The dance floor is big enough for a good sized group of people to get their boogie on and not bump into each other, plus it's big enough for a nice cumbia going round and round (a must at a quince). With venues like these, you always worry about the HVAC situation. Well, no worries here. Rocket Center was a nice, cool temperature despite the Texas heat raging outside and the large crowd of people inside. Rocket Center was a hidden gem of a venue and I would definitely return for another quince here.

First thing I am greeted with when I walk in, is a dark room with the TV on. I turn on the lights and find a huge insect crawling near the wall. Is that a cockroach?! Thankfully, just an enormous cricket. I dispatch of it and then dispose of it in the toilet. I turn off the TV and do my normal cursory inspection of the room and find an empty bottle of Big Red soda behind the mattress. I go for a walk outside - there are a couple of fast food restaurants. Some police activity a few blocks away and I see an SUV peel through the Golden Corral parking lot at 40+, so I decide to go back to the hotel. Back in my room, I find another cricket just strolling in the middle of it. I dispose of that one as well. Then I look at my towels, find one with a nice curly hair on it, and use that to block the underside of the doorway. Note to management - I did some cricket research. They're attracted by lights, so turning the TV off will help. Plus, I would assume that most guests want the TV off instead of running some random movie. It's also just a waste of electricity. Second, please install door sweeps under the doors. If 1+ inch crickets can get into the room, who knows what else is coming in and out. I think you could have a reasonable stay here, but for my particular room I will carry many unfond memories with me.

We arrived shorty before our scheduled time, and the distillery was just opening. Don (co-owner) welcomed me and told us to come on in. The space is very welcoming, and we immediately felt comfortable. We were fortunate enough that Don took care of us. He told us about the beginnings of the distillery, how he and his partner got started, and how they have continued to evolve. Their attention to details are unmatched. Their gin, bourbon, and vodka were all top-notch, and we were very impressed by the personalized tour. Don's passion and knowledge made the experience truly memorable. We learned so much about artisan products, and the efforts that go into making them. I strongly recommend this experience to others. Their spirits taste really good. We could've stayed longer, as comfortable as Don made us feel. We were able to sample most of their products and we had two amazing cocktails each. We purchased the Artisanal Gin, the Barrel Finished Gin, and the Blended Bourbon. My wife surprised me with a bottle of the Blended Bourbon, and Don presented it in a very nice gift bag. He actually dedicated the bottles to us and signed them. We're looking forward to bringing our friends for another visit soon. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and recommend a tour to any spirits enthusiast!
