A great place for custom cakes! This Easter cake fed about 30 people and cost around $80. It was a masterpiece! And super moist. This coconut cake was triple layered and had delicious icing on the inside and out. Their cupcakes are the best, but their cakes are superb! They can tailor make your requests, and are real helpful if you go in to order. You can also call them and describe what you're wanting. Then when it's ready, they have handy pick-up hours. Probably my favorite cake bakery in Ama along with being a superb cupcakery! This doesn't even touch their in-store service and great cafe! Worth it. read more

Went in this evening Saturday, August 23rd about 5:15pm. Walked up to the counter to make our selection. The lady walks up to the counter and asks a lady who walked in after us what she wanted. Of course, that customer was not considerate enough to say "they were here first". Instead she jumped right in and gave her order. Once she paid out, that same employee that skipped over us, looked behind us and asked those people if they could be helped, at which time I asked "so you're just going to skip us?" She said "I thought you were already being helped" even though the other employees were obviously helping other customers. After about 10 seconds of consideration, I told my wife "I've lost my appetite for this place" and we walked out. read more

Me and my family came from CA and were visiting my mom in TN, and we were 3 minutes from the shop and I called the number to ask if we can still come to get cupcakes and the lady on the phone was super nice and said if we pull thru the drive through she would take care of us. I'm reviewing this based on our visit in the morning, just short of lunch. The menu looked good, but I will just discuss about the sweets we got. First of all, the fancier version of Ding Dongs. I don't know if by making them shiny is supposed to taste better, but it worked. It was as if it was freshly baked and not out of box. Oh wait. Along with some purchases of cupcakes and mini chocolate crusted pie, this was a good move to visit this place! Not to mention the pizza cookie with frosting and mini M&Ms on top. Which somehow I did not eat the whole thing in one take (finished it the next day as I ate it after placing it in the refrigerator, just as delicious). It wasn't the size of a normal pizza, but perfectly sweet, bigger than a regular chips ahoy cookie. Although the one thing I regret is not trying their banana pudding. If I ever return to Armarillo, Texas...I will be sure to get it. Oh, and I also got one of their keto cookies. That as well satisfied my taste buds. This quaint little bakery has recently expanded to now offer lunch amidst the sweets. FOOD: We stopped in for lunch and I had the Chinese Ginger Sesame Salad, which was outstanding! My friend had half the salad and the Cubano sandwich. She really enjoyed both as well. On my recipe for this salad, I lose the bow tie pasta and add more cabbage and chow Leon noodles. ATMOSPHERE: Super family friendly and spacious. The cupcakes are hard to overlook, but the real entertainment is watching the skilled bakers make the cupcakes and custom cakes. Real works of art. SERVICE: You go to the counter and place your lunch order. They bring it out, but that is as much service as you get. I was disappointed that although we ordered water with our meal, we got this small 6 oz. styrofoam cup, which we had to keep refilling. The food is excellent and so are the cupcakes. We have always gotten good food and dessert from here. What made the experience less than great was every single high chair was broken. Broken straps on every chair. Crusted over with food from multiple meals. No one would sit at a broken dirty table, and it isn't ok to expect a mom to sit their baby down in the same situation. It's unsafe and unacceptable. We couldn't stay and enjoy lunch I cannot say I can recommend Ruffled Cup to families until that gets fixed. This place is adorable! I suspect it had this decor when they moved in although I certainly don't know and didn't think to ask. It has the look of a 1950s soda shop which seems kind of perfect for the little Bakery. They have some pretty displays of their wares, mostly a wide variety of various flavored cupcakes, some cookies and bars, and I think the lady said they sometimes have little Tarts also. There are several tables and booths where you can sit down to eat their delectable products and off to the side there is a little booth where they sell a special made edible cookie dough served in ice cream cones. I thought that was an ingenious idea. Even though I had eaten two small cupcakes and was full I asked for a taste of the cookie dough just to get an idea and it was pretty delicious. I don't know if the flavors vary from day to day but what I saw yesterday when I was there was a regular chocolate chip, a chunky chocolate chip, and a dark chocolate version that looked downright decadent. I didn't read their reviews until after I had been in there and I can't say I disagree with all of them. The workers were very friendly and welcoming, the cupcakes were delicious. I'm actually not a big cake fan because it's a bit dry to suit me unless it has a good frosting on it but I think I liked their chocolate cake even better than the frosting, as odd as that sounds. The frosting was very good and I'm the kind of person that likes to request the corner piece of cake on a sheet cake so I'll get extra icing but their icing was pretty sweet. I don't know how that can be possible because that's what icing is, sugar and butter or whatever ingredient they are mixed with so how can you say it's too sweet? But I definitely got sweeted out from the two cupcakes. In fact, I had to take a break halfway through the second one and come back to it a few minutes later. I probably shouldn't have tried to tackle two in one sitting but I really had a sweet tooth and they both looked so good. Anyway, the chocolate cake was moist and delicious, some of the best I've ever had, and the frosting was piled on an inch thick. I didn't have any problem getting anyone's attention both when I ordered and when I went up later to request a sample of the cookie dough. There was a steady stream of people coming in to order various amounts and the girls appeared to be bringing large trays of cupcakes out regularly which must mean they are selling a lot. I heard several people ordering the strawberry cupcakes so I figured they must be good. This is actually the 3rd or 4th Bakery I've been in town, though I went to the others for lunch and then ordered a sweet at the end. This one ranks right up there with the best of them. I asked if they had any non-sweet items and was told they also had kolaches so maybe sometime when I'm looking for a different place to have lunch I'll go back and try those. read more

PROS I've been a supporter of The Ruffled Cup for quite some time. I stop by pretty regularly to pick up goodies for friends, coworkers, and pretty much any other occasion that calls for yummy sweets. I'll say that all of the food is great including their lunch. I recently ordered a cake there with no issues. I came in and ordered the cake in person paying no mind really to what day it was. The cake was made, it was delish, everything went well. BIG CON - Order Issue A couple of weeks later I came in to get some goodies for friends and to place an order for a birthday cake but was told that they could not take my order in person as they have designated days and times when orders can be taken. The times they presented weren't feasible for me as I work a regular 8-5 job and don't live in Amarillo. I mentioned this to the two young ladies at the front and they pointed me to an email address that was taped to the counter. There was a woman who was behind the counter decorating who I guess had overheard my question and she pointed for the girls to give me the email address and added that I could send pictures with the email or "we could even do things by voicemail if needed." She mentioned that the specific times were in place because bakers simply could not keep up with decorating and taking orders. The young ladies offered to take my number down to have someone call me but I told them that if the email was enough then I would just email. They said that the email would work. I took a picture of the email address and went home. A few days later I emailed the address given to me to place the order and provided a picture with example of what I wanted. I didn't hear from anyone in 48 hrs so I sent a follow-up email requesting an update or notification if they would not be able to fulfill my order as the date of pickup would be the next day (evening) but there was no reply to the follow-up within 24 hours so I called. I was asked if I filled out a form to which I replied no and explained that I had been told to email to order. I was told that the email address that was given to me is not for ordering but rather following up after an initial (order) form has been completed. The person helping me went into the inbox of the email address and was able to find both my initial email and my follow-up. She stated that there was no way she could have known the email was in there as there was no order form for my order. She was apologetic and told me she would not be able to have the cake done as it was not baked but mentioned being able to get me some cupcakes a few times (I imagine the ones they already have baked, you'll see why in a bit). I told her that the cake was to take to someone out of town and that she likes the particular flavor and I wanted a particular color of frosting. She stated that she could scrape off the frosting from some cupcakes and do something in the color I wanted but they was the best she could do. I declined. The whole point of ordering was so I could take a special birthday cake to a dear, dear friend who now lives out of state. I was a little shocked that I would be offered cupcakes with icing scraped off and then redone. Idk. Maybe that's just me and it wouldn't be so bad but cupcakes don't equal a cake. At this point I didn't expect for them to do magic and produce a cake for me out of thin air but at least a 5% off offer would have been nice as a good faith effort. Something! I can firmly say that after this big disappointment this business will not be the first one I consider in the future which is a shame since I was a consistent supporter. read more

Employees and I'm guessing the possible owner will make eye contact and walk right by you. I've come in and gave them my business at least 3 times a month for the last year. This is my first review. To me, customer service needs to be just as good as the food. 4 stars for food. 1 star for the hospitality/customer service. Maybe it's Amarillo? Went in to just get cupcakes but I had lunch which was a half turkey sandwich with French onion soup. The sandwich was great and the soup was one of the best I ever had. They make it everyday so you could have that or the soup of the day which was tomato and basil. It looked good too. I've heard horror stories of how horrible the staff is to each other and have seen it myself. I will not support a business that allows bullying amongst their employees to continue to happen. I've been on a gluten free diet for years and it's hard to find good tasty sweets, but this place is amazing. I ordered one of all their gluten free cupcakes and a sugar cookie. Today I asked if they were out of cheesecake or if they just didn't have any in the display case. The boy cleaning the case very rudely said they only sell it on weekdays. The lady standing behind me half-jokingly commented that she was glad I asked before she did. I guess if asking questions about flavors or availability of flavors/products is such a burden, then tell your owners to put up a menu board. When I've gone in on a weekday lunch, the staff's attitude is much better.
