Therapists are fine but I feel like they over schedule as a money grab. Billing is random and nothing is itemized. Also billing dept is IMPOSSIBLE to reach and they never call you back. They failed to ever bill my insurance for some reason and were just charging me directly. read more

I have been attending treatment here for quite a while. I receive online counseling service. I had not been in therapy in over 20 years but I felt I needed to re-engage after much soul searching. I was able to go online and choose my therapist. I chose Mr. Berry. Day one and since then as been a phenomenal experience. Mr. Berry is personable, and professional. He is kind and compassionate, and eased me into my experience of online treatment. I was able to discuss my treatment plan and my progress that was reviewed by both of us. I am very happy with my treatment and experience. Mentally, I am in a much better place and I am feeling better each day. I just wanted to let you all know, Mr. Berry is an excellent therapist that is concerned about my mental health. He is always available and willing to listen and offer his expertise. read more

I had to bring my therapist into the conversation because I wasn't mentally prepared to be yelled at and attacked verbally by their receptionist. They will never give your psychiatrist your messages and claim that they never received your calls or voicemails. What a wonderful experience! I'm so glad I didn't read these negative reviews...They were quick to call me back (1 day later) to schedule a New Patient Appointment. The receptionists were so pleasant, and the reception areas were lovely and calming. I was seen promptly, just a few minutes after my scheduled appointment time. I saw Erika Ingram CRNP, and I couldn't have been happier. Calming and private space. She put me at ease, made me comfortable being able to open up about what was going on. Great balance of conversing with me where I felt heard, but making sure to go thoroughly through questions to best diagnose. She was clear with her observations, medications, what I could expect, side effects, etc. She patiently answered my questions, as this is a new experience for me, using medication. I also compare this to a previous experience with another practice (Family Intervention Practice 1910 Broadway, Baltimore. DON'T!), that truly was terrible. read more

Two years ago, I was searching for a therapist. The negative reviews discouraged me from coming here and I went elsewhere. I wish I looked up who the staff was at the time so I could have come here sooner. I was seeking therapy elsewhere, but I had two therapists quit in less than a year. I needed stability, so I came here hoping that therapist number 6 would be the last one I have to deal with (I had been on and off with therapy since 2007 and gave up on therapy because I felt beyond help). I picked this place because I felt like I had a mental illness that was more severe than just anxiety or depression (the main conditions treated at the other place) as well as feeling like therapy wasn't working for me due to either an underlying condition or the need for a different treatment modality. Armed with the diagnosis of Generalized Anxiety Disorder with emotional regulation issues and social skills problems, I came for my first visit and right away my therapist knew I was neurodivergent in some way. Close to nine months later, not only do I start DBT group, but I receive my autism diagnosis as well. I'm almost done with the DBT program and this is the first time skills I've been taught actually help me as other therapies failed to work for my differently-wired brain. If it wasn't for this place, I would very likely be dead right now. read more

Lisa Swords is AWESOME!! She listens to me when I talk. She always starts by asking how has everything been and how is your medication going. She's so easy to talk to. I am so glad Johns Hopkins referred me to Resource Group. Because she is easy to talk to she explains the medication, how it helps. if I forget how the medication works, She never has a problem with telling me how they work, no matter how many times I may have to ask her. The only downside is Lisa is not a therapist, she only deals with medication management. And that's not a complaint, it's a complement to Lisa's compassion, kindness, and understanding. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Every psychiatrist I have seen here has been the worst experiences of my life. None of them care about you and all they want is to take your money. Mental health means NOTHING to these people and if you value yourself at all, you will go somewhere else. Okay, so I have two opinions on this. 1) Lisa Swords SUCKS!! When I was returning from the hospital, she read me my weight out loud. Keep in mind I suffer from an eating disorder. She told my mom (i was a minor at the time) that if I didn't take everything she prescribed, she wouldn't see me. rude, not empathetic, and only cares about the money. 2) HOWEVER the other experiences I've had with them were good. I did the DBT group twice and it helped me immensely. My therapist there, Marci, is super kind, compassionate and actually gives a crap about me. I've never had anybody care about me like she does. So, bottom line. AVOID LISA SWORDS!!! but one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole tree. i am forever grateful for marci and the DBT i went through. read more

I went in for medicine management and was instead treated like an addict. I have ADD and was successfully treated by adderall for a decade, but Lisa Swords declined to treat me for that. At my intake she said I "looked depressed" and put me on Wellbutrin. At my second appointment when I told her it wasn't helping my ADD she said because of my "addiction history" she wasn't comfortable prescribing it. I reminded her I have no addiction history, and she said "I still don't feel comfortable with it." Fine. Except she then decided to tell me she thinks I have symptoms of depression due to things I said I have on intake. When she listed them they were all things I had clearly said I don't have, like crying spells. I only cry at sad movies. She marked that as a yes. She is incompetent and held things against me for treatment that she marked incorrectly. She works at an addiction treatment center, and presumes everyone is an addict. So don't go to her unless you are an addict because she has no idea how to treat non-addicts. read more

Sad to see all the brain washed patients google reviews about Lisa. She is a drug pusher and does not see you as a patient but simply sees an illness- and wants to have you on as many meds as possible. Rather than actually finding the problem if you go to the resource group you will develop a substance abuse problem without even knowing it and then you will be told that if you stop taking your meds you'll end up in the hospital. The meds that we're supposed to be making me better we're actually making me feel more sick and the solution there was to add more meds- now i am working with a new psychiatrist and my primary and have never felt better- and been on less dangerous schedule 1 and 2 drugs. I was diagnosed with BiPolar disorder 5 years ago and have been through hell trying to find anyone that wasn't just trying to feed me medication for their own pocket. Lisa Swords has been a godsend and I owe her my life. She has been managing my diagnoses for almost two years now and I couldn't be happier! I also see Kelly Saraceno who is a therapist that works with Lisa. They are the most amazing team and I trust them with my life. Kelly is wonderful, laid back, and is helping me work through some very tough emotional issues I've had for years. I highly recommend the two of them!!!! Not to mention everytime I come in to the office I get nothing but warm friendly smiles from the girls at the front. They always brighten my day, they know exactly all my information, very efficient, and quick to check me out and book my next appointments!!!! Stay away from Lisa Swords! She is horrible unethical, condescending, rude and lacks empathy. How this woman works in mental health care is beyond me. She does not listen to patient concerns and merely wants to load you up on heavy duty medications. If you dare to express any concern about the meds, she gets haughty and dismissive, going so far as to tell you if you won't take all the medication she prescribes, she will cease being your practitioner. This was fine by me, as I fired her at that point. The Resource Group needs to look at the reviews by many patients and see the real harm she is doing. It is also impossible to get appointments or actually talk to her, as she constantly overbooks, and then spends maybe 5 minutes with you. Run far away from this arrogant woman. And please, please do NOT take your children to her. I made that mistake, but luckily now have a wonderful practitioner. They are out there, but Lisa is NOT one of them. I have never experienced or heard of a PSYCHIATRIST (or any doctor for that matter) whose soul career is to help people and alleviate their mental and emotional uneasiness do the EXACT OPPOSITE! Her profession is literally support people's mental wellbeing and help them face difficult periods. She couldn't have done any worse of a job. I felt like all she cared about was my $100. Nothing more. What if I was chronic? Suicidal? Truly sick? And she left me, mocked me, and took my $100. Eventually, after a week of fighting her, the bank and even filing a complaining with the Maryland Board of Physicians, she reimbursed the money. I couldn't be any more upset, disturbed or disappointed with this doctor and experience. I hope this is the first, only and last time she has ever treated a mentally unstable patient in such a way. I encourage you to read the story below... I had an absolutely DISGUSTING and HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Lisa Swords, which was so disappointing because I had worked with her for years in the past and highly recommended her to several of my friends and colleagues. I hadn't seen her for a little over a year since I truly thought I was doing better, so the office made me restart as a new patient. This means I had to pay $100 as a new patient to hold my appointment that would be refunded if I showed up. I was just told that I have some serious medical conditions that has resulted in elevated anxiety and lack of sleep. I quickly recognized that I needed her services again. The day of the appointment, I had several other medical appointments that resulted in X-Rays, blood work etc. regarding an autoimmune disease I now have. Mind you, I am 25 years old so totally panicking about these new health issues. I called the office because I knew I was going to be about 5 minutes late. They told me if I am 5 minutes late for my 45 min appointment, Lisa will not see me and she will STILL charge me the $100. In a panic, I speed to make my appointment because I recognize how badly I need to see her. Thinking... the IRONY that a psychiatrist is making my anxiety and emotions so extreme at this time! I arrive at the office at 2:28. Unfortunately, the office changed locations. Sure, perhaps the new patient coordinator may have told me the address but I just assumed it was the old location since he never said we changed from last office and truthfully, I don't even recall hearing the address. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Now I am speeding AGAIN to my appointment. At 3:34 as I am in the office's parking lot, I receive a phone call saying don't bother coming because Lisa is in an emergency where they must call the police. The patient from the prior appointment is still in her room (into my scheduled time). I said I'd wait because I need to see her. They tell me not to wait because there is no way she can see me since they are in such an intense emergency. A few minutes later I get a call saying that she didn't see me because it was my fault for being late (by 4 minutes). They then said they were charging me the $100. This is where it gets good... I begged Lisa to reconsider this based on my recent medical conditions I truly needed her, couldn't be out $100 for all my new co-pays, I explained to her why I was late (being at doctors and getting X-rays). I also explained the phone-call I received saying don't come as I was already there. She literally told me too bad. She chuckled on the phone and said several disturbing and cruel phrases such as, "I don't understand what you're not understanding." "It seems you have a big problem here." "We aren't getting off on the right foot." "Perhaps you should see someone else." And more. She didn't even care that I am a young girl, dealing with a whole lot, can't afford the $100, and truly need her services for my mental well-being. read more

I am so confused by the negative reviews of Lisa Swords. I have found her to be not just professional, but caring and empathetic as well. For years my anti-depressants were prescribed by my primary care doctor. When I went into a terrible spiral of anxiety and depression in 2018, I decided it was time to see a specialist and I made an appointment with Lisa Swords. She literally saved my life. She listened carefully to the problems I was having, evaluated the medications I was currently taking as well as ones I had tried in the past, and then came up with a treatment plan that was designed to target mt specific issues.My entire life I'd suffered from severe anxiety, and Lisa was the first person to explain that my depression was almost certainly an outgrowth of my anxiety. Once we started treating that, it was like a cloud lifted. I would confidently recommend Lisa Swords to any of my friends or family members. read more

I felt the need to leave this review because I checked Yelp before making an appointment with Lisa Swords and thought maybe the negative reviews were just disgruntled patients. They weren't. The Resource Group, as a whole, is not somewhere I will be returning. I just got off the phone with Lisa after having her lose her temper with me because I asked to have a cancellation fee waived. During my first appointment with her, she prescribed a medication that ended up being incredibly expensive but left that part out. When I went to pick it up and found out the cost, I called to see if I could be prescribed something with a generic option. I was told I needed to schedule another appointment because she can't prescribe over the phone. I was frustrated to be paying for another appointment just days after my initial, but I understood. When The Resource Group called to tell me she had a same-day opening, I expressed that it was going to be difficult to make the appointment, but that I would try. This is the point when it would have been very helpful to be informed that the 24-hour cancellation fee would still apply, even though we were just a few hours from the appointment. I called three hours before the appointment when it became clear that I wouldn't be able to make it. I was taken aback at how rude both of the people I spoke with at the front desk became as soon as I canceled. I was informed then that I would be charged $85. I tried to get ahold of Lisa, who did not return my call. I left a message on her line and at the front desk. It was only when I called back again over a week later that I received a callback. Lisa became hostile very quickly when I requested to have the fee waived. If I made the appointment 24 hours ahead, I would completely understand the fee. But being that her office called me to fill an opening in her book and didn't make it clear that I better be there or else I would be charged the hefty fee, I did not feel this was fair. Especially because, being that Lisa did not call me back that day, I'm assuming she filled the appointment. Or she just didn't feel like calling a patient back during that block of time that was now free. Finding mental health providers is already a difficult, time-consuming, expensive process. I am gladly sending a check today to pay the unreasonable fee just so I can be done with Lisa and The Resource Group. The level of unprofessionalism I encountered (which I have been informed by others has been a complaint before with Lisa) was enough to make me decide to wash my hands and start the entire process over again with someone who treats their patients with compassion and respect. read more

This is a very inexperienced place of therapists. I ended up at the resource group because I was in an abusive relationship (which I was unaware of at the time) and the abusive man was triggering me to deadly depression episodes. All the counselor at this place did was encouraging me to stay with the man because he was "so supportive of my 'mental illness'". It wasn't until I crashed my car and met with a real psychologist that I became aware of this abuse. Then when I returned to continue therapy here in hopes to hash out the abuse, regain self confidence, and to feel safe when I leave my home, all the therapist said was "there is nothing to talk about, its over now.".... its not over now I am fearful everyday. Would not recommend for people in need of help. The resource group will only make things worse. read more

I disagree with every single negative review of Lisa. Maybe someone had a bad day or experience. But she doesn't push drugs on me, she doesn't just care about my money or if I'm 3 minutes late, and she isn't abusive of me. She even asks about what other help or therapy I'm getting outside her care to be proactive toward a healthier life. There aren't words to describe how appreciative and thankful I am of her. She is caring and professional. She is kind, honest, and willing to listen and ask questions when necessary. She builds a real relationship with you, so that she may better serve you. She is incredibly genuine and understanding. She explains any and all information about the medications she prescribes. She always returns phone calls for medication issues. Anyone in her care is in the best of hands. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking real help. read more

I left voicemail on 7/6 on behalf of my child and my call was not returned. I left another voicemail on approx. 7/17 and was finally called back on 7/18. The scheduler claimed to have called me back on 7/9 but that was absolutely not true. Waited 2 more weeks for return call before calling again in August, just to be told that they had no availability to help my child. To make matters worse, the scheduler falsely claimed, again, that she had called me back and left a voicemail on 7/23. Very disappointing and no empathy. read more

This review is for the reception/office operations. Completely wasted my time and money. After 5+ years, I decided to finally deal with my ADD. Alot of medication prescribed for ADD cannot to be phoned in, as such you need to pick them up in person and another individual cannot pick it up for you. They supposedly close later on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I confirm what time they close earlier in the day. On my way, there's an accident and gps says I'll get there at 6:58. I call three times around 6:30, to see if somebody will be there. No answer. Go back home and pick up prescription on Thursday. Insurance denies because I've never tried adderall (Friday). I now have to wait until the doc is back in on Wednesday to write the new prescription. I get a call from the office on Wednesday that my prescription is ready and they're open until 7pm. I get there at 6:45. Doors are still open and there's a lady in the waiting area, but nobody in reception. I'm standing for a while and ask the lady if anybody has been there, she says nobody was there when she got there and she hasn't seen anybody back there. A lady comes out with a patient--says their goodbyes. Goes to the reception area makes a copy and hurries pass me as if I don't exist before I can even ask her for help. Another lady comes out with a patient, and again goes to the reception area, I ask if she knows where they keep prescriptions, she brushes me off with a no and says she's just a clinician or something like that. One additional lady comes out and I ask her, she seems like she's trying to find it for a minute or so, but then goes about her business and doesn't acknowledge me when she leaves the reception area. The first lady that came out, comes out again and i ask her if she knows where prescriptions are kept. She said no, and asks if I can come back tomorrow morning -_-. I live and work 40 minutes away, and have back to back meetings throughout the work day, I moved meetings to pick up the prescriptions all three days I made my way to their office. God forbid, I had other issues apart from ADD, or was going out of town. The doctor I saw, doesn't accept insurance. So, I've spent $325 for somebody to confirm I have ADD and two weeks later haven't been able to address the issues. Pissed is an understatement. read more

I am giving a rating of zero for the Nurse Practitioner. My teenage daughter was referred to the Nurse Practitioner, Lisa Swords. I put down a $100 deposit per Lisa's "rules" and waited a month and a half for the appointment. There was no communication from her or The Resource Group to confirm the appointment. I needed to reschedule my appointment and the person that answered the phone said that Lisa was keeping my $100 deposit and that I needed to pay another $100 deposit if I wanted to reschedule. I offered to forfeit half of my deposit $50, since I needed to reschedule and the person that called to leave me a reminder message called the wrong phone number the day before the appointment. Lisa refused to reschedule. It was by far the worst experience that I have had with any health care provider. I would not recommend her to anyone. I regret waiting a month and a half when I could have sought out other options to help my daughter. She only cares about getting paid. The patient's health is not a priority. read more

After seeing Lisa for a few months and getting some generally Luke warm responses to questions and concerns, I finally hit the wall last week. I told her I was getting intense acne which I believed to be a side effect of a med she was prescribing (acne is specifically listed as a side effect of this medication). Instead of talking to me about other options or possible causes she completely patronized me and very rudely began recommending that I simply shower and exfoliate more without acknowledging that I am a 26 year old adult who has NEVER experienced acne until taking a medication which is listed as causing this effect. To say the least, I will not be returning. This is one concern amongst many. Patient beware! read more

Really wish I would've did my research and looked at these reviews before wasting my time, insurance, and mental health on this place or these people. Have been a patient for about 6 months maybe, give or take. They started me on Sertraline 50mg, my very first time ever taking mental health medication in my lifetime. I see my psychiatrist as supposed to in September, he finishes the appt telling me he doesn't need to see me for another 8 weeks. 8 weeks later he is switching providers and I'm told I need to schedule with a new DR as if I'm a brand new patient again. So now I cannot get in the office until January 22, 2019 is what I'm told (mind you today is December 5) . Of course, as a first time medicine user my first concern was my medication lapsing and possibly going through any withdraw effects. I'm advised by the medical office who STARTED me on this medicine I now need to go find a primary care doctor and ask them to prescribe it to me until I see the new doctor in January. So when I explain my concerns of not wanting to withdraw or even the possible side effects of my behavior lashing out without it the response tone I get is more so, "oh well there's nothing I can do." After I express the disappointment for a lack of concern or care for their patients, and the possibility of needing to find a new providers office with more care and concern for those things, I am then happily asked, "Do you want me to cancel your January appointment for you." IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF YOUR PATIENTS WHY ARE YOU WORKING FOR OR RUNNING A MENTAL HEALTH OPTION IN YOUR COUSELING CENTER???? read more

I feel totally affirmed by the other reviews I see on Yelp about this center. I do not post reviews, but this time I actually felt ethically and morally bound to do so, after a harmful and atrocious experience at The Resource Group in Towson, MD. Stay away and do not trust them to appropriately treat anyone you love. Lisa Swords, the nurse practitioner, is actually one of the least empathetic mental health professionals I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with, as I sought treatment for my depressed teenage daughter. We waited 6 weeks to see her and then we were mistreated, spoken to condescendingly and rudely, verging on incompetence. We will be filing a professional complaint against her with the Maryland Board of Nursing, but in the meanwhile, consumers should know to stay away. We also saw a therapist at the Resource Group who was strange and made both me and my daughter very uneasy. Learn from our mistakes and take your loved ones and your insurance plans somewhere else. I cannot tell you how much I wish I had read these reviews before I made that appointment. Run, don't walk. read more
