicious food, friendly service, along with the beautiful decor. I bragged on The View and couldn't wait to reconnect and reflect with my siblings. Unfortunately, I immediately noticed a drastic difference when arriving in the parking lot; parking spaces were limited, and there was loud music blaring as my sister and I entered the door. We inquired, and the hostess said there was a baby shower event. The music wasn't from the shower; it was coming from the DJ in the main dining area. The hostess was sweet! She answered all of our questions and ensured we had a comfortable table. We were seated and greeted by our waitress, Kendra. Kendra was kind and attentive. She immediately noticed our reaction to the loud hip-hop music, and she said she'd ask for it to be tuned down. That didn't happen. We ordered our meals and loved them! My big bro had the hot sliders, and it wasn't too spicy. One big sis had the kale salad w/Salmon, my other big sis had mac-n-cheese, and I had the catfish w/grits. We didn't love barely hearing each other speak due to the ridiculously high volume of music. I felt bad for inviting my siblings there on a Saturday afternoon. Clearly, The View appeals to different customers on certain days. However, management should be cognizant of ALL their guests. One of my sisters left with a migraine because of the music. I'll definitely visit again; however, I'll avoid Friday nights and the weekend. You should do the same, especially if you don't intend on ordering a side of "Twerking with explicit music."

We get there and immediately was seated. We were seated right in front of the kitchen area; there were no curtains or wall. Just a big open space. My friend asked could we be seated at a different table due to the smell of the garbage bin on the side of us. The young lady was kind of rude but moved us after 15 minutes. We sat and waited for our server to arrive with water and place our order. We were just sitting there for a while until I finally was able to flag someone over to us. Some guy told us that someone would be right over. Hmm we waited another 20 minutes until someone finally arrived. No hello or sorry for the wait and no water. That should have been my queue to get up and leave. We both ordered the Catfish Platter 2 Catfish fillets and fries. I ordered a side of Kale Salad without the cheese. My kale salad came out with cheese. The food was delicious despite the hiccup on my kale salad. The ambience was ok, service needs improvement and the music was too loud. The owner sent over some complimentary shots for us. The 3 stars are giving for the food.

So, this section of Brookfield has a most interesting history. The land was donated, or sold, by Mrs. Edith Rockefeller McCormick in 1919. The architect chosen to design this building was William Drummond, an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it is very evident inside the building. It originally was for meetings and a primary school. The first classes started on September 21, 1920. It also served as a nondenominational church in the 1920's and 1930's. For over 90 years it has served as a meeting place for groups: concerts; dances; Fourth of July, Christmas, and Halloween celebrations; and family functions. Predating Hollywood, California, in 1987, they, and other representatives from communities sharing the Hollywood name, defeated an effort by the mayor of Hollywood, California to copyright the name for its exclusive use. It is located just west of Riverside-Brookfield High School. The building has a main event room with a lovely fireplace that we totally enjoyed on the wintry night we were there. The original windows are still in place and you can tell you are in a Prairie style building. Available for rental, you bring in your own food and drinks and have the option to rent the kitchen. Tables and chairs are provided. Party on.

I was looking for a fun place to have my daughter's 5th birthday and found the RFCC on Yelp. The…read moreprice was reasonable for everything it included. We got the package that included the pizza, birthday cake and goodie bags. This package included juice and ice cream, table cloths and even a balloon for each child. My kids loved the play land and the kids seemed happy and busy enough. The person in charge of our party was Jean. Jean was amazing!!!!! She led that party like an expert. After the kids played in the play land Jean took them into another room to play some games using the parachute. They play a game of "popcorn" and they sang a song about farm animals. At the end of all that fun my daughter got to sit in the middle of the parachute and pretend she was on a flying carpet! It was so beautiful and she loved it. After the parachute activities, the kids were led to the bathroom to wash their hands and then back to the party room to have some pizza and juice. After they ate the kids were allowed to play a little bit more in the play land. Finally Jean called them out and had them grab their shoes and head back to the table for cake and ice cream. The cake was beautiful and enough for 20 kids. They even had 5 candles for the cake. When the party was over Jean gave the kids a goodie bag and a balloon as they were leaving! She was amazing. The most stress free party in the history of birthday parties. Worth every penny!

More recently, I was here for my best friends baby shower. Pleasant experience like I always remember. Very big and nice space. Plenty of event rooms with stair and elevator access. Front office is very helpful and there is always someone on staff to assist with anything needed. Event rooms have full kitchens which is great. Tables are provided - another huge plus. Also when you party is over you aren't rushed and kicked out! There is parking in their lot or on the streets. It's also located in a safe area. The community center hosts other events that I will definitely check out as well. Reasonable prices and clean, big space make this an awesome event choice.
