We personally have gay friends but we believe their behavior is a sin. I am a sinner and I believe we should love the sinner and hate the sin. The current law allows gay couples to marry. I think gay couples should respect the beliefs of others just as they want to be respected. " Clearly, they don't want to come right out and say we are not welcome, but they made it clear. Nowhere in my initial email was I disrespectful to them, so I'm not sure whey they felt the need to point out that we needed to respect their beliefs. A simple, "We can not accommodate your request at this time," would have been fine. We were not asking them to officiate our wedding. We were asking them if they would do their jobs as business owners, take our money, host our event, and keep their personal opinions to themselves. How their religious beliefs impact their business I don't really understand. It is really too bad, because as I mentioned, this venue looks absolutely gorgeous. However after the rude and frankly condescending email back, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I suggest those who support marriage equality do not support this highly unprofessional business.

I recently stayed at the Abilena Mansion for a friend's wedding and appreciated how inclusive the…read moreproperty is. The mansion sleeps 14 people with 7 queen beds, but we were able to accommodate more by using the spacious couch in one of the bedrooms and sleeping 3 to a bed another night. It was so nice to have the entire wedding party stay in one place. We had the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception on property, and there was enough lawn parking for all guests. The ceremony space is outside overlooking a peaceful lake that beautifully compliments the sunset. We used the dock for wedding party photos and as a place to hang out and chat on our fist night (tip: bring bug spray). The reception area is also outside but completely covered and with optional side shading. Both areas are the perfect size for small-to-medium size weddings. A big con, should it affect you and your guests: the mansion and grounds are not wheelchair accessible. There are quite a number of steps to get to the ceremony area with no alternative route. Guests who cannot walk or climb steps may not be able to view the ceremony next to everyone else. I also did not notice a ramp leading inside the mansion. We joked that the kitchen has everything you don't need. They have like 3 cheese graters and 50 wine glasses, but no Pam, scissors, or a wine/beer bottle opener. The owners probably don't stock the place with these essential items because guests could easily steal them, so please, for your own good: BRING A WINE BOTTLE OPENER. The kitchen has two refrigerators--enough room to hold 5 bags of ice in each freezer. The mansion also has a washer and dryer and plenty of clean towels. And a piano! And a pool. And tons of room to work on wedding decor projects. Basically this place has almost everything you could want in a wedding location. The owners are available via phone at almost any time and are quick to reply. The husband and wife duo visited every day to clean up, check-in, and help with ceremony set-up. My biggest complaint with the Abilena Mansion is the wi-fi. It worked for about 30 minutes when I first connected and then died for the rest of my multi-day stay. No one's phone could successfully connect to the wi-fi even though it appeared available. This is a huge downside for a place that's supposed to service large groups of people who want to stream music, look up information, post on social media, and activate other celebration-related things.

To get 5 stars, we would need it to be a bit easier to navigate, there were a lot of large stairs that were hard for those wearing heels. I don't know how much control over the event the owners have but it was a bit confusing knowing where to go and when, maybe bigger signage would help. Overall it was a lovely outdoor venue.

From the moment we walked into Butterfly Kisses Pavilion we fell in love with the venue. We did not ask for much... just for a stress-free wedding and absolutely no white at the venue. Nonetheless, we were stressed out, lied to, and received white flowers that were disposed of from the wedding the night before. If I did not have mutual friends on Facebook, you would have pocketed almost $1300 for flowers/ greenery we never received (Since everything was reused from the day before). Thank God I have trustworthy friends that look out for me. Something you did not do for my husband and I on our wedding day. Thanks for the refund on the flowers though. As for the wedding day management services that you promised to refund in full ($700) and only did half. Please keep the money as you obviously need it more than me. I just do not think it is fair that you are lying to the other people on the reviews saying you only promised half. Laura, You, and Me talked on the phone together when you promised to refund me in FULL. In the text messages between you and the bride (who's wedding was the day before ours) you said, "I did struggle with timing of my day and will admit I used boutonnieres that I found to eliminate the need to put together a few less than I had to do." Katrina- we did not want any white in the wedding. You reused ALL the flowers/greenery from Laura's wedding on June 4th, 2022. Moving on, you said directly "I cannot coordinate back-to-back weddings and do flowers and lighting. I had too much on my plate that caused me to not perform my best for that second couple" MY HUSBAND AND I WERE THE SECOND COUPLE. It will forever upset me that our wedding was just dollar signs to you. AFTER MY WEDDING KATRINA POSTED THE PICTURE OF MY HUSBAND AND I AND DELETED IT BECAUSE SHE CLAIMED THE WORK OF ANOTHER FLOREST FOR THE FLOWERS SHE DISPOSED OF AND REUSED FOR MY WEDDING. QUOTE FROM KATRINA:"Regarding claiming the flowers, I definitely shouldn't have done so with those images. I removed the post immediately when you pointed it for both reasons of not knowing what we would say to each other but also because that image didn't have my work in it." She admitted that it was not her work, but MY HUSBAND AND I PAID FOR HER WORK. Again, this is untrustworthy of a business, and she committed fraud. Did I mention the stressful part yet? As she mentioned in the texts messages that our wedding was not a priority, we did not receive the lights we wanted or a rehearsal before the wedding. If a meeting 20 minutes prior to the ceremony is professional to any person getting married here than so be it. But we arrived 3 and a half hours prior to the ceremony to REHEARSE the wedding, but the venue was not even close to being ready yet. My day was falling apart right between my eyes. So Katrina- PLEASE stop lying to the other people that left reviews saying this has been resolved. Laura and I will never forget what you did to us. IT WILL LIVE WITH US FOREVER. My wedding day was beautiful, but the services you provided were unprofessional and sneaky.
