This venue was recommended by friends. With a group of friends we booked a table for the beginning of December 2010. We confirmed our menu choices by phone before the date. On arrival at 7.30pm, the front of house denied that we had pre-ordered and said that we'd arrived too early. We waited for over 45 minutes to receive our drink orders; another hour before our starters arrived and 10.15pm before our main courses arrived. Some of the food was cold - and was returned to the kitchen. One of the guest's meat (pork) was raw. On questioning this, we were told that 'Chef said it was cooked in a bath for 90 minutes to that's okay'. But it isn't okay - if pork ISN'T cooked, it is potentially a health hazard.
The quality of food was, at best okay - but for the price, not acceptable. The fact that some of the food was inedible, either through it not being cooked or already cold (not even luke warm) was appalling.
The level of service and the clear attitude of the chef was very poor. The waiters appeared to be hiding from the guests. Other tables actually walked out because they'd been waiting so long. In our case, we had to leave to get back to our babysitter.
The quality of a venue is measured by how they deal with problems. There were a number of problems here; notably that they didn't appear to have enough front of house staff to deal with a busy restaurant. Extra tables had been put in - no doubt to squeeze people in for pre-Christmas meals. The attitude of the staff when we arrived 'You've arrived too early' - no, we booked for 7.30pm and we confirmed this. 'You haven't pre-booked' - yes we have, we spoke to you three days ago, was dreadful.
We are not people that complain about these things, but the whole evening was a disaster and there wasn't any apology or response. My husband emailed the restaurant afterwards, but it wasn't acknowledged.
Now 5 couples and all of their friends won't be going to this restaurant and I would recommend you steer clear of it too. read more
