I love my stylist and despite having really short hair and rarely get washed or styled (which is my choice), I felt I was paying too much. I got a haircut last week, they have my credit card on file. I usually tell them to go ahead and use it each time. I got home and realized I was charged $10 more than prior haircut. I called and was told my stylist raised her prices AFTER my card was charged. My first time visiting this Hair salon and would recommend it. I was in Danbury for a Wedding, searched for local places to get my hair done and came across The Secret Hair Studio. Fortunately, I was able to get a last minute appointment, which was great. I had the pleasure of having my hair done by Alexis, who recently started working there. I have thick somewhat unmanageable frizzy hair. I explained what I wanted done and she did a fabulous job. She washed, blew dry and slightly curled my hair. It came out looking fabulous. I booked this place because the reviews were good and the website showed beautiful up-dos. I can't image Adela has ever done an updo before. She pasted my hair down when I said I wanted it teased on the top. I asked for the style of the blonde picture shown and said I would be okay half up half down, when she told me she couldn't put it half up and for the life of my I can't figure out why since I can do it myself. $95 later and I just said it was fine so I could get out of her chair. I was so excited when I found this place because I thought it was going to be my new spot. It has a nice interior design and looks professional and clean. I did not want to write a negative review, but I'm completely disappointed with my service. Unfortunately, I will never come back here, or at least not with the stylist I chose. I emailed a picture of what I wanted and I showed her in person the day of my appointment and expressed I wanted some lighter pieces in the front like the picture. I wanted brown hair, she left my hair almost black. I should have spoke up right at the chair, but I don't like to be confrontational and thought to myself, let me just get a feel for my hair before I complaint about it. That night I messaged the stylist that my hair was just too dark, almost the color of my natural hair. She told me to wash it twice, I did, and it was still too dark. I washed it again, and it was still too dark. I messaged her again that my hair was still too dark and the lighter pieces were now orange. She said I stripped the front pieces and offered to glaze just the front but if I wanted the rest of the hair lighter, I would have to schedule a new paid for service. I'm not sure why I have to repay for highlights when that's what I was charged for on my initial appointment, but didn't get. I posted pictures of what my hair looked like before I went in, what I asked for, what I left with, and the color after washing. Alyssa is friendly, but I do not recommend her as a stylist as she did not do my hair even close to what I asked for and didn't offer to fix it without charging a new service. I understand that a stylist cannot replicate a picture identically, however I truly feel the final color I received looked nothing close to the reference picture. I ended up having to fix the front orange pieces on my own since there was no point of going back to the salon solely for the front to be fixed and not the rest. read more

This place is amazing! I was visiting from out of state to attend a family wedding and wanted my hair styled professionally for the big day. I took a chance on the secret hair studio and wow, am I glad I did! Jessica was absolutely Outstanding! I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted, but when I tried to describe it to Jessica, she said she thought she knew and boy did she ever! She completely understood the look I was going for and created a gorgeous hairstyle for me. If I am ever back in the area again, I would definitely return to this salon. God did she save me! She fixed everything and made time for me even when she was booked up. She is awesome and has a heart of gold! She knows color very well! After 3 1/2 hours of which I thought would look wonderful - my hair was a disaster. The owners were very receptive, but unfortunately the stylist (Jessica), obviously did not know what she was doing. After another 2 hour FIX - I had several different colors in my hair and resembled Halloween. I decided to use a setting mist that she gave me a sample of. Only to realize it was a post workout dry shampoo!!?? I went to another salon and they corrected as much as possible without totally destroying my hair. This entire ordeal has now cost over $500 and many hours of my time. read more

Friendly staff, well kept salon, hair stylists need to check their final product. Second time i got my roots touched up here and they are not fully covered... typically never have this problem at other salons. Also left the salon with dye all over my forehead, ears, and neck. The lightning in the salon is dim so maybe that's what the issue is? Had I noticed this while i was at the salon i definitely would have said something. They will take your temperature when you arrive and ask a few questions, you wash your hands when you get there, and everything is sanitized throughout your visit.
