The driver/tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, at best, some of us saw the rear end of a bear running off the road into the bush. The rest of us saw nothing. There were some eagles at a distance and a buck far, far away. We stopped several times and spoke to other van drivers, and it seemed like sightings that day were very infrequent. While it's not anyone's responsibility (tour company or cruise line), it would be helpful to guest comfort if we were reminded to bring bug spray with us when leaving the ship. After we took the tram to the waiting area, everyone was eaten alive while waiting for their next mode of transportation.

Yes, there are t-shirts with Alaska logos in a wide variety of sizes, lots and lots of t-shirts, but there are also sweatshirts, hoodies, pajamas, baseball caps, winter caps, jewelry and accessories, key chains and refrigerator magnets, mugs, water bottles, and more. I was feeling tired to shop, but my husband picked up a hooded, long-sleeved Juneau shirt for $16.99 and a baseball cap for only $4.99 (not a typo!). Staff were friendly and efficient. Based on the number of red Alaska Shirt Company bags we saw on passerby's, it's clear that many others had also discovered Alaska Shirt Company! Note that there are two Alaska Shirt Company stores on South Franklin Street that sell similar merchandise. The other one is closer to the cruise terminal and does not have "Extended" in its name.

So in the interview they told the applicants that it would be a bonus around 1,500 dollars if you stayed the till the last day of the season. So the two people I know stuck it out till the end wanting to leave because of how horrible the management treated them. But suffered through because the bonus was promised. Then after the end of the season the group that got hired for the last 60 days didn't receive a bonus. One of them asked about it and was told that in the handbook or paperwork it says you have to be working like 170 days to be valid. Anyways they flat out lied to all of them in the intervew and led them all on. Made them do all the stocking work as the seasoned employees sat behind the counte. Shame on you T shitr company? Shame on you hiring management!
