If I could give less than one star I would. this man makes up his own rules and assures he is a professional. I submitted forms for him to rewrite a resume for me as i had lost my job. you only have 30 days to fill out all of his questioners making it feel as though you are basically writing your own resume. after 30 days your money is no longer valid and he tosses your project in the trash! After he has already collected your 300. At a desperate time I was hoping someone could save me. I paid for this service in January of 2019 and it is now Oct 2019 months going by with no response from this man. I finally get a response this week in October 2019 that he is out of town but I can pay 75 more dollars for him to decide to work on my project again..... stay away from this man and his poor communication and bad business sense taking advantage of the jobless and desperate who are trying to do what they can to find work. find someone else or just write a resumer yourself. save your self the money and the hassle of his requests for more money. for not doing any work!! read more

He was so responsive until after I paid him. Then it was all crickets. (I posted this in his primary Yelp location - San Francisco - but he's so great I had to make sure everyone in Sacramento looking for a resume service saw this too!) Jerome is AMAZING at what he does! A true professional, he was thorough and put lot of great work into what I asked of him. He helped me with two grad school application essays, as well as a resume. The essays looked fantastic when he edited them, and my resume looks better than it ever has! We met at a coffee shop to discuss the essays and he went over the prompts with me. He helped me to organize my thoughts/ideas and gave me invaluable tools to put it together. Writing essays for grad school apps can be very stressful, but he helped me to stay organized and it was much less stressful than it could have been. I found him about a week before the first one was due and he worked very hard and got it edited in time despite having other projects I'm sure he was working on simultaneously. Both essays turned out GREAT and I'm more confident about getting accepted now than I ever have been. As for the resume, he fully explained the process behind putting one together, was thorough with his questions about me and my experience so he could put one together that covered it all, and then formatted it in a way that would get potential employers' attention. Since I was looking at applying to three different types of jobs, I then made three separate versions of it and he was then kind enough to look ALL THREE of them over and make any necessary adjustments to maximize their appeal. So, I now have three beautiful resumes! As for the results of all this hard work, I have yet to hear back from the schools I applied to, but I started applying to jobs right away. One of the places I gave my resume to called me after only 20 minutes of having it faxed to their hiring staff and requested an interview for the next day. I interviewed and got the job!!! I am confident that the reason they called and scheduled with such urgency is that they were impressed with the resume. In closing, I will be recommending Jerome at The Resume Shop to all friends and family members in the future. Hired Jerome over a year ago to do my resume.. got the first drafter 3 months after he said I would originally get it.. always an excuse as to why he's not responding to emails.. original resume was very well written but was missing some prior work experience.. so he had me fill out a revision work sheet back in November. To date have not received a revised resume.. emails numerous time with no reply. Has moved to so-cal ..have him as a Facebook friend and see him doing things so I know he's alive.. just ignores u.. and refuse to call or message u back.. do not trust him.. read more

I am a 61 year old female who has been working at the same job for 30 years. Due to changes in management, I am having to reapply for my job. I have never had a real resume. Post edited to address Jerome's response below. I originally hired Jerome to revise my resume to be tailored toward a number of job postings I was interested in applying to. After being incredibly responsive regarding the contract, payment and worksheets he has new clients fill out, he all but dropped off the face of the planet when it came time to send me back the resume drafts. With deadlines looming, I would reach out via phone, text, email to no avail or to lame excuses about being "under the weather" or working on other projects, etc. Both of those excuses, by the way, are not lame in their own right, but when they come the day before a deadline, they hold about as much weight as "my dog ate my homework," IMO. Once I finally received my revised resume, I admittedly was impressed. Although, after having done some research, I'm not convinced he didn't just use a template and copy/paste from my old resume, I can admit that the product he presented to me was better than what I had originally sent him. ***Hence the 1 star*** Due to the finished product that he *eventually* produced, I recommended him to my friend/sister, Sarah. She, against my advice, purchased an entire package- which apparently had a time limit that was never highlighted or discussed but was found in the fine print of the contract. Points lost for the shadiness of that and even more points lost for the email response he wrote to my sister when she asked to use one of her remaining sessions. The email went something like "if you'd like to hire me again, here's a link to my website..."I'm paraphrasing. Anyway, I'm not trying to start a feud or argue back and forth, so I'll leave it at that. I think it's important for prospective clients to know what they are getting themselves into. Read the other reviews. Seems a bit peculiar that he either gets 5 or 1 star ratings. Original review- He is extremely unresponsive, unless he is seeking payment. It took him far too long to revise my resume, and when he did, it seemed like he just used a template and copy/pasted from my old resume. I definitely could have done that on my own, not paid for someone else to do that. He missed deadlines for job postings and would not return phone calls or emails, always claiming that he was either "under the weather" or had blocked the time to be working on others' resumes. When we would set up phone sessions, he would spend most of the time talking about his past work experience, not helping me with my job search. Further, he constantly referenced the way things used to work when he was a recruiter...5+ years ago. Everything has changed since then! Even with all those qualms, I recommended him to a friend and she bought an entire package which he now claims has expired and if she'd like to work with him then she needs to purchase more services. DO NOT listen to the reviews previously posted, as they were paid participants, none were actual clients. All this career coach did was steal my money and gas. I would travel all the way from Elk Grove to Rocklin to meet with him, and it was all for nothing. What he does is listens to your concerns and then recommends what option is best for you. You (the client) get excited and want to dive in head first, but he just ends up stringing you along, withholding information to make you spend more money. I don't make much and I was fully invested in his services. He would lie and say he could connect me with professionals from the industry I was interested in, but I never met one. About half way through his scam, I opted out and wanted some of my funds back. He THEN recommends a more cost effective (I guess) program. I declined and he agreed to pay me my partial refund. He never gave me my refund. I am reporting him to the Better Business Bureau in hopes that it will derail him from future scams. Please! If you need help finding/changing careers, seek an accredited business, not one highly recommended on yelp. Remember, businesses on yelp can pay people to speak in favor of them, as well as pay to remove unfavorable reviews. I'm sure he'll remove this shortly.. read more

Not sure why one delusional reviewer is claiming "paid participants" perhaps just a miserable person who did like what they heard.
