From serving in kids as a volunteer, to seeing the Provide Hope food ministry in action every Friday, I don't know where to begin. My favorite group to work with is Jack of All Trades where we go out in the community and help with small repairs for people unable to do so themselves. I know I get a lot out of this place and have been a proud member for about 4 years now. I don't put my faith in people, I put it in God. I see God through the actions of the people who go here. The worst church experience of my life so much they have turned me away from going to any church in the future. I attended and volunteered (slaved by the rock church staff with very little to no appreciation) for about or almost 8 years. My whole family served in every ministry having us at the church everyday sometimes or most of the time 4-5 days a week. I was bullied at the rock church from day one and i tried very very hard to fit in here. After talking and telling a few leaders who i thought i could trust only made it seem like it was all just me. I eventually went to the head pastor (jeff knight) before a summer camp basically because the bullies parents were well tithers he said do t go and "block them" wow jeff really really uplifting and encouraging. Leaders never check on me even though kat and terrell the youth leaders or whatever their position was lived 2 blocks away if even that. The rock church only cares about money clothes jewels and fame. Not only that but at those teen sleepovers everyone wants to be at the rock church staff gossips about anyone and everyone that comes through those doors of the church. I remember specifically a female leader that I stayed the night at complimented a 12 to 14 year old girls pants and then that same night told me a 15 year old who was a worship leader there and attended the church that the girls pajamma pants were not cute and how could she go out like that. These people hurt me so much over the years i went there while my parents went through a bad divorce that had abuse and bullying as well at school from different kids and some of the rock church kids went to my school which was terrible for me. I will not be attending church because the rock has pushed me so far from ever wanting to socialize with a "christian". Oh and their worship leaders or youth leaders go to parties smoke weed and drink and have sex. I was very "in" for about 4 years and learned that its ok for the talented or loved ones to sin alot but the ones who arent as popular and try very hard to be good and stay home read the bible they get shunned. My husband and I joined this church in January 2013. We love this church. For several reasons. We believed we were members "for real" and not just on paper. We were wrong. Here is our story: My husband met a man that helped him through a personal struggle. This man was a member of TRC and strongly encouraged us to come. We did. The first time I came in I have to admit I was turned off by the set up. I was used to more conservative churches and this reminded me of the big churches you see on TV. I soon got over that. It truly is a great place to worship and every time I was here I felt close the God. We went regularly and volunteered as well as tithed (we did not give the suggested amount. We gave a good amount and it was what we could afford). Then my husband received a promotion and his hours changed. I also went back to school for my masters. We could not go as often (we barley went at all) we live in Lynnwood and Monroe is a long no drive for us. We really poured our entire heart into this church for a year. There were things that we found unacceptable. 1. We were told by several different members of leadership that being gay is against Gods plan and if people act on the "desire" for gay sex, they are sinning against God. 2. The hard sell on giving money. It's not subtle at all. We were told in a connect group (small groups getting together to discuss a topic - they last for around 6-8 weeks) that our lives will change if we tithe. We were pretty happy already so it felt uncomfortable. The Pastor never really spoke about money. He has other people do it. It does speak on the positive things the money does for the community. 3. We felt super pressured to volunteer more and more. It was obnoxious with the emails and schedules and it felt like we had a second job! 4. Last year we had a huge issue with our oldest son and reached out to all of our church folks including the pastor and his wife. We did this on FB messenger as we know all of them use it. Some responded and said they would pray and that was nice. The pastor nor his wife did. We were seeking a comforting word and there was none to be offered. This shocked me. It hurt. We Had been to maybe 3 services in that year due to busy schedules and the distance of the church. Maybe that's why. Not sure and don't care. We no longer trust this leadership and feel it is fake. Of those that did reach out, they did once with some word of prayer but not again. I also told a friend of mine why I was upset so I'm sure she mentioned something. Maybe it's just me but, we were told a lie that we really bought into. That lie was that we were part of a community that cared for each other. I found it quite clique. The pastor does have bodyguards and it is silly. Maybe he does feel like he's a rockstar and in hind sight I can see that. His ego is a big one. I do love the worship and the word when he preaches. He's good for sure. We still love this church. We will still go sometimes (maybe) but are still trying to decide. We would love to find a church close to is that won't preach hate and are not bible literalists but alas, not an easy job. We think this is a great place to worship but not get emotionally involved as obviously there are some rules about how they will support you in a time of great need. I have been a faithful church attendee and volunteer for 8 years now. I moved to Monroe 4 years ago and tried out every church around 6 to be exact. The Rock was great but had a worship that was a little over the top for me. However if that was the only issue I figured I'd give it another try. This is the first church I truly feel at home. The volunteers and staff I come in contact with are genuine, caring, compassionate and uplifting. I have made real friends, love the worship and no volunteer 2x a week just to spend more time with the people there. I am so blessed to have found a church that finally makes me feel like I belong. read more

We have attended The Rock Church for nearly 12 years now. Before that we attended a full gospel, multicultural church in Seattle, a few Baptist churches, Four Square, and in my childhood, Lutheran and Catholic churches. I have been loved and supported by all, but have found The Rock Church to be the best fit for our family. The children's ministry is phenomenal and 3 of my 4 kids serve in the church, all 4 have personal relationships with God and hate missing service. The worship is inspired and Pastor Jeff does a great job of sharing from his heart, bringing scripture in a practical and applicable way. From the parking attendants and greeters who make us feel welcome, to the volunteer security team who helps us to feel safe, to the kids workers and so many other volunteers, we appreciate the servant hearts at The Rock. A journey of faith is a very individual one and I have found that as I have brought my commitment and faith to God, through being a part of this church, I have seen the fruit of getting what put into it multiplied back to me in grace, relationship and deepening of belief. I would recommend anyone visit and see if The Rock is a good fit - it's been for us! read more

This Church stands by its mission statement, Rescuing people and the purpose for their lives. I have attended this Church since I was seven years old and now 12 years later I have had the privilege of leading in various different capacities. While every yelp review will have it's set of extreme stories, you can't let one negative yelp review determine how you view this Church. The Church is a place of broken people not perfect people. It's unfortunate that we look at the Church like you're looking to buy a house and at any moment you see a flaw in the structure we try so hard to discredit it and we look to it as a physical building rather than the body of Christ that God has created it to be it and say things like they need to serve me a message in the way that I want it to be preached, they asked me to give? Are you kidding? They asked me to volunteer? How dare they, they need to have music at the appropriate loudness, not too loud not too quiet that I can hear my own voice, they have too much fun in church, it's too "youthy" its too flashy etc. and we lose sight of the whole of why the Church exists. This Church is about loving people to Jesus. The heart of pastors Jeff and Melinda Knight is to serve and love people regardless of where they come from. Rather than looking for offense and turning that into a yelp review, I'll tell you what this church is about. This Church never gives up on people and has big vision to reach people far from God. The power and presence of God is moving in a mighty way through healing, miracles, prophetic words, and powerful worship. They don't just play Church. They live out what they believe and are passionate about the gospel transforming lives. I contacted this church TWICE. I desperately need fellowship and a worship functioning church. They NEVER got back to me. I HAD heard good things about this particular church's service and music. I really wanted to go there. I don't now. Hey All, I used to attend The Rock Church and I would like to share my experience as an intern at The Rock Church in Monroe - Pastors Jeff and Melinda Knight. James 3:1 - "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. 1. "Fully Transferable College Credit" - The Rock Church has something they call an "Internship" which was advertised during the three-years I attended the program as fully transferable colleges credit due to their exclusive affiliation with Portland Bible College (600/month for 9/months + $2800 deposit), as a result I decided it would be a great chance to grow my relationship with Christ and others while obtaining college credit for the business degree I had planned to pursue before discovering the program, so I attended. After attending the program for two years I thought I might head back to school and finish my Associates Degree. I was told by Melinda Knight (one of the two senior pastors) if I just hung in there I would be able to work full time after completing the third year but as the third year progressed and my debt to The Church drew close to $0.00 balance I realized the push for my departure had begun. It became exceedingly clear when she called me into her office after hearing me talk about how excited I was to start night classes later that year at Cascadia cc. Upon applying to Cascadia community college, I also realized the three years I invested in obtaining "college credit" from The Rock Church were nothing but scraps of worthless paper. To lose the money, fine, the time is something I can never get back. I was an impressionable 18-year-old kid looking to be a better person, we trusted them as leaders to be honest, we gave them our heart and soul, PAYING to spend 6 days a week 10hrs/day WORKING and 6 hours a week in class for credit that cannot transfer anywhere!?!? I'm not sure if the business model was created by Jeff or simply learned from Jeff's father whose epiphany of salvation and grass roots movement appeared to him in prison, but somehow the business model was more focused on the 10% tithe than the people who put it there. We all had a role to play in the Knights grander scheme to fulfill their dreams of fame and fortune, lavish cars, large houses and racecar garages full of classic cars, backup racecars, boats, jet skis. I'm not sure if my ill feeling come simply from the three years of my life I wasted or that as interns we also cleaned their brand new, fully loaded H3 Hummer and Chrysler 300 SRT8 on a bi-monthly cycle, the favoritism towards interns being allowed to cross physical boundaries while others were excommunicated from the church or simply when Pastor Ron Warren "Senior Pastor" calls a 20-year-old a "cancer to the system" during an exit interview from the program. Talk about impacting the youth RON! Ada-boy! 2. Homosexuality: A Senior Pastor's Hypocrisy - Melinda Knight hired herself an administrative assistant whose husband is gay, they also released an intern who was in my class because he was gay. He also committed suicide 2 year later. I guess they only care when some people are gay. Funny though how they make such a big stink about it when apparently all sin is equal aside from renouncing Christ, but I guess when you're the arrogant lead pastors you get to make the rules regardless of what the bible says, who knew? So essentially the felon father can be forgiven and lead a church of thousands on little more than hog fuel and lies while a gay boy must be set apart from the church and excommunicated.... I love God, but I wish they had shared Psalm 118:8 "Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation." 3. Blind Leading the Blind: Melinda Knight - As I grew older I realized I had been trying to follow an emotionally imbalanced woman who exude high levels of insecurity with a plastic surgery addiction. This was no leader, she was constantly trying to fix herself which left little time for her to do her job... These two people drew approximately 10-15 new students per year into their money hungry racket (aside from the third year when I signed 18 people up for them as it was my job.... I could go on for hours about this but I think I'm done. Life is short, don't waste your time with a wolf in sheep's clothing, find a house that feels right. That weird feeling you have shouldn't be ignored. When's the last time you saw a worship leader with a bedazzled microphone convulse on stage in theatrical shimmering attire with that video feed zoomed in 8X, is this possibly, maybe a cry for help? Who knows. It sure is a wild show if that's what you're into on Sunday mornings. 4. Closing: Suicide - a few years intern Michael Brown committed suicide for being gay - he couldn't live with himself due to the conviction placed upon him by the church. The blood is on your hands. This review is just based on our own experiences attending The Rock church and does not reflect on what you may/may not experience. We've attended different churches in and around King/Snohomish county and different parts of the country in which we've lived. We actually enjoy learning about different faiths/interpretations/teaching's and experiencing those first hand. We attended The Rock Church in Monroe approximately for 3-4 months pretty regularly. We were introduced to the church from a fellow little league baseball family we met when our son's played together. Our first experience was good, as we liked that the church had a youth area with a lot for the kid's to do. We liked the music, and the theatrics such as the emotional 'feel good' video's, and semi-dramatic style of preaching. We all thought(incuding our 7 year old) that it felt more like going to an entertainment venue than attending church. However, the messages preached were inspiring but certainly not deep, or spiritually educating. We feel this particular church is great for those that prefer a less orthodox church experience, and prefer to be entertained via media props, and Christian rock style music . We attended regularly to give the church leadership a chance to show us what they had to offer, but also to give our children a more modern experience. Since we were not solely attending for the high tech atmosphere, and entertainment we specifically listened closely to the monologue. Sort of the in-between the theatrics. What we found each week, was the message's from the leadership on stage was shallow, very short, very diluted, and often mixed with pick-n-pull scripture spun to drive home one heavily pursued message. Money. The fact that the leader of the church's parent's were killed in a plane crash, that the leaders convicted felon father who 'found' his true calling while in prison started up the grass-roots church from his home etc. The fact that the leader who came to take over the church initially unwillingly loves to race cars, and owns a plethora of expensive vehicles was still not the defining factor for our bidding adieu of such weekly entertainment . The Rock church has a business first mentality, and uses its self-interest in disguise as a place to praise God, and band together as Christian community. It became clear when the leader of the church emotionally blackmails the congregation attendee's week after week to give more money, to complain, to open your eyes to the cost of running such a business from the exact dollar amount of the expensive lighting etc. to which on our very last attendance after about a 15 minute rant about costs vs. incoming donations he explained that you are not a member of this church unless you metaphorically sign on the dotted line to financially support his business regularly. aka you must become an official member of his "church". If you think about that for a moment, you realize it is "his" church, "their" (other members)church, not yours, not God's. If I have learned anything from exploring my Christian faith and attending many churches, and studying many faiths, it is that the old testament (other than scripture speaking of tithing), and empty pockets are not welcome at The Rock Church. The leadership of this church wants you to believe Jesus was a hippy who wore a crown of daisy's not thorns, and that know matter what you say/do in life all we'll be forgiven if you give the Knight family, their sister church creditors, and their paid personnel a minimum of 10% of your paycheck each week. The worship here is more like a rock concert. Its definitely a youth orientated place. They have a few flaws, such as security. Who needs a bunch of goons with ear pieces and wrist mics so that they think they are secret service flanking a pastor of a church in a small town. Its a little over the top as far as pride goes in my book. The youth area has been going through growing pains. It was all about fun and games for a while which was great for getting the kids in the door, but not so great as far as actually teaching anything. I have heard that they are trying to revamp this area of their mission a little. I hope it works out. The pastor here has an amazing word. You won't hear anything better and see a man more in touch with God's word than this guy. Very awesome. They do have some awesome talent as far as the music goes here. I wish they would put less attention on the wife of the lead pastor as far as music is concerned as her voice isn't that great. I understand that she is in the main leadership circle, but sometimes you have to make tough choices and put people in positions that truly belong there, not just because you are married to the pastor. They go back and forth between telling you where to sit and where not to. They put up ropes to try to get people up front to fill up the place more. I am guessing this is a combination of wanting to make it look good for the cameras as well as to try to cut down the interruptions from late arrivals. One thing about the valley here, the people are extremely rude. They come in at all times throughout the service and feel that they are entitled to interrupt your worship because they had to stop for Starbucks and that is the most important thing in the world... Enough of that soap box, well give this church a try. It is pretty awesome, despite the few flaws I pointed out. read more
