It's also refreshing when going to small town in the uk and the locals not being so hostile because of your London accent and listening to comments about how expensive London is and how we all look down on the rest of the country. All of which I have to say is usually due to jealousy. Apologies, back to the review. Nice fish, decent prices and friendly people but only visit if somehow in your lives you find yourselves in a sleep seaside town in England called Bognor Regis.

Our favorite are the breakfasts, you can choose what size and tea/coffee and toast are included and they aren't greasy. They also do a selection of home made cakes. As it turned out, it was somewhat more of a trip to the zoo than I had anticipated. So many more foreign accents than Sussex... And there seemed to be zombielike vagrants appearing from all angles! Seeking to somewhat rekindle my jaded view of what was once the British royal family's favourite seaside town, I popped into Macari's for some nostalgic snackage! After standing around trying to decide what I would like to order, it struck me! I - need - a - BANANA - SPLIT!!! That was it. That was my answer. I placed my order with the friendly Eastern European lady behind the counter only to have her colleague remind her that they were out of bananas! Fail! When they finally produced some babanas from a local store she set about her masterpiece of ice cream... and delicious it was! It was even aethetically pleasing. She fussed over all of her customers. It struck me watching the staff just how different this place is to Starbucks. Much more friendly and no extra charge for a glass of iced water (see my review of rip off Starbucks Portsmouth). Costa also sells Coke Zero which the other lot don't - ice cold coke is great when the temperature is steaming. We were delighted that the place had effective air conditioning as it was 34c - hotter than Barcelona. Costa now advertises that it has linked up with Marks & Spencer for food so it's a touch of real class in their sandwiches, wraps and sausage rolls. They had free WiFi, the seating was comfortable and their toilet facilities were clean with paper towels provided to dry hands. Go Costa.
