Incredibly easy to request an appointment online which I always appreciate. I am not super familiar with knife sharpening, but they did a wonderful job. I need two knives and a pair of scissors sharpened. The price was very reasonable for the service I received. I enjoyed a quick chat with the friendly employee, dropped off my knives and scissors, and came back about 30 minutes later to shiny, sharp knives and scissors. Such a professional establishment. Not long ago, my dream of owning high-quality, professional cutlery finally came true. If you own such cutlery, you know it is a pleasure to work with but it is also an expensive investment. The owner's manual suggested using a hone to maintain the sharp edge, which I do, but the cutlery should be professionally sharpened once a year with normal use. I use my hone regularly, but recently noticed I was cutting less and sawing more. Sidebar: the aforementioned cutlery replaced stainless steel cutlery. Stainless is easy to take care of but doesn't hold an edge anywhere near as well as high-quality steel. 'Nuf said. Recently, business took me to East Capitol Drive, so I carefully packaged my chef's knife and Santoku knife for the ride. The Sharp Brothers' storefront is colorfully decorated with a whimsical mural but imagine my surprise to arrive at the store mid-morning, only to find it closed. Closed??? Yup. Bankers wish they had these hours! The storefront is only open 2PM to 6 PM on weekdays because the Sharp Brothers also perform mobile services so they need to be out and about. But not to worry, they have a drop box where you can leave your job for their attention. A painted octopus provides security so your prized cutlery, scissors or lawn mower blades are safely left behind. Later in the day, I received a text message that my knives were ready for pickup! I returned the following afternoon to pick them up. The charge was reasonable and I couldn't wait to get home and try them out! What a pleasure to cut vegetables again instead of sawing them! I'm very pleased, beyond pleased, actually and I'll be taking my smaller knives there soon. A special note to you who think sharp knives are dangerous. Hogwash! You are more likely to injure yourself with dull cutlery, sawing and using excessive force to do simple kitchen jobs. You're safer with a surgically sharp knife that slices instead of saws. Take your best chef's knife to The Sharp Brothers and see what a pleasure it is to use again! read more

I have two kitchen knives of average quality that I use daily. I also have only ever used cheap handheld sharpeners on the blades. Since those seem to be more of a placebo giving me false hope that they're working, I knew it was time to trust a professional. So glad I did. Made an appointment online. Got there a couple of minutes early and they took care of me in 15 minutes. Sharpened the knives to infomercial-worthy sharpness. (I showed my wife how I could cut a tomato without any pressure on the knife. She didn't seem as impressed as she should have been.) They gave me some advice on maintenance and talked to me about brands worth considering. Threw away my cheap faux sharpeners when I got home. This will be the only place I'll go now. read more

I used to live in Whitefish Bay and there was never any question where to get my knives sharpened: the Sharp Brothers do an amazing job for what some would call reasonable rates but what I call the lowest price you can imagine. They do it politely and, though they say 24 hour turnaround, it's usually a matter of 3-4 hours. When I moved to MN I shopped around and even the free sharpening at the local grocery store didn't measure up. So now, on a trip to Whitefish Bay, I brought all my knives back and had them done here. Thank you! Thank you! The quality the work and the sharpness of my knives is outstanding. I try to get them sharpened yearly and the pandemic has made this problematic. However, they were at a local farmer's market and I gave them a try. I don't shop long these days, but they had 7 knives done and ready to go before I had managed to maneuver the one way traffic back to them, maybe 15 minutes.
