This place is horrible. All the negative reviews are true. They have major mouse, pest issues. The comment about the HVAC and water heater being loud is so true, to the point where I can't sleep. Security has been back but for how long? At least now there is a cop tenant so that should help (car noticeable in garage) Giving it a solid 3.5 which rounds to 4 as I enjoyed living here. Now that the 2nd building (Remy 2) is complete and their amenities are either smaller or not opened yet, they come to the 1st building so it's more crowded. Fyi: Garage is still free and accessible by anyone so you pay in rent for " nothing ". The advantage is you can have as many guests over without them being towed and for free. The disadvantage is lack of security as too accessible. They keep sending an email every 6months that it will become payable but it never happened (fyi the building #1 is about 5-6 yrs old old). If I could rate separately: Maintenance :5/5 Management and response: 2.5/5 Cleanliness: 3/5 they do a good job but some tenants just dont clean after themselves and the trash chute gets clogged on weekends Tip: just keep putting a ticket in for anything, pointless to send an email. read more

Lived here for 13 months and there is a lot to comment on. Be advised it looks really pretty, they have this nice design lobby, rooftop, pool, lounge and so on.. However, first let's discuss the security of the building or better put the lack of security of the building. They will tell you "oh, we have an officer who lives on-site and is always on call. Officer Worton" and they leave an unattended police car parked at the base of the parking garage... it doesn't matter because anyone can walk up to the garden area, pool area, parking garage and can easily get into the building. I'm speaking on this because it has happened multiple times in the year we've lived here. People vandalizing the common areas and attempting to break into the first floor apartments. Oh, and the break in's of peoples cars parked in the unsecured garage. They just added a gate but it's only to try to make some extra money from the retail spaces that are slowly being put up. And there is no 24 hour concierge, you'll be lucky if they are there during business hours. Responsiveness from the community managers. Go ahead and try to call in. There is one number that goes to all the management of the property (so you would think you would get an answer right? Wrong). They take quite a while to get to you and when they do it's as if you're bothering them. Oh, but they are super friendly when their trying to get you to sign that lease. The renewal options won't be sent until 2-3 weeks before the end of your lease although they want a 60 days notice to vacant. The dog park is a pity of a dog park, it is not maintained at all. It is a little runway, that the grass barely gets cut and there are so many times where the property does not replenish the dog waste bags. Oh, and the parking lot is shared so you'll see people just coming in parking going to the train or the buildings around The Remy. It is really pretty but don't let that fool you. There are so many better areas in Maryland for less to live in. read more

In the middle of the night, a young man attempts to break into the pool setting the alarm off at 3-3:30 am. As this happens often, we all don't say anything. Around 5 am the same alarm goes off again, this time with the same young man is back. This time with a metal stick, vandelising the entire pool side. Hitting chairs, pushing them over, destroying any piece of furniture. Residents yell at him to leave as it upsets him more he attempts to use his lighter to set a wooden table on fire. Realizing it will take too long. He attempts breaks into the same side apartment twice- people lived there. Not sure as to how BUT HE GOT INSIDE the apartment freely walking around the 1st floor. He ended up at the front desk, blasting music, hitting other things, throwing things etc. He had been there for over 15-20 minutes. Any one or the residents could have been up early or coming in and would have encountered an individual that clearly didn't care if he hurt us. Called the cops most likely along with a few other residents. Did not feel safe WHATSOEVER. We are given key fobs to get in and out or the apartment complexes. Then anybody can walk in? Especially somebody with a possible weapon? We used to have somebody be at the front desk all night, however the Remy without letting the residents know took away the security guard. We told at the beginning of our contract somebody would be there 24/7 and it was a monthly fee apart of our rent. Why weren't you told about this? I've seen a few newer comments touching on security and safety recently. Advising future residents to read these comments. Pick this location to live if it's based off a convenient commute. I have worked in property management and real estate and because of that I am very diligent about reading reviews, visiting the property and just making sure I get a good vibe from the leasing staff. I thought that I had a made a good decision, but now I see that I have not! I have been living at The Remy for 12 months in February and I unfortunately signed a 16-month lease which I am regretting. At first glance the building is beautiful, the lobby smells wonderful and the staff are all smiles and super helpful. All of that couldn't be the furthest from the truth. The lack of upkeep of the building amenities show once you try to enjoy the spaces, the staff are not responsive, and it is not safe. For instance: There are no cue tips on the sticks to play pool, All the TV's never work at the same time, The remote malfunctions and you are not able to turn the channel, The floorboards are dirty and peeling, The cinema room tv/remote are ALWAYS broken!!!! When watching a movie, the room shakes so bad from the terrible subwoofer they have placed inside of a cabinet. Oh, you read that right! Let's get to the safety aspect of the building, shall we?! Most often no one is down at the concierge desk (community host) so people trail behind others into the building. All the "luxury" apartment buildings that I worked in have had 24-hour concierge. For this reason I went down one evening to get a package out of the kiosk and there was some man just standing back by the mailboxes and when he saw me he moved around the next corner and then another corner so I would not see him. Safe? Oh, I guess I am supposed to call the police right when there are a million of "FUNCTIONING" cameras around right? But whose watching them? Another instance there was a man laid out in the gaming room on my floor with cans of beer in the same outfit day after day for weeks. I called down to the office because due to COVID you must make an appointment to speak with the community manager or assistant manager. I did that and told the leasing consultant that it was urgent that I spoke to her and did I get a response? You guessed it.... NOPE! I had to call back down before the end of the day to still not get the property manager but to relay the information. There are supposedly working cameras inside of those rooms. I doubt it! I had to give her time frames when it was happening, and she even went as far as to tell me to take a picture next time or call the police. WTF? This is supposed to be a locked amenity on the floor. How do you think he is getting into this room ma'am? A resident is letting him in the room, or he is a resident that needs to go and lay down in his home and not in an amenity space. We had to one day physically stop them from leaving for the evening to come upstairs and address this issue with him still in the room. They sent an email letting us know that he was a resident and that they have "discussed the proper usage of those rooms for all residents and they will be more mindful". I guess that he was mindful the next few weeks we seen him in there after that conversation. You will move into this building and you will pay for parking (which I advise against). We pay $110 for two cars and daily you will see residents that live in this building that will park in the unmarked spaces (guest parking) and not have to pay a thing. When we moved into this building there was supposed to be towing of vehicles that do not pay for parking and I have witnessed it but once COVID hit in March it was a free for all! People were parking wherever they wanted and there was no consequence but the residents that are still paying for parking constantly is unfair. They could have suspended the fee for paying resident but instead we get threatened and we must continue to pay for parking while they continue to do an "audit" of the cars. How are you going to do that when there is barely ever anyone here and the own community manager is never walking the floors or property? Bottom line: You can get way better from somewhere else for the same price. The staff are unresponsive, and you can send a follow up email and they will make up some excuse that it ended up in their junk folder, the HVAC system is so loud your guest will jump from it cutting on and I could literally go on and on. I am still waiting to receive an email back from my community manger, Jaymie Martin, who was supposed to return on the 4th of January and reach out to me for a face to face meeting. Don't do it! 1. There is no such thing as the "Harkins District". That's LiveBe/The Remy's attempt to rebrand the existing New Carrollton & Lanham area they're also trying to gentrify. 2. Average cost of a one bedroom apartment: - Lanham, Maryland: $1,550; - Washington, DC: $2,234 - Cheapest at The Remy: $1565 - Average at The Remy: $1864 Treat yourself to the convenience of the city for that price. This is where DC's gentrification and Maryland's resistance collide. Been here almost since opening and have finally had enough. LiveBe spent the first year listing Hyattsville as The Remy's location in third-party ads to lure clueless gentrifiers from places like Montana, Iowa and abroad. Residents I met would say The Remy lied during virtual tours that the building is 10 minutes from DC when it's 25+. Scared, mostly White or foreign transplants then moved in and panicked, often calling the police on the Black & Brown people who've been here. Those previous reviews? Except for one trespassing incident in a three-year span, you're reading gentrifiers scared of Black people. Don't be fooled by Black front desk staff or a Latinx grounds crew hired to mask owners, contractors and community "liaisons" who look nothing like and erase the existing Black and Latinx community of Lanham/New Carrollton. When a White transplant/gentrifier has a complaint, an entire building of mostly Black residents gets a notice. But when they break the rules or multiple native/Black residents complain? Crickets. Gentrifiers who realized the scam left at lease end and were quickly replaced with the next gullible fool. But eventually the jig was up. Capacity got low and they were strapped for cash. So now? We're taking Section 8 so of course clientele quickly changed, free parking became $55 & $65, locks changed to require fobs with lockout fees. So despite: - Deceptive invoicing: We found out near the end of our first lease we were charged for 2 cars instead of 1 for 7 months. Emails/calls went ignored until we threatened to sue. LiveBe lied and said they'd make itemized invoices standard but a year later anyone I speak with says they still can't see itemized charges. - 2 entrance doors that malfunction (one since July 2018 and the other Dec. 2019) - A fob system that goes down, leaving entire corridors locked out - Increased security breaches - Amenities that were closed since April and were often down before - No child/family-friendly amenities - 24-hour concierge that's Monday through Friday 10 am - 9 pm-ish - A dog park that, when wet, is a death trap of eroding soil from bulldozed homes (gentrification) - 3-year old promises of fixes - Leasing staff that have been MIA even now as Maryland is reopen ... what IS The Remy is doing? Finally installing the parking garage gates they promised 3 years ago. But not because of the recent increase in vandalism, robberies or break-ins since March, but so they can later charge retail visitors. Oh, and announcing they're breaking ground on Phase II while not responding to calls and emails from several residents of Phase I, some for more than two months.* Go where you're wanted, only stay where you're valued. That's not The Remy. *UPDATE: Fellow residents who've reached out - I'm sorry I can't advise your specific situation, but if you or someone you know suspects discrimination: contact the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights. If you have invoicing, overages or other general business practice complaints: contact the state Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. TLDR: Move here, they do a great job. It's pricey, but it's worth it. This is my second time around living at the Remy. The reason I moved the first time was to save some money and went to a value property nearby. Big mistake. You really do get what you pay for. Thankfully, the Remy welcomed me back with open arms and I've grown an even better appreciation for this community. They do a great job keeping it clean. The amenities are gorgeous! Everyone that comes to visit me thinks it is a resort. I actually appreciate it is not in DC, but it's close enough to go hang in DC and see friends without it being an inconvenience (my gym is downtown and I drive there every day). I also think they do a good job of having events (socially distanced) for residents and making you feel like there is always something going on that you can do if you want to. read more

2 things in a span of 2 weeks: 1. Keypad: it was so easy and convenient for residents to access their doors to get inside their apartment by pressing their passcode in. people enjoyed this until they switched out the pad with a fod key. Now, people have to remember to bring their fod key with them or they will be locked out. 2. Parking - parking was free - now a monopoly: the parking garage had spots marked in 2 categories: resident parking ($60/80) or Unmarked. the garage is completely packed during weekdays from people using the METRO and working in the IRS. but at night, it is spacious. residents had access to freely park anywhere unmarked FREE of charge. NOW, they sent an email to residents that anyone parked from 1 to 5 AM are subject to tow. this targets residents that park on spots that are not marked overnight, as if to force residents to pay $60/$80 EACH month otherwise they get towed! this parking garage has unmarked parking zones that are DOUBLE the amount of reserved parking spots. this sudden decision to threaten its own residents that park in unmarked zones is a clear sign of monopoly. staff is good and the apartment has good common areas, but bad changes recently might be a forecast to a change from a once beloved apartment/community and into a corporate asset of avarice and restraint. read more

It may seem like there are plenty of great qualities about The Remy, but it's truly not as great as it seems. Security: Very incompetent and quite honestly disappointing. The number of time's I've seen the rear entrance to Phase II open is absolutely ridiculous. How useful are the Latch apps when literally anyone can enter the building? Throughout my stay here, plenty of cars have been broken into and airbags have been stolen, including a close friend of mines. What has the Remy done about it? Absolutely nothing. Community: Disturbing. In the middle of the day, I can hear someone's god awful music from my own apartment. It is horrendously obnoxious that I'm forced to hear someone's terrible music at 11am from my own apartment. This problem is especially prevalent in the common areas, where residents are screaming and playing incessantly loud music that disturbs residents in the surrounding apartments. The residents at times can be weird too. A friend of mine was followed by another resident from the elevator to the gym, at which he forcefully requested she give him her phone number and made her feel like her safety was threatened. What an absolutely atrocious and incredibly disgusting occurrence. If this happened once to someone I know, I'm sure this has happened multiple times for other residents. Management: Equally as revolting and negligent as the management from the last apartment complex I lived in, where an 8-year old died in one of the common spaces. The first time I walked into Phase I of the Remy, the lady at the front desk rudely yelled at me for no reason. I've seen better customer service at Spirit Airlines. This luxury apartment has the best and most friendly staff to help making your transition to moving in as best as possible. The Remy is very pet friendly, that has a dog park and pet spa. This is the perfect place for those that work from home. They have Wifi throughout the building, computers for the telecommuters, conference room, 2 club rooms, game room, theater room, gym that's fully equipped with the latest gear, salt water pool, 2 court yards, 2 grilling areas, a connected parking garage with plenty of parking and van service to and from the New Carrollton Metro Station. They have a great maintenance crew to make sure all trouble tickets are handle in a timely manner and housekeeping staff to keep the build looking immaculate. They have a Remy Care Team that helps with creating events throughout the month that unites residents together so you feel more like a family and not just a person that's just renting. read more
