This was another must for my Melbourne trip, the roadkill menu. But when we were there on Wednesday, they didn't have it. From the regular menu, they were offering a venison dish.
I decided to order the venison, while my partner the kangaroo steak. We also ordered the charcuterie plate. When the charcuterie plate came, it was huge. It included over 6 types of meats: a pork terrine, liver pate, a fish portion, duck breast, kangaroo steak, and cured salmon. The plate alone was enough for 2 people to share of dinner. The liver pate must have been a good 1 inch thick and about a size of a nice slice of pound cake. It was my favorite of all the choices. Fatty, fatty, and fatty.
My venison dish was cooked nicely. The meat was nicely flavored and lean. My partners kangaroo steak was also very tasty. I enjoyed his more than mines.
I was a little disappointed of not having the roadkill menu, as that was my original reason of visiting the Royal Mail. But the charcuterie plate and my venison made up for my disappointment. Stick with the charcuterie plate and see if you're hungry after that. One man/woman cannot eat that alone. read more
