In July, we did the privileged Vatican tour with the Sistene Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. It was our first activity in Rome, and our favorite! Lia, our tour guide, was energetic, friendly, knowledgeable, and really brought the museum, Chapel and Basilica to life. We have been raving about the tour and highly recommend this!

Maria was an exceptional tour guide for our "Rome in One Day" tour. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the city's incredible history. She explained everything in a way that was easy to understand while keeping the tour engaging and enjoyable from start to finish.

Tour guy guide purchasing our entrance tickets at 6:54am when we were supposed to have 6:30 early access.

From my understanding The Roman guy is aka The Tour Guy. We booked the 6:30am Early Access tour into the Vatican City. Well, guess what?! our tour guide was running late and we did not get in at 6:30 AM. However, the tour guide did arrive and we did get in at 6:53 am to purchase the tickets with our tour guide. (see picture). There was a representative from the tour company that inform us that we would be contacted later in the afternoon by the company to get a refund. I dare you to ask me if we got a call or refund. I'm sure most of you have guessed that the answer is NO! But hey! They did provide the audio device this time. I would be content with at least 50% refund for tour because of-the inconvenience of having to wait around & them not delivering on the skip the line or early access as advertised. That is the only reason we booked the tour with them in the first place. Maybe it was just a bad week for the company, I don't know. But it did make our experience at the beginning less pleasant.

Arvin was spectacular. He paid so much attention to detail. Really made a huge difference in Italy for us thank you so much!

Francesco was our guide for the semi private Colosseum Arena Floor, Forum and Palatine Hill. He was very knowledgeable and interactive so it made the tour so enjoyable! Well worth the extra money from a larger group.

Bogdan our guide was amazing! Not only was he very insightful, informative, and inquisitive he was also super fun, funny, and engaging! It wasn't just him talking to us or at us. He asked us questions. It's was like being in a fun class. Would definitely recommend. And if you can request a guide, ask for Bogdan!

This Rome in a Day tour was the perfect way to see the highlights. Erturk was an outstanding guide--friendly, knowledgeable, and great at explaining the history of each site. From the Vatican and Pantheon to the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum and so many Piazzas- it was a full but well-organized day. Would absolutely recommend.

I had the best tour guide in Rome. I used the tour guide twice once for the Colosseum. He was amazing. Very detailed, took his time explained everything showed us places. It made me really understand the Colosseum versus what I watched on TV. The gladiator. The second tour guy was a female. She was amazing. If only I could remember her name she took us to the Vatican St. Petersburg 16th Chapel the Jubilee, the whole 9 yards OMG she was amazing. Terrific. I loved her knowledge. She knew so much history so much information and I loved it. I will always use the tour guy, no matter where I go in Europe you guys are amazing. You have the perfect people and the good thing about it is the group it's not like 100 people it's handful sometimes 20 I think my other group was like 15 and it's fun to be together to talk you get to meet people from other countries and you get to this beautiful history with them thank you so much.

Two 2 different sauces on pasta.

Mario was our "food" tour guy. He was AMAZING!!!!! Talked about history from the Piazza that we started at and as we walked, shared intriguing history with us. So friendly & knowledgeable and the places we visited to taste & eat and sample local wine were fabulous!!! Mario is an asset to your business....dont let that young man go anywhere!

Great YouTube presence to see what this company is about. The scariest part of booking tours with these companies is whether they will be reliable when you begin your vacation. I will use this company again my next visit to Europe. The Roman Guy/ The Tour Guy experiences were all positive. Their guides were at meeting points on time and ready move at designated times and the tours finished on schedule if you had other engagements. We purchase four tours and all went without a hitch. We had a private Vatican City tour (our favorite), Pantheon tour, Cocktail and food tour, and a bus tour to crypts and catacombs. Everyone was well executed with knowledgeable hosts

A picture of the best tour guide!

Secret Food Tours offers three-hour long tours that take you on a gastronomical adventure throughout the heart of Rome. This experience is more than just delicious food, which is what makes Secret Food Tours so unique. The tour explores Piazza Navonna, a city square ripe with history, as well as the Campo Dei Fiori Market, offering sightseeing as well as culinary escapades. Along with four other visitors, we embarked on a daytime tour, which started at an intimate café in Piazza Novanna. Our tour guide Tomasso was a local Italian and incredibly knowledgeable about the city square and its rich background. Here, he introduced us to the finest Italian coffee, freshly brewed for our group. I sipped a cappuccino, which alerted my taste buds with rich, full-bodied flavor and an airy foam. I was awake and eager for the next stop. While enjoying three different types of real Roman style pizza at Forno Campo de Fiori, our tour guide made us feel so welcomed. He took great pride in his city, and it showed in his passion for both the locales and the food. Next we stopped at a specialty shop, known for fried balls of risotto, called Suppli, which basically solidified my trust in anything this delicious city had to feed me. Crispy on the outside, warm and creamy on the inside. I was excited to visit the Campo Dei Fiori Market, which as our guide informed us is the oldest market in the town. With so many fresh and beautiful vegetables, it's easy to see why the food in the area is incredibly tasty. I was pleasantly surprised to do some sightseeing during the tour, as we got to see some of the Roman ruins that dot the city and here a few stories of the many narrow streets. Whether it was Carbonara near the Jewish Ghetto, amazing cannoli at a legendary bakery, and salty Italian hams, salamis, and cheeses at 'Beppe', our guide always made us feel like locals. We ended on a sweet note with the most refreshing gelato. Our tour guide was so fun and friendly, and the food was exquisite. A real "taste" of Rome.

Instead of a memory to celebrate, we left with one none of us will forget for the wrong reasons. LivTours guides do not give guests individual paper tickets. The guide holds all admission on an electronic ticket and hands each guest a small sticker as the only proof of entry. On an extremely hot day, my sticker came loose. Our guide walked ahead with two other guests to the bookshop and, by her own account, only glanced back and saw our group heading toward the exit. She never confirmed we actually made it out and never checked that each of us still had proof of admission. When I reached the exit checkpoint, staff asked for my ticket. I had none, because LivTours never gave me one. I was told it was illegal to be in that area without a valid ticket, pulled aside, and questioned. The police were called. I stood there while my wife and children watched and had to step in to try to help me. My wife eventually pulled up our purchase receipt on her phone, and that is the only reason I was allowed to leave. LivTours admitted in writing that the guide saw our group heading toward the exit and left without confirming we made it out. She did not secure our exit. She did not check that everyone in the group actually cleared the checkpoint before she walked off with two other guests to the bookshop. Making sure a group actually exits a controlled site, not just watching them walk in that general direction, is a basic responsibility of a tour guide, especially one holding the only ticket that gives that group the right to be there in the first place. As an African American man in a foreign country, being publicly stopped, questioned, and detained by police in front of my family was humiliating in a way that is hard to put into words. This was supposed to be a trip celebrating my children's accomplishments. Instead they watched their father get pulled aside like a criminal because a tour guide walked away without making sure we had what we needed to leave. A LivTours representative called me shortly after and told me directly that a refund would be issued. Weeks later, after I put the complaint in writing, LivTours reversed course completely. They now claim the tour was "completed as planned" and that the incident was outside their control. Their own emails contradict that. They admit their guide saw us walking toward the exit and left without confirming we got out safely. They admit they do not provide physical tickets to guests. Those two facts together are exactly why this happened, and it happened because of how LivTours operates, not because of anything my family did. I would not recommend LivTours for any tour requiring facility exit past a checkpoint. Ask directly whether you will receive an individual physical ticket before you book, and get it in writing.
