I have the teacher's I love, Ms. Genzoli, who was awesome and Mr. Hoy who was constantly shocked when the one student who never did her homework or paid attention seemed to know the material the best when it came to test time. The mildly strange ones, Ms. Batz and Ms. Gautier who made me cook and lip sync in public, respectively. And the one's you hated so much they ruined the subject for you, that's right Ms Donahoe, I'm not a microbiologist because of you. They even had a YMCA that was here for awhile. Though why I participated I haven't the faintest. But it did seem to create some togetherness with us kids in a school where everyone basically hated each other and years later I still know a bit about what happened to a few of them. The best was when after speaking to a friend of mine I found out she knew one of them, Josh, who I hadn't spoken to in at least 6 years if not more. I told her the story of when the W.C.I. YMCA kids all went to Old Sac and bought fake "cigarettes." Josh and a couple others were kicked out of Carl's Jr for "smoking" and for the rest of the year I harassed him about it. Getting him on the phone more than 6 years later, the first thing she asked was, "So I hear you got kicked out of a Carl's Jr for smoking?!" To which he shockingly asked back, "Meg?" Ahh memories.

I heard Caucasian students use the N-word on multiple occasions, and there was repeated bathroom vandalism, including soap dispensers being torn off the walls and thrown into toilets. Bullying also carried over onto TikTok and Instagram. The teachers seemed to have very limited ability to control the situation, which contributed to a negative environment. Since moving to another city and school district, we have not seen any of the issues we experienced at WCI, and that difference has been very telling.

Looking back on the past three years, I can honestly say that this school exceeded our expectations in every way. From day one, the teachers and staff created an environment where my child felt accepted, understood, and valued. Their patience, compassion, and willingness to meet students where they are made an incredible difference. Rather than focusing on challenges, they recognized my child's strengths and worked tirelessly to build confidence while providing the support needed to succeed. What stood out most was the school's commitment to inclusivity. My child never felt singled out for needing accommodations or extra support. The teachers fostered a culture of kindness, respect, and understanding that allowed all students to feel like they belonged. Whenever anxiety became overwhelming, there was always someone willing to listen, encourage, and help navigate difficult moments. The growth we witnessed over these three years has been remarkable. Academically, my child developed stronger skills, greater independence, and a genuine belief in their ability to succeed. Socially, they formed meaningful friendships and became much more comfortable participating in class and school activities. Emotionally, they gained resilience, self-confidence, and coping skills that will benefit them far beyond middle school. We are deeply grateful to the teachers, counselors, and staff who invested so much time, care, and dedication into helping our child thrive. Their support helped transform middle school from something we feared into an experience that prepared our child for the future. I cannot recommend this school highly enough to families seeking a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment for their children.

The low student-to-teacher ratio provided a highly personalized experience, which was precisely what she needed to regain her confidence. The teachers are genuinely invested in the students and are able to focus on the students' specific needs in a way that is not possible at bigger schools. Additionally, students are still challenged academically while getting the utmost support to ensure their future success in high school. Ms. Cassie, the person who runs it, goes above and beyond to make sure every child has what they need and feels accepted.

Pretty sad & embarrassing. Then add to it, the ref was locked arm-in-arm with this school's coach, haha, and literally had an arm around the waist at one point!! Suddenly it makes sense why there were sooooo many TERRIBLE calls. You know it's bad when you hear parents on the opposite team commenting about the bad ref calls IN THEIR FAVOR! This poor ref was so "proud" of himself that he refused to provide his name to the score keeper's table to put on record as having reffed the game, lol. Literally refused!! As if they wouldn't find out eventually, I mean, he would like to get paid, right?!... ------------------------------------------------- For football... if you're the opposing team & you're winning, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE CLOCK!!! Whoever is in their scorekeeper's box/tower INTENTIONALLY starts the clock a few seconds after the snap in order to give their team more time to catch up, AND sometimes when the clock is supposed to keep running, they'll randomly stop the clock. It's insane! Then, when they're ahead, you watch the clock suddenly begin starting/stopping correctly. No joke! Also, same with other sports, be prepared for the refs to behave as if they're paid off... bogus calls & penalties for the opposition, while allowing dangerous hits (blindside, late hits, leading with helmets, undercover punching, aligator-twisting legs as they tackle, pass interference, & more) go "unnoticed." The refs fail to do their jobs so things get out of hand & injuries occur. Never fails at thos school's games. It's sad & disgusting.

I read a few comments complaining about the Biblical views, well, this is after all a Christian School that teaches Biblical truth and not a watered down version of it. Berean actually applies the Bible as God has commanded, so it is appropriate that the school is against certain behaviors and actions. As a parent I appreciate that and my son seems to find it a great place to be. This school is truly a gem for believing parents and teenagers in the Bay Area.

As a student of color, I often felt unwelcome and unsupported. Throughout my time at the school, I experienced repeated bullying and racist remarks from other students. Despite these incidents being brought to the attention of staff, little to nothing was done to address the situation appropriately. What made the experience even more upsetting was the clear favoritism shown by staff toward certain students. Discipline and school policies, especially the dress code, seemed to be enforced unfairly. I was dress coded numerous times for outfits that other students wore without consequence, which made the treatment feel inconsistent and discriminatory. The environment at the school became so toxic and emotionally draining that I eventually transferred to another high school because the bullying had become unbearable. Instead of feeling safe and supported in what should have been a positive Christian environment, I felt isolated, targeted, and silenced for most of my time there. In my opinion, the school did not reflect the values of Christianity, such as kindness, fairness, compassion, and inclusion. No student should feel forced to leave a school because of bullying, racism, or unequal treatment.

Expecting 4-year-olds to already be writing and recognizing letters feels academically misplaced for a Transitional Kindergarten level. What's worse is the inconsistency--it's clear the "rules" don't apply to everyone, as kids who can't yet write their names are accepted while the process remains a "black box" for everyone else. It feels more like a biased "who you know" system than a transparent evaluation of a child's readiness. We also noticed during our tour that the school's diversity is very low. In today's world, we want our children to learn in an environment that reflects the broader community, and we didn't see that here. Definitely something to consider if transparency and inclusion are priorities for your family.
