So delicious we had leftovers and it's Monday and I'm still eating tacos! Even the fixings were all so fresh. Still eating cucumbers too hahaha I would highly recommend their catering services. The birthday cake looked great, and the server served it up, and snapped a group photo.. We ordered the empanadas, and a tamale. and they were out of the fish, but they had lamb chops. The empanadas were room temperature. which at first i kinda wanted hem warm, but after the first bite the complaints melted away into sounds of appreciation for the flavors. and the deep lovely red chile sauce with it. and my only complaint was that they were then gone! Nom Nom Nom.. The lamb had just a teeny bit of muttony flavor and a perfect sear. we split the 2 lamb lolly pops. and spent plenty of time cleaning the rib. the glaze was fantastic! the potatoes and calibicitas were also super flavorful and delightful! Came with a side of butternut puree that was so smooth. and also perfectly spiced. My companion hates vinegary salad dressings, but the side salad that came with the Tamale, was lovely, just the right amount of oil and umami flavors, and only a hint of maybe lemon? for the acid. we both enjoyed it quite a lot which is saying something for a salad. The tamale. was cute in its pooked open wrapper. we left it inside and quite enjoyed picking out the delightful masa. my only complaint was i think we should have asked for spoons. as a fork is not the best way to pick a tamale out of the wrapper. (or we could have dumped it out. but once again it was cute as served. I would have preferred meat to the tamale. but really enjoyed it as it was too. Lastly on the way out we got a choke cherry tart, and a butterscotch bunt cake to go.. which we ate later.. both were great! We will need to return and try more dishes. and the desert Empanada, (they were sold out) and likely i will update to a 5 star. Fyi looks like they kinda run as two different kitchens, Snapdragon Tea, in the mornings, and Mila's Mesa at night. definitely going to have to go and try out one of the tea time reservations.

They are my "Go To" for all my catering. Since then, they have moved locations, but I have continued to work with them year after year. As I write this review, I can pretty much say that I have used them religiously for more then 25 events. So why do I like them so much? 1) Consistency--food AND service. This is a a big deal and hard to find. I can not tell you how many compliments I get about the food after each event. On top of that, having reliable service that cleans up and takes care of everything reduces so much stress (that allows me to enjoy the party). Her staff has remained the same so it is comforting to know that the service will always be amazing. 2) Affordable-they work within my budget and do not pressure me to order more then what I need. I have helped organize events for non-profits and she always customizes menus. 3) Flexible-I recently became a vegetarian so I wanted to make sure I had vegetarian options for appetizers but I knew that the majority of the people ate meat. City Treats was flexible with allowing me to order smaller quantities of veg. appetizers. 4) Able to accommodate small and large parties- I have organized events spanning 350 to intimate dinner parties of 16. Pulling off large events is difficult and they have never let me down. I am the first to say that I am NO Martha Stewart so I will hire them when I host intimate dinner parties. They always make it look easy and it is so much more relaxing for me and my guests. I recently heard that they will be opening a new location inside the International Hispanic Cultural Center. The El Vado plaza chowdown paseo just keeps delivering on the flavor front…read more Today's hit was a stagger to the left one door upon exiting Heavenly Taste Cakery and landing in the premises of Street Food Sensations, which is right next door to the sweetery shop. Seems this Sensational eatery used to be a bus but lost it's wheels and is now permanently parked in the #2 spot just off Central Ave on the sunny El Vado open air patio/plaza. Bein' a fool for a Cubano sandwich, I succumbed to the moral obligation to order these friendly folks' Spicy Cubano version with parmesan & truffle chips on the side. When I got home & opened the to-go box I was duly impressed at the generous size of the sandwich. The handful of homemade lookin' chips was adequate at filling its corner of the container. From the first bite, the spicy aspect was not inside the sandwich. While well flavored, the Scoville scale on that sammie was on the low end of heat, particularly for the Burqueño crowd. However, the large'ish pepperoncini spiked to the top of the sandwich was the nuclear blast bringin' a little scorched earth policy to the party. We're talking nasal clearing, eye watering, tongue shrivelling, throat chokin' thermal overload. It was so good!! The flat bread on the sammie was chewy & sturdy enough to corral the layers of beef, ham, cheese, and pickles without degradation or deteriorating. The red chile mayo was super sparse, to the point of almost non-existent, and left me wanting for more to jack up the heat a bit. The beef was okay to good, being subtly spiced which let the umami taste shine through. Ham was of the water added variety so offered decent texture & moistness to the filling. But the smoke note in the mix was a soft one, not intense with the acrid attack often found in dry cure hams. Pickles were okay to good. Cheese was likewise okay to good, though not as spicy as I would hope for from a pepper jack cheese. The parmesan & truffle fries were of the sturdy sort. The good news being that they were surprisingly non-greasy in spite of being mottled in a pinto pony pattern of oil saturated patches across their surfaces. My fingers remained delightfully free of napkin dabbing while devouring the chips. The bad news being that they tasted like pretty much standard home made potato chips found everywhere. I didn't pick up the parmesan funkiness or pungency on them at all. So the chips were sort of a 3 star affair & just okay being crunchy, fried, salty enough without overdoing it, and not greasy. With the Cubano & chips being about a 3.5 star situation, it's the friendly cashier lady & cook who make Street Food Sensations a solid 4 star affair. I found them to be friendly and welcoming and fun. So kudos to the staff for being a bright addition to the sunny atmosphere of the El Vado eating scene.

Immediately when we walked into Craig's we were met with, a welcome greeting! I asked if they hand battered their chicken and to my surprise and hopes and dreams, they batter their own chicken that's in a marinade, never frozen, and freshly made per order!! Let me tell you I could taste the love and care that was put into the sandwich. The fries are cut freshly! DELICIOUS. The herb dressing was the perfect fit, and she makes that herself as well.
