We also appreciated the contractors he brought in to build custom cabinetry and countertops. These guys (particularly Rocky, the cabinet maker) are true craftsmen. Visitors who have come by since the reno can't tell the difference between the original cabinets and the new. We love love love working with Tony and Dawn and hope to do so again in a heartbeat. Plus, their office has recently moved to Tiburon (next to Sausalito in Marin County) so (just across the Golden Gate bridge), super close to SF, a huge convenience. I met with principal designers Carol Perry and Dawn Carlson, and felt that I was in good hands. They were knowledgeable, friendly and positive. As we worked together I appreciated their systematic process, and their customer care. I had lots of great ideas and, combined with their expert skills, together we arrived at a design that I am thrilled with. The MAS team works in a variety of styles according to their clients' taste, so I was happy that they could adapt to my vision for the space. Their process is professional and direct. Their systems for communication, drawing, purchasing, etc made it so that not only did I know what was happening (and what I was being billed for) all along the way, but also they shielded me from errors that may have otherwise without these protections. They also jumped into action when I needed things quickly! They have integrity and care about their clients' timelines and will produce drawings and such in response to sudden deadlines that can occur when working with a contractor, builders, etc. The MAS team has great taste, an organized and yet accessible process, and are easy to work with. Plus, it was fun working with them! In the end, I am confident in their ability to provide a chic, comfortable, and unforgettable space for my family. I highly recommend Team MAS! Lauren

We…read moreknew we wanted a total makeover for our place, but trying to find a team that actually handles the 'boots on the ground' construction side and the high-end design is way harder than it looks. After talking to a few different firms, Kanika Design just felt like the right fit. Kanika really listened to what we wanted. I've always been a bit nervous about using bold colors, but she pushed us (in a good way!) for a deeper color palette in the main living areas. It looks incredible. Kanika found us so many unique, high-quality furniture pieces that you just won't find at a big-box store. The biggest thing for us was logistics. Once the design process completed, their team handled everything - architectural, permit headache, and construction. Anyone who has done a remodel knows things never go 100% perfectly, but whenever an issue popped up, they were on top of it immediately. They kept the contractors moving and kept us updated on the budget and what was happening next. It's a relief to finally be done after 2 years and have a home that feels like us but way better. I can't recommend Kanika and her team enough. We're still obsessed with how everything turned out.

I had a great experience working with Annie and the rest of the team at ALI to furnish my home…read more I recently purchased a new construction home, and wanted help with furnishing the space. I loved the space as it was built and didn't want extensive changes, but window treatments were important to me -- the house has more windows than walls and didn't come with any way to cover them up -- which ultimately necessitated some remodeling. After selecting and interviewing 6 design firms based on their reviews and portfolios, I brought on Annie and her team to help. From the beginning of the process, I was impressed by Annie's depth of knowledge, her solution-oriented mindset, and her commitment to matching the space to my needs. Throughout the process, I found Annie and her team a delight to work with. They were always friendly, prepared, and efficient. More importantly to me, they were deeply collaborative. There were times when I knew exactly what I wanted (e.g. laying out a project space or cabinetry for an entertainment center), even showing up with custom specs or sketches, and Annie's team adopted them and made them happen. On the other hand, there were times when I struggled to decide on something, and they stepped in and offered their own recommendations. They were great at both, and switched effortlessly as needed. Even for things outside of ALI's scope, nothing gave Annie pause, and she always had someone on speed dial to solve the problem. My home has high vaulted windows, and I told Annie up front that I wanted motorized shades. She immediately agreed that made sense (another designer I spoke with seemed overwhelmed by the prospect), and subsequently brought in a general contractor, a drapery fabricator, and an installer. Not only were they also all friendly, reliable, and efficient, but they shared Annie's collaborative style. I felt shared ownership over the solutions we came up with, and the end result is fantastic -- it looks like it could have been built with the house. I would happily bring any of them back for future work. End-to-end, the whole project took about 14 months until installation (with a few stragglers), a month behind Annie's initial target. We were also slightly under budget, which surprised me. Throughout the process, Annie offered great options mostly at or around the target price, but often included a higher-end option. In some cases, I *loved* those options and chose to go over budget. But even though we ended up well over budget on cost of goods, we were so far under budget on time billing and other costs that it more than made up for it, a reflection of her team's efficiency. But most importantly, I am delighted with the results. Everything is beautiful, comfortable, works for my needs, and filled with creative touches that I would never have selected on my own. I feel like I got exactly what I wanted out of the process, and I would happily bring Annie and her team back if I need interior help in the future.

Her creativity and vision combined with her great expertise brought our homes to life in unique and beautiful ways. We first teamed up with Annie on an extensive remodel of our historic San Francisco home that included a full kitchen/dining area gutting, multiple new bathrooms, paint, art consulting and soft goods throughout. Our architect had recommended ALI based on Annie's experience updating historic homes like ours, but what stood out for us was how direct and organized her process was from day one, including a high level of budget transparency. One of the highlights of working with Annie over the course of this two-year project was her ability to cater to our preferences while also pushing us out of our comfort zone when she saw the opportunity for something really special. Two years into living in our home, many of our favorite elements are those things we never would have considered had she not nudged us toward them. Another strength of Annie's was listening to our needs when it came to functionality--with two young boys at home, durability and practicality were often a factor for us. In those cases, Annie managed to produce designs that elegantly and creatively addressed those needs, from hidden pull-out drawers for toy storage in a custom sofa to upholstery fabrics that are durable while still feeling luxurious. Annie's lighting selection and sense of color were also highlights for us. The fixtures she helped us select for our foyer and living room are far from simple sources of light, they are true works of art, hand-made by artisans from her unique repertoire of craftspeople. As for color, she pushed us (in a good way) to consider applications that initially felt dramatic but ultimately turned those areas into visually lush spaces that we love to be in. Our second project with Annie and team was for our vacation home in Wine Country, involving mainly soft goods and design consulting for both indoor and outdoor areas. Outdoors included new construction of a kitchen and pool with surrounding living areas. In contrast to our San Francisco home with all of its historic embellishments and the design to match, the Sonoma home is all modern, clean lines. Annie didn't skip a beat in pivoting to a more relaxed, organic style befitting of the more rural terroir. Whether indoors or out, the resulting spaces are comfortable yet elegant, and once again Annie delivered designs that are both beautiful yet functional. Annie and team helped turn both of our houses into homes that we love living in and that visitors constantly compliment us on. From managing the myriad details passing between us and our architect and contractor during construction, to presenting us with furniture and lighting pieces that we fell in love with, Annie made our renovation journeys inspiring and fun and we've been enjoying the results ever since.

What really sets Catrina apart is how easy and enjoyable she is to work with. She's friendly, professional, and takes the time to walk you through the process so nothing ever feels overwhelming. If you're looking for a designer who combines creativity, expertise, and a personal touch, I highly recommend LOCZI Design!

The short and sweet of it all: First, you're going to love…read moreyour "new" home! Second, Loczi will know what you want, maybe even better than you do. Third, you're going to have lots of fun, and you'll be sad when Loczi leaves. Fourth, your contractor and subcontractors will make you happy, or Loczi will help you find ones that will. Fifth, Loczi provides value well beyond traditional interior design. Sixth, when they are done your biggest challenge will be deciding which room is your favorite. We kid you not! Some details: Loczi performed a substantial interior design project for us. We knew we needed a good design team, but we'd never worked with one before. We had many trepidations as we evaluated a wide range of designers and their websites. We started our Loczi interaction with a long discussion with Mike. He listened intently to our perspectives and needs. In our first example of Loczi's great intuition, Mike proposed a business approach that fit us perfectly. Subsequently, Mike and Diana went through each room with us and discussed our thoughts on the scope of work. We were impressed not only their creativity but also by their careful note taking. We signed a contract right away. Ironically as it would turn out, Mike proposed one idea that I really didn't like. But the more I thought about his idea, the more I realized it really fit our needs. In our "new house" designed by Loczi, almost every room feels like our favorite room, but Mike's idea made our dining room not only my most favorite, but also our most effective use of space. Diana is an amazing designer. Mike, Catrina and Paige were behind the scenes reviewing the project and helping her whenever she needed them. Its one example of how Loczi's business processes are as advanced as their designs. They have a continuous improvement and customer satisfaction mindset that is refreshing in today's high stress world. If there's a problem, they get it fixed quickly. Loczi's designs are exemplary. When they tell you they can do some amazing things with paint, believe it. They have a "secret" technique for revealing a client's color preferences (sry I won't tell). We love how our interior and exterior are painted! They even came up with a perspective design in our stairwell that transformed our open plan stairwell into a special space. Collaborating with Loczi is easy, fun, and effective. They'll make Pinterest easy for you. Their mood boards are beautiful and they provide great choices. Our interactions with Diana were everything we hoped. Diana can whip out an elevation or drawing so you can visualize the design. If something didn't feel right or didn't fit our budget, alternatives came quickly and addressed our concerns. And if we ever wanted to understand the "why" of the design, Diana explained it so we understood and would be confident in our choice. One particular challenge we had was our primary bathroom. Originally built in 1985 and partially remodeled in 2009 without a designer, it was a mishmash of materials that didn't fit together very well. However, we didn't want to incur the expense of redoing the stone shower and separate tile bathtub. Loczi went to work and made the disparate materials look like they were intentional and the room was converted from a disappointment to fun loving space! And, Loczi can do much more. Diana designed a crucial piece of furniture for us that is beautiful and comfortable. When we couldn't find a rug to fit a special design need, Diana also designed the rug that did. Diana even prepared a guide for us so that if we needed to do something ourselves, we would know what colors and textures would work best in each room. We've used it for house plants and pots, pillows and throws, accessories, etc. Loczi knows some great subcontractors. Their custom window covering contractor was excellent. We not only have beautiful window coverings in our bedroom, but we no longer have light leaking in and waking us up. Specialty services like hanging art, reupholstering furniture, and window films become fun projects instead of time-consuming diversions. Their window film expert convinced us not to use his window film but instead use a sheer window covering provided by another contractor. And if you find your own subcontractor, don't be surprised to find out that they know who Loczi is and that they want to make both you and Loczi happy. Your general contractor also will see the value to their business in making Loczi happy. We had a painter who wasn't performing. Loczi found us another painter who performed better and cost less, and also smoothed the way with the general contractor. A remodel can be a tough project to undertake. When you use Loczi, you know you have a team of people that always has your back and your best interests in mind.
