    Chef Spilca

Chef Spilca and his crew are amazing. I needed to book a food truck for a staff event and this gentleman agreed to work with us. He even provided a meatless option for our staff who don't eat meat! The food and service were on point. You can tell that the Chef and his team love what they do, and we appreciate them for it. What an awesome team serving delicious food with a smile! Wishing you all the best, Desert Sky on the Fly!!

I was disappointed by the menu selections that seemed more attractive in theory than in reality. Anyway, despite the long wait, we finally got seated and ordered the famous chocolate cake slide that my best friend swears is the best thing ever. Turns out, he wasn't kidding--the cake is incredibly creamy and rich, and the ice cream makes it the perfect combination of flavors dancing in your mouth. The fried apple pie is a must-try. The Santa Fe spinach dip was my favorite appetizer--it's definitely one of the best dips I've had in a while. Rich in creaminess and cheesiness. As for the entrees, options are limited. We chose the buffalo chicken wraps and the homestyle meatloaf, since they sounded appetizing. Let's just say, while the desserts are top-tier, the rest of the food felt like comforting home-cooked dishes--nothing special that couldn't easily be made at home or ordered elsewhere without the wait. Our waitress was fantastic and made the wait worthwhile with her cheerful attitude and positivity (Brenda). The place overall gave off a cozy, homey vibe. It was clean, and they even have restrooms on-site.

I don't even know where to start but here goes. The New Mexican Philly cheesesteak, arguably my favorite dish, very very different take on what a cheesesteak usually is (not in a bad way). I was first skeptical when I ordered it, but I saw all the great reviews on the dish so I had to try. This was oddly enough my 4th favorite Philly cheesesteak I've ever had, which is weird to say because the first 3 favorites were actually in Philly and made the traditional way. Something about the spicy queso sauce and the soft fatty tasting meat just really brought it home. The huevos rancheros: every inch was flavorful , saucy, cheesy and lovely. I enjoyed even more the parts where I could also taste the tortilla at the bottom, wish it was in more of the dish but it's okay the flavors were outstanding. Another 5 star dish! Next time I'll also try it with eggs over medium. The Xmas chile cheese fries: best chile cheese fries in New Mexico! The fries themselves tasted like they were hand cut, so either they had some high quality freezer fries or they definitely cut those fries by hand. Either way I wasn't complaining! Their green chile was insanely good. We also had the Green Chile stew, the flavors and ingredients were really good. I think for people that love home cooking this will feel really nostalgic for them. Like grandmas caldo she used to make. For me, the dry texture of the beef reminded me way too much of my mom's dry / rough beef she always had in her stews . Objectively I can say it was a really nice caldo, but the tortillas, not sure how I could grab on to much of the food with it really. I think this might be a dish best eaten in house. I also tipped their staff $2 in addition to the driver tip , and they wrote a funny joke on the plate which I thought was cute haha. I kept the rating at 5 stars but I hope that management reads this review because I do have one critique. All the food was in styrofoam and non sustainable plastic. Styrofoam especially has been banned from some places including California because when heated it, it adds cancer causing chemicals into your food. I would gladly pay $0.35 per meal to receive the meals in sustainable packaging that will keep me healthy. Because of this, I think I won't be ordering from here for delivery and hope that I have time to make the 20 minute drive to go there in person. It's really good food! Found this place on DoorDash but the funny part is it's been near my house the whole time next to the barber shop I've been to plenty of times.

Only the other one in the South Valley (where we never go) has them. The tv commercials didn't say that. I did let the servers know this bc I felt it was false advertising. We got a Flight of 4 different beers and "settled" on a fried fish w salad which was ok and their grilled catfish tacos which you had to eat w a fork bc they were too messy to pick up w your fingers.. They tasted ok but the salsa and a pink sauce (?) helped to give them more flavor. The atmosphere was ok and the Friday evening crowd was arriving. We ate inside and our server, Sophia, was very good. It didn't take long to get our dinners except my partner's salad took forever! The salads are included w the meals. My salad was different and good which was a Blackeye pea, corn, & more ingredients. My experience there was disappointing since I wanted ribs and not "soggy" fish tacos. I might go back for the beer only.

Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

In a rare turn of events, both kids got the same thing, the Korean chicken bites with the sauce on the side, which was a great decision bc it did have a kick to it. The chicken itself was a bit dry. Both adults also got the pork belly flatbread. I found it a bit unbalanced with too much sauce and not enough other toppings, and the base wasn't as crispy as I prefer. Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.

I ordered a full Southern meal of Catfish, fried apples, grits w butter & honey, and Loaded Hashbrown Caserole (extra cheese & bacon bits). Catfish was okay, a bit dry but not muddy so win. Now with Hashbrown Caserole it used to have bacon bits in it... this was cheese mixed hashbrowns. The extra cheese and bacon bits didn't disappoint and helped it a lot. Apples are definitely out of the can/bag. I understand Mass production and they were okay. Grits were done right. I usually have to ask 2 or 3 times for honey when I came in in years past... today waitress brought me a whole honey bear. Dan's Southern Fried Chicken was okay. He said they injected it with salt to boost flavor. Salty was the verdict - to the point he was removing the skin to reduce salt intake - and skin on fried chicken is often one of the best parts. Now hostess was a bit short with me. I give it a whatever, not in the mood and a bit grumpy, so it totally could have been me. I give it a pass. Waitress Tasha was on top of it! She was a star of the dining experience today. Tasha was quick to refill, bring us our requests, etc. She was friendly, personable and was attentive. I asked for honey- done, drank tea down to ¼ cup - filled, boxes, to go cups the whole hoopla! Thank you Tasha for great service you made my 2.5 star rating a 3.

How bad does it get when you can make mashed potatoes taste like someone just boiled a potato and tossed it on a plate? Gravy? Again, there are seasonings that go into it. Salt and pepper are the first two. And then, the chicken and dumplings that I got tonight. Not only was there nothing but a few literal shreds of chicken, but someone scraped the bottom of the pot. There were scorched bits all through the serving I got. Two suggestions: One, send your kitchen manager out east, somewhere like Georgia that knows what food tastes like. Let them learn from a shop there, and then come back and teach the rest. Two, Just a suggestion, but *maybe* try enforcing standards in your kitchen instead of allowing this slop to ever get near a plate? Pretty sad when you lost a customer, and that customer was someone who has looked forward to Cracker Barrel since *early* childhood and on many road trips. I'll still go to other stores, but I won't be back to the one here in Albuquerque.

It's not serving tipsy college kids at two in the morning, and the quality of the food is simply healthier and less sloppy and greasy. And yeah, it costs a little more for quality food and great service, and I'm more than excited to pay for that. The place is in my backyard and I'm rooting for it all the way. I was waiting to pen a comprehensive review of everything on the menu, but that'll take a while, so I'll start with what I absolutely love: the beef. In a burrito, on a plate, on a plane or in a boat, I do very much love that tender, bright beef. Paired with a handmade flour tortilla (I know, corn is usually better, but trust me), it's going to be hard for me to explore the rest of the menu because the red meat is just straight legit. Pork comes in second place, chicken third, and as some reviews have noted, the carne asada can be tough, but that won't stop me from pairing an order of fries with a good local IPA. Speaking of, that's what I'm hoping for, an evolving experience with some tasty local brews and new dining adventures. I love the commitment to healthy cooking oils and food that's cooked to order, and the employees are clearly quite happy, which makes me feel good about supporting them. Just keep heading in the right direction, guys, these flavors are almost non-existent in Burque.
