Wow, what a unique and magical gallery! Bubble Street Gallery - and the art within - is so whimsical and magical. Usually I can cruise through galleries as it's not all my style, but even with this being one artist and style, I had to look closely at each one. We didn't walk out with any purchases as most was out of our price range, but we really enjoyed looking through - and it put the artist on my radar. I enjoyed that they had puzzles and other less expensive options as well. Highly recommend taking a look through if you're in Sausalito! read more

I saw a few negative reviews here and was a bit surprised. I own two Daniel Merriam original watercolors, including "Euphoria," which is featured on page 65 of his first book, "The Impetus of Dreams." I also have one called, "Chili Peppers" that I love. More importantly is how I came to own these. Shortly after I was married in late 2001 to a beautiful artist, we were in bed looking at different art magazines and I came across one with a painting by Daniel. I was enthralled. Over a few weeks my wife and I decided we would go to San Francisco and up to Portland and Seattle. I wondered what would happen if I reached out to Daniel. He responded and was more than gracious to us. When we got into SF, he invited us to his home and we were able to see large projects in the making and multiple paintings he had that were ready for sale. One was Euphoria. It had been painted years before but he believed it was harder to sell due to prurient views some had of mild nudity. What truly stood out though was Daniel as a human being. Art was truly his passion and people were his other passion. We were treated as if we were old friends. I have purchased other art from other artists, and I have commissioned art. These two will be in my heart forever. Daniel, thank you for a moment in time! It is still cherished decades later. read more

Usually when I stumble across an art gallery in my travels, I find either snobbery or just simply, bad art. Sometimes, however, I find something incredibly special, that moves me and speaks to my heart. My finding Bubble Street Gallery was somewhat serendipitous because I was hoping to find some magic out there, that would infuse my own quest for adventure and creativity. I found romance, nostalgia, eroticisms and fantasia all rapped into one in this incredibly unique display of art. Inviting gallery on the Main Street in Sausalito makes it stand out. The gallery was tastefully decorated with beautiful artwork: paintings and pottery pieces by various artists. The lady who was managing the store at the time of our visit was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I am absolutely disgusted by the management at this gallery. I am a student at San Francisco State University and I was prompted by one of my classes to visit a local art gallery in the Bay Area and write a report on the gallery and the art displayed. This gallery was not only open to the public but was also selling product, art and books to sell. So I go in, polite and ask about the art. Wether the artwork was printed, painted on canvas etc. When I take out my notebook to, you know, takes notes on the paintings I was drawn to the most, I was told by the curator, "Hi this is not a museum, this is a gallery owned by the artist himself." And I was politely, even though, rudely, asked to leave. I even mentioned the report needed to be specifically on a local BAY AREA ARTIST GALLERY and not a museum. The woman even said, " Good luck on your report." Disgusting. If the gallery was supposed to be private, or closed off to patrons who pay, then there should be a sign or advertisement for it. As a member of the public, I should NOT be denied access to a PUBLIC artist gallery, simply for being an observer of art, and for being a student. And to be blatant, this was OBVIOUS discrimination, because as a student, I wasn't going to be buying the artwork in the gallery. The artist, Daniel Merriam, is super talented, and his work is beautiful, but the art consultant is managing this gallery poorly, because obviously, if you're not wearing Chanel or waving around $5,000, obviously you're not welcome in the gallery. read more

Like the other reviewer said: Children are not welcome at this store. We didn't even go in - we were getting food from the place next door (great sandwiches!) and were parked in front. We were there for maybe 5 minutes and the first interaction with the person working there was the guy coming out and swearing at my husband and our 5 year old, "get the f-- off our private property. I told him three times to stop putting sh-- into the fountains. The owner saw him throwing sh-- into the fountains." That was the first interaction! Our kid *was* exploring the fountains (he wanted to know how they work) but wasn't throwing things in them. Even if they confused us with another family, you don't come out swearing at children. read more

The art in this gallery is absolutely beautiful. Fantastical, whimsical, wonderful. We were captivated by the many pieces that graced the gallery. The sale woman, however, was a complete disappointment and wrecked what could have been a perfectly marvelous experience. She was rude, short and nearly ushered us out of the gallery once she gauged we were more admirers than serious buyers. We could have bought, we would have bought, but she positively wrecked it for us. If you wish to ruin your vacation, visit this gallery. Otherwise, it's not worth the insult and injury you will endure from this awful woman. read more

Daniel Merriam's art is gorgeous and extremely accessible. Every time you look, you see more and more derails in his paintings. They're so imaginative, I think his would be a great gallery to bring kids if you want to expose them to art. Bubble Street Gallery is an amazing and visceral experience that should be included in every trip to the Bay Area. It is impossible to describe the genius of Daniel Merriam's work; it needs to be seen and appreciated first hand. If you are lucky enough to visit the gallery, you will be greeted and made to feel welcome by Arleen, who is a fountain of knowledge and a pleasure to interact with. She is there to enrich your experience if you let her. We first visited the gallery in March of 2021 (from Southern Cal) and just returned for our second visit this past weekend (April 2021). I highly recommend a visit, and if it's possible for you to acquire a piece (or two), definitely do it! read more

My husband dropped in with our 22 month old daughter (who was behaving quite well) to admire some of the artwork. Coming from a family of artists on both sides we are always looking to expose our daughter to art. The lady that was working completely ruined the experience. She gave my husband a terrible look like "why would you bring her in here?" Our daughter was saying "pretty" "cute" and she was looking at our daughter as if she was a disgusting human. It was beyond insulting. I would almost rather her say thanks for coming inside but this is not the right setting for a toddler. She was pretty terrible. read more

I came here to write about the old woman who mistreated me at the gallery, but I see that other people have already done that. I didn't know about Daniel until I passed by his gallery and was completely engulfed in his dream world, that is until the old lady started giving me disdainful looks and talking nonsense. She said that people are stupid for buying food, that food wasn't important, but that art last a lifetime. Ok... At the end of my visit I was about to snap a picture of one painting and she said "oh you're not going to take picture of that!". I thought, you know, you can nicely tell me that I cannot take a picture and I wouldn't take it, but since you think you can be rude to others I'm going to take the picture when you're not looking. I did (it is glorious!) I was going to buy a painting an a puzzle but then decided not to since I couldn't stand to interact with her anymore. I then asked for a business card to check Daniel online so I wouldn't have her ruining my moment, and she disdainfully said "it's around there..." and turned her face away. I obviously couldn't see where the business cards were. I lost it, I had to step out. All I want to say is that having a person like this is a bad business move. She may also need some help since it is not normal for a person to be so rude to others for no reason, I will definitely add her to my daily prayers as this bitter behavior must come from a place of pain. At one time this was my best friends and my favorite place to visit. We both bought art (in the grands), books, pottery and jewelry. At one time the sale people always spend time with us. However, after we purchased our art and returned, we were forgotten and names unremembored. It felt horrible because we loved visiting Bubble Street in our spare time. Upon ever art show the salesperson ailleen forgot who we were even though we visited biweekly and bought art. I was so saddened as this art gallery felt like it could be a great home for us walking and enjoying the view. I once loved my time exploring there. However, now I never want to go back and I am thinking to destroy the print I bought. I've never, nor my friend felt so humiliated after we spent roughly 7k. read more

The gallery I love coming back to again and again. My husband and I discovered Daniel Merriam's work three years ago, when I first came to SF and we were being tourists , so we took ferry to Sausalito and walked around. We stumbled upon Bubble Street gallery and fell in love with this unique art. It reminded us a little of Salvador Dali and Susan Seddon Boulet art. But the details are nothing I've seen before! One day we will get our own piece and for now we keep buying new puzzles that are about $20/ box and are made of 1000 pieces; it takes us about 15 hours to put it together. I wil keep coming back to this place because I LOVE the artwork. HOWEVER, I am always pestered by the sales lady here every single time - she is very aggressive about trying to sell the artwork and it does tend to ruin the experience of coming in here (I've been in here 3 times so far and 2 out of the three times were with other people who have also experienced the sales lady's persistence). I just want to quietly look at the artwork in piece and not have to deal with her constantly trying to talk me into buying something. read more

I am usually in Sausalito on the weekends, and I got the chance on Saturday afternoon, January 11, to visit the gallery. I try to stop by when I can and just walk through the gallery and admire the beautiful works that basically remind me of my dreams. Every single piece is so whimsical and magical and seem to play with my psyche. That's why I visit the gallery: to step out of my stressful world and enter into a brief, but surreally heart melting mind melt, even for just a few minutes. Unfortunately there's a sales clerk who works there who seemed a little unfriendly, I'm not quite sure why she's there-she almost seems like she was forcibly pulled in by an employee who needed to take a lunch break, and it's as if she didn't want to be there. She had sort of a warden vibe to her. It was very uncomfortable. And it really just sort of pulled me out of my moment, and I ended up needing to leave earlier than I had wanted. I did end up buying the book "Built on Dreams Alone" on the way out. I figured I can just look through the pieces in the book instead of having to come back there with the uncomfortable sales lady behind the counter. read more

Bubble Street is a beautiful and welcoming gallery space. As you walk in you feel like you are walking into the world of Daniel Merriam. You find paintings and sculptures large and small arranged in a way that makes it easy to navigate for the first time visitor. The staff was so attentive and ready to answer questions but gives you plenty of time on your own to enjoy the works without distractions. They also have a beautiful assortment of decorative and artistic items to collect. I was particularly thankful that the artist joined us and took time away from his work to talk to us about the pieces. The parking can be a little challenging but since we took the ferry over, it was a few yards walk. Definitely stopping by again next time I'm there. read more

This artist (Daniel Merriam) is amazing! Every painting is like a fairy tale, intricate, beautiful vivid colors! The saleslady really did interrupt the experience by her hard sell, but she is well intentioned and has a few interesting tidbits about the artist...well worth the trip over to Marin to walk around the fort and base of the bridge for the view across the bay (in the distance Angel Island and the Presidio serve as a backdrop for the blue water and rocks) and on the way back feast your eyes on man made beauties in the many galleries and shops of Sausalito as well... read more

While walking around Sausalito I noticed a beautiful building on Bridgeway in Sausalito. It was the first time I had noticed the newly renovated space. I was amazed to find it was now an art gallery displaying the exquisite art of Daniel Merriam. Mr. Merriam was in the gallery and was fascinating to talk to. This is the type of gallery that I would spend hours and hours mesmerizing a gifted and talented artist. Each and every art is just very strong and speaks to my heart, catch my mind and soul.
