Because I was waiting longer than usual I was paying more attention to the employees. When I first got there the foot bath had a used plastic basin cover still sitting in it and I had to tell the man to change it before he started my pedicure and that it was dirty and used. He changed it but was prepared to use the same one that had already been used. I watched the woman who works there dip her tools in dirty foot bath water, including the white jet cover, and set it to the side. Not cleaned. The tools she used on me were used on the person before me. She dipped them in water where my feet had been soaking and dried them on the towel my feet were at and tossed them in her bin. This was the same thing that was done with the woman prior to me. It didn't register right away what had happened but then I asked her if they were the same tools and she said yes. I then spoke with the male at the front desk and explained this to him and he didn't deny this. He said something to her about it and did not seem surprised at all about this.

The…read moreladies were indeed friendly and they are the only salon in the keys open on Sunday's which are appreciated! But unfortunately, the gel manicure was not worth it as they use products or a method that simply don't work. The following issues I experienced will keep me from ever returning or recommending: 1. Immediately after my nails were done, I had trouble running my hands through my hair without getting hair stuck underneath all of the nails. This shouldn't happen. Every time I washed my hair in the shower my hair would get pulled out from my nails because they had spaces beneath the polish and rough edges!! Now, just 7 days after I got the gel manicure, the entire nails are popping off with little no no effort (see pictures!) you can clearly tell they were never properly stuck down to any of my nail as there is zero damage to the nail. They are coming off like stick on nails. My gel nails normally last 3+ weeks as I am easy on my hands and rarely swim in the pool or ocean. I've never seen this happen before with a gel manicure. 2. The lady painting my nails left space between my cuticles and where she painted on every nail. The polish should come right up to the cuticle however with the space she left, it looked like my nails had already grown out for a week+ when I was leaving the salon. :( 3. The colors. I went in requesting a tan/nude color. They didn't have one I fancied on the fake nail pallet so the lady sold me on a color she considered looked pink in the bottle but nude on the finger nail so I trusted her. After the first layer was down, the color was clearly pink and not tan/nude. She said to wait til all 3 coats were down as it will look more tan. One hour later, 3 coats down, and my nails are a light pink... not a tan/brown nude. Again, see pics. She asked me after they were done if it is too pink but what is the point after it's already done and we just spent an hour painting them? :/ Overall, Very disappointing as I spent $100 hard earned dollars here for a manicure/pedi that was supposed to last 3 weeks but only lasted 6 days before peeling off. :( I am a local in the upper keys so throwing away money during our slow season isn't appreciated.

And even though Joseph was wrapping up his previous client, he came over to say hello and check things out (since I'm a new client) just before I got under the sink. Again, very important. Next, Joseph asked questions and actually LISTENED before taking the first snip. I have slightly curly thin hair cut in long layers about shoulder length, and have been "trying out" a side bang. It's been months since I've had it cut Joseph was terrific about explaining what he was doing and getting everything back in shape. He also gets the "wash and wear" lifestyle and didn't insist on blowing my curls out straight like so many stylists do. Why do you do that, stylists?!! It's going to last 30 seconds out in this humidity! The ease of booking an appointment online was just one more added bonus. I was just hoping a last minute trip could be enjoyed a little more by a nice, relaxing massage. Mind you I was trying to book a $500+ service. Once I told her what I was looking to book... BLISS PACKAGE Experience pure bliss at our beachside pergola, tucked away on our quiet nature trail. The sounds of wind rustling through the natural hammock and the gentle waves of the Florida bay bring you to a state of deep relaxation, helping to calm your mind and body. 50 minutes $185 80 minutes $250 (for 2) We finally agreed on a time for the appointment for that coming Thursday. Arriving at the resort on (Monday) Valentine's Day we explored the beach, tiki bar, grand lawn, pool, and the "quiet nature trail." I was trying my hardest to find where they would perform our massage services. Once Thursday arrived we made our way to the salon, 15min before our service that was scheduled at 11:30am. We were surprised and a bit worried that it was still closed with the lights turned out even though we noticed the sign on the door said open at 10am when we went for breakfast. Shortly after 11 we were allowed in to fill out necessary paperwork. When asked about the location of the massage, I was told it would be in the middle of the "quiet nature trail." Well, the trail was quiet on Monday because it was cold, windy, and not a lot of guests were out. However, on Thursday, the prettiest day of our trip and why we decided to book it outside next to the ocean waves, it was the busiest we had seen the resort. Understandably! Apparently, the salon needs to give the resort several hours notice to approve the use of Bakers Cay pergola. This was not previously handled by the salon. In their poorly kept records, they did not have us down for the "Bliss Package" that was described on their website. And apparently, the difference with getting the package, we were told, was that we would receive a bottle of champagne. Ok, thanks, but the quiet relaxing massage outside with beautiful scenery and the sounds of the waves was what we were really hoping for when we made the appointment a week ago. The website didn't even mention champagne. I don't want this to be all negative because once Sarah got me on her massage table, her technique and overall performance was PHENOMENAL!!! I would give her 5 STARS without hesitation and r!! It was a real shame that she had to apologize for our poor experience. For the resort to be nominated for a Travel + Leisure 2022 World's Best Award and have a salon that is that poorly run, I was very disappointed. Now I know why it always looked closed the entire time we were there for our vacation. If I were a guest looking for a great massage experience, I would find Sarah and book through her directly! Maybe the owners should let someone else run it while they focus on hair or maybe find another location where they can just specialize in hair services. It blows my mind that this location is not held to a higher standard at providing amazing experiences for all the guests.
