I would urge any potential customers to walk away from this store. I ordered my shades in 2023 for 5 different rooms. Now in 2026, shades in 4 of the 5 rooms have broken. I have called for repairs every 6 months. Cords are cheap and wear out easily. The repair will last about 4-5 months until it breaks again. The cellular shades in my kitchen no longer retract. These products are the absolute cheapest junk you can buy. It has been 3 years with these and almost none of them made it through a full year. I spent nearly $15K and will have to redo all of the rooms - except one. This is an unbelievable waste of time and money. Do not engage with this store. They never offered to replace my blinds. They keep sending out someone to redo the cords. I hate Shade Store. read more

This has been a very disappointing experience. The initial process went smoothly, but the execution has been extremely challenging and far below expectations. The wrong parts were ordered and shipped, so when the installers arrived, they were unable to complete the job because the measurements were incorrect. It has now been three weeks, and we still don't know when our new shades will be shipped because we were told that they had to be "approved." We paid a significant amount of money for these products, and the lack of customer service and follow-up is simply unacceptable. On top of that, we have been trying to get our roman shade repaired -- which was installed only three years ago -- and that has become a separate, equally frustrating issue. Two technicians have now come out; the one who visited today didn't even know what he was supposed to be assessing. The customer service around this matter has also been very poor. Very poor experience. Not nearly enough support to make selections, was told the measurement technician's pictures of our sunroom didn't work for their computer design system. Wasn't going to order $3K worth of blinds that I wasn't sure would look good but ordered a couple things for a bathroom and a bedroom. Bedroom shade is wrinkled, ugly and hung crooked. Bathroom shade was on long back order. It arrived last week and is ok but doesn't live up to its very fancy price. Went to a competitor for the sunroom shades. This review is very much overdo. I would give 10 stars if that were an option. After purchasing some drapes for my bedroom, I realized that because of the particular fabric, the drapes stretched virtually to the floor from a higher elevation at the time of installation. From the point of purchase, I had explained that I did not want the drapes to touch the floor or even get very close to touching the floor, because they would catch dog hair so the original install was 1.5 to 2.0 inches above the floor. Even though this stretching occurred after the warranty expired, instead of shirking from more work, The Shade Store went ahead and fixed the problem. I will buy all my shade needs from this store. The product line is extensive and attractive, but its attitude of going above and beyond is worth patronizing any day. read more

My experience with The Shade Store in Mosaic was wonderful from start to finish. I worked with Abigail (Abby), who provided great advice, was very helpful, friendly, and exemplary in every way. She followed up regularly and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied. I was initially nervous that someone else came out to measure, but going into the store to work with her was the right choice since we could see all of the options in one place and there were examples in the showroom. The measurements were perfect and she even provided us with 3D renderings when we were uncertain on some of our choices. Abby also scheduled a follow up meeting for me with their technical team when I had a poor WiFi connection, which they quickly resolved. We are very happy with our purchase and love that we can use the app, remote, or Alexa to set our primary bedroom shades to open and close on a schedule. The process was flawless from selection through install and the support during and after has been a testament to the company. Starting from ordering, measurement , manufacturing, and countless delays,all went wrong. I had to stay home more than six times for allowing them to correct their mistakes.Tow persons from shade store contacted me, John Rivera, and Collin Dunn. We ordered shades and drapes and rollers for the whole house this summer. The price was like a price for medium priced car. One drape came short. They wanted to "repair" it: to make it longer. After long discussions they agreed to make the new one. The Roman shades for Dining, Sitting rooms came all wrinkled, because they were not folded properly. They do not iron their merchandise, only steam. Steam can make Roman shades longer. So, I ironed them. Many Roman shades have tiny holes on them. The explanation: it is inevitable due to the process of manufacturing. They did not warned us beforehand about it, but gave a small discount afterwards. The drapes for a family room also came a bit short. They managed to place them at a lower level to make them look OK. The only thing they can make perfectly are Cellular shades. read more

My experience with Shade Store was frustrating. The other 3 reviews are similar to my own. I won't get into the details but there was a lot of hours spent on the phone with customer service. One qualm that I really want to emphasize is the installation process. After purchasing such expensive products, Shade Store does very little to assist with actual installation and the recommended installers are not very good. Shade Store only recommends 2 third-party installers for the entire DC metro area, so scheduling with them is a huge headache. I dealt with both installers and would not recommend them to anyone. One dropped a tool on my hardwood floor and left a huge mark. Shade Store needs to start taking more responsibility and oversee the installation process as well. The only bright side, I agree with the other reviewers that yes indeed the curtains themselves are nice. read more

I had a good experience with the Shade Store in Mosaic on two different occasions. I started with blackout drapes in the bedroom, and after that went so well, got roller shades in the dining room. The quality of both the drapes and roller shades are fantastic. I have large windows that needed a skilled professional to measure and install, and in both situations received just that. Like other reviewers, I found it odd that you can't schedule the installation until the product is delivered to your home. They are making the product and should know when it will be on our doorstep, so why not cut out that wait time? In both cases, the products sat in their boxes for more than a week before the installer could make it out. In the one customer service issue I encountered with the second purchase, I found the store personnel to be useless in solving the problem. Maybe since the sale had been done, they didn't care about our issue. And that's OK I suppose, as the customer support person on the phone handled it well (after I realized the store was not going to be of any help). Overall I wouldn't change a thing: I love the look, the quality, the professional installation. read more

My original review was the following with 1 star: Awful service. Claim of 100% customer satisfaction is bogus (say they will make it right. In reality all they say is 'too bad too sad, you're out of luck!) I can only talk about this particular store (Mosaic district) but it's been a terrible experience for me. Ordered over $8k of blinds plus $1,700 of installation from them and had I to do it over again I would never make the mistake. Their customer service is a zero (same number of stars I would give them if I could). The one bright spot is that their store is beautiful and product quality is decent - at par with any other store. I would not wish their service on anyone I care about! Today (Tuesday 4/26) I changed it to 4 stars. I think I have never done this ever, but I did for a couple of reasons: First, as I noted earlier The Shade Store has quality products, a beautiful store, selection and website. After I posted my review, someone responded and immediately a customer service rep worked on fixing our problem. Bad things happen because that is life, but how we respond is important and I am impressed with The Shade Store... Second, the response we got was from the highest levels of the company, which means they care and have pride in their work and company and are committed to their customers. In this day and age, they could have easily walked away, but they did not. My faith in the company has been restored. Sometimes how a company responds to adversity or customer complaints shows a lot of character and The Shade Store certainly did great. Why go to the Shade Store? 1. We recently used The Shade Store for blinds in our home in Vienna. All in all we are relatively satisfied with our experience with a few exceptions. (1) We struggled with communication between us and the sales rep at the store. Our emails were eventually answered but it took prompting. (2) The installers are fully booked and we could not get a measurement done for weeks which held back the process. (3) The eventual installation was fast but from order to install was more than a month. (4) The brackets for the blinds in one of the rooms are way to big and it looks really weird. For the price we were expecting a lill bit more of a "giddy up" service and shorter wait periods but overall we are satisfied with the product. read more

Everything starts off fine, with a visit to the Shade Store and a chance to talk with a professional about fabrics, hardware, style and design. We had also received a good number of swatches from the Shade Store online, and nice size swatches, that really allowed us to determine how the fabric will look in the bedroom. Then there was some initial miscommunication with the installer, as the Shade Store relies on contracted installers. After going through the process for two weeks to work out schedules and proper communication, I get the sense this is a problem created by the success of the Shade Store. They have so many customers and there is a limited number of quality installers. Minor delay in the end, and I am a hard grader, so one star off for this, although I would say half a star, if that was possible. In the end, our drapes are up and the quality is outstanding. The price point for quality drapes and shades is high, but the Shade Store is what I would call reasonable high-end price. Other shade and drape companies, who don't offer the same selection or quality, charge at least 50% more than the Shade Store. I had a pleasant experience working with Teresa and I am very happy with the final product. The shade store has a terrific selection of window coverings and I appreciated being able to view all of the different options in person. They really do carry a great selection of window coverings made of high quality fabrics. Teresa was especially helpful in that she was extremely knowledgeable about the different window coverings and also provided her opinion on which options would look best in our home. My only complaint (and a minor one) is regarding the wait time for measurement and installation and having to separately speak with and schedule with the installer. The shade store lets you schedule your installation once the window coverings ship. Since they guarantee the window coverings ship in 14 days I don't understand why you can't schedule your installation when you place the order. It's a pain to have to receive the shipping confirmation email and then have to next speak with the installer and try and schedule an appointment. Even though I was home every single day (I have a baby), it took a good 14 days between the window coverings arriving at my house and the installer coming to install them. I took the first available appointment for installation. The appointment itself only took 12 minutes max (really) so it seemed silly I had to wait a full two weeks for it to take place. That being said, it was definitely worth the wait and I'm very pleased. read more

The process could be quite overwhelming with all the beautiful choices available and I didn't know where to begin. Robin patiently listened to me about my dream project and guided me with all different choices as if she was reading my mind. She gave me samples to take home and think about it so I was 100% sure with my options. It made it so much easier with Robin's help. She also answered all my questions along the way from design to budget. All the ladies at the store are very welcoming and ready to help your vision becoming a reality. From picking materials and designs for each window, ordering to installation, Robin was there with me every step of the way. After installation, I wasn't fully satisfied with one window and she immediately requested for adjustment. Talk about someone who understands "customer satisfaction." I could not say enough about how great Robin is and the quality of Shade Store products.
