I traveled up to Sheboygan for business, and rather than staying at a chain hotel, I gave this place a try. I notified them of my late check-in and they gave clear instructions on how to get my keys and get into the room. The room had lots of charm and I loved the decor. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. The shower head could have been better, but that's a tiny detail. I requested a vegetarian breakfast for 8am. I came to the lobby and was served an AMAZING almond-crusted French toast along with lots of fresh fruit and coffee. If up in the area again, I will definitely pick this place over a chain hotel.

I made a reservation at this bed and breakfast after an internet search for B&B's near Koehler, WI. Being from Illinois, we were looking for a little weekend getaway in a quaint town in Wisconsin a few hours away for a birthday celebration. We had no pre-conceived notions going up to this property except for a Victorian vibe with a breakfast and private bathroom and cleanliness. The Rochester Inn delivered big! They hit it out of the park. The two-story suite we had was quaint with nice touches: keurig coffee maker, basket of assorted k-cup selections to choose from, wet bar, televisions upstairs and downstairs, a bookshelf with lots of books to peruse, DVDs in a glass cabinet in the hallway, large jetted tub that comfortably fit my almost 6 ft. frame, and my partner's 6'5" frame, aromatic bath salts, lots of towels, and a comfortable four poster queen bed. The service was exceptional. The proprietor delivered our breakfast to our room and it was phenomenal. There was a crock of herbed eggs with Canadian bacon on the bottom, fresh fruit assortment, a flaky croissant with a yummy apple cinnamon jam, and orange juice. I think something else was included, but I can't remember. We were extremely pleased with this unexpected B&B choice and highly recommend it for any couple's getaway or a treat yourself weekend! Enjoy!

We have been to the hotel before to eat at some of the restaurants, but staying was a whole different experience, truly 5 stars. This is a great place to celebrate any special occasion, they make you feel so special from the moment you walk in. The front desk went over all the amazing amenities the hotel has to offer, and we were even able to check in early, which was so nice. It gave us time to get refreshed before heading out to explore. The hotel is large and feel like you could easily get lost in the halls. The library area has little bits of history throughout, and the hotel even hosts a historic hotel tour if you're interested in learning more. Each room has its own little touch of history too, which I loved. We stayed in a Superior King Room and it had a great amount of space and a plush king bed, a beautiful bathroom with a double vanity, whirlpool tub, and a large shower, plus a wet bar area, plush robes... the list goes on. They even had a large coffee table book with Kohler Company history and vintage Kohler advertisements, which was such a fun decor touch. The turndown service was the cherry on top! They left me a thoughtful birthday note and go our room ready for a us, a nice luxury touch! The shuttle service is so nice to explore just about anything and there are so many amenities we didn't take advantage of like the morning yoga or gym. I cant stop recommending a stay here if you can make it work, its a luxury experience. Throughout our stay we explored the hotel and the different courtyards, restaurants, and the Kohler area and we cant wait to be back!

I had to disassble the thermostat and fix it. Got it running. Turned on shower, lots of hair in tub, the shower head sprayed water all over my (dry clean only) dress clothes that i had to change into for an event. Fabulous. Fixed the shower head. Mopped up entire bathroom floor. Towels not fresh nor were there enough. 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel, 6 washcloths, 1 bath mat. Wth? Lots of gross stains on them. Also hand not been folded nicely. The ice machine didn't work. Went to front desk. The young employee looked for a screwdriver to fix it, but gave up and gave us (a little) ice. Breakfast was ok, but boxes and supplies were piled up haphazardly in dining area. Tables were not clean. I had to get my own bananas from the back because they were gone. Only 2 oranges in fruit basket Pillows were cheap and lumpy. Only saving grace was the hot tub was not locked so I was able to soak for a little bit (past the posted hours)

The bathroom is tiny and brightly white fluorescent. The towels have been washed in bleach so often that they are getting close to see through. But here's the thing - it was a comfortable night's sleep. Everything should have been a one, but the sleep was so needed and relaxing.

Some of the biggest pros for me is their internet is fast (even during peak hours), their afternoon socials with cheese spreads and drinks is one of the best I've seen at and Holiday Inn, and they have updated facilities. But there are some things that drive me a little nuts and are the reasons why I don't just give a top 5 rating. One is the room with no closet, which I ended up getting... I stay 5 days at a time so it would have been nice if the staff noticed the longevity of my stay and set me up with a more accommodating room. Another thing is if your the unfortunate sap who gets stuck on the first floor than be prepared to share your first floor view with anyone walking by outside, as their "black out" curtains are either broken or they don't stay together very well. And the last thing that kinda goes along with getting a lower floor is the ability to hear the person above you walking around. I swear there was a marching band above my room every morning heralding in the new day at the blistering hour of 6am. For these reason I believe this hotel fall in the four star range. Got in the room, and it was awful. Smelled like pets had been sleeping there. Many pets. Like dog crap. The carpet was filthy and stained. But everything else was sold out, so I headed to Meijer and bought $50 worth of febreeze, deoderizers, air fresheners, and towels to lay on the filthy carpet. I spent an hour cleaning and unpacking, and got ready for bed. Then the unattended dog in the room across the hall started barking, and would not stop. This is apparently against hotel policy, but the owners had left it alone, and it would not stop. So they offered to move me to another room. Another 30 minutes of repacking and moving and I arrive in room #2. There is a dehumidifier in the middle of the floor, not running because the tank was full. I emptied the tank and it started running. This room smelled much better because it had an ultra-strong plug in air freshener. Burned your nose it was so strong. So maybe "different" is a better word to use. I unplugged it and threw in in the hall. The bed was fine, but the pillows had weird stains - blood? Good think I brought my own pillows.... The carpet was better, but I still didn't trust it so the towels went back down. The bathroom sink only produced a trickle of water. Shower was fine, but the curtain was mounted so far into the tub that you couldn't actually take a shower with the curtain closed, so I just didn't use it and let the water go everywhere. There were disgusting weird black stains in the toilet. The floor by the sink was always wet, but nothing was leaking. The roof? The walls? That's probably why there was a dehumidifier. Hardly any plugs so I bought extension cords. Breakfast looked OK though I never ate it. The hotel is being "remodeled" and as a result the hallways looked like you were in Beirut. Great location and plenty of parking. Seems to me that the staff is trying hard, but the ownership has let this place go to hell. Any positive review must be left by the hotel itself because there is no way that this place is acceptable unless your previous home is a flophouse. Never again.
