The Homemade Vanilla Wafers and Ginger snaps are simply the Best and are the reason we stopped in! I believe they have been making sweets since 1923!! Located downtown, easy access and parking, you should go! The ladies are very helpful and even give out samples if you like. Holy Chocolate Creampuffs!!!! Man that was delicious. We've been here but it's been years. It hasn't changed. Great people, clean store and bathrooms, and WONDERFUL desserts. Yum!! I tried the chocolate cream puff and mom tried the sugar cookies. Both were great. I also took some red, white, and blue thumbprints and a coke cake. Not a bad business, just not great. There is no drive thru, making it less convenient than other places. They only have one filled donut option. The prices are higher than average. And the novelty of using a "famous" business wears off real quick. Counter help is always courteous, and sometimes helpful. I would use Slaton Bakery again when people from out of town visit, for the tourist appeal. read more

Such a nice little place and nice little town. The Slaton Bakery is right on the town square. We got sweets and sandwiches. The sandwiches were very nice and I got donuts for dessert. We sat outside as we had our pup with us when two people came up nicely and asked if our dog could have some treats... as we are keeping social distance, we declined and kinda thought... huh? Well, they went inside the bakery and they brought us a package of treats from inside... it was the owners! How incredibly nice!!! I feel a little bad as we were a tad stand off'ish. So, first thank you very much!!! That was really nice! We will probably stop there every time we drive from Austin to Colorado! This is one of the hardest post I've ever made because I love the Slaton Bakery... First, the service is always amazing when I visit and seems they always have a great selection. My only and first ever issue was that I ordered quite a few items one being half a dozen of chocolate donuts, unfortunately, we founds spots of mold on the bottom of the donuts. I did return them and they apologized and gave me different items, but I had to make this post just for everyone to check your items and not just this location but anywhere you may eat. On another note, I'm also disappointed that not all donuts aren't made fresh daily. I purchased my items around 11:45 AM Saturday morning. read more

I have been going to the bakery since I was a very young child when it was on Division Street. My grandmother would stand on the front porch, give me money, and watch me go across the street to get fried pies for the family. There have been a few changes since then but they have been positive ones. The thumbprints are still the best! The sand tarts, pecan sandies and fried pies are still addictive. The sandwiches are fabulous. The staff, as always are helpful and attentive. Use their vanilla wafers in banana pudding, and you will never go back to whatever you used to use. My new personal favorite is the ginger snaps! The little eating area and little bakery museum are fun to explore and it's always nice and clean. I was so lucky to happen upon this awesome old bakery in Slayton while I was passing through on a road trip. I bought homemade tortillas, a coke cake and some some donuts for breakfast. The breads looked amazing, but I had just bought square bread (yuck) at the grocery store and didn't want to be wasteful by throwing it out. Just stopped at the wonderful and fragrant Slaton Bakery. Smells like Christmas in here. Smells like my kitchen should instead of burnt popcorn and garlic bread. Lol! We treated ourselves to iced and powdered cookies, along with a coconut cream pie and banana pudding. These baked goodies are somehow able to influence my whole outlook and instantly raise my holiday spirit several points, to the positive, of course. The first bite bring out the kid in me. How glorious and magical these red and green goodies taste! Only the treats baked by my beautiful wife and children can compare. These are available on demand, though. Yum! This time we saw one could also order sandwiches, too. This may be my new lunch stop gong to or from the Lubbock area. More on that, later. read more

This bakery is pretty cool. It appears to also be the life of downtown Slaton. I guess it is well know in Lubbock and it was recommended by a friend living there that I stop through on my way to Post for the "Post Day" event every first Saturday. Has a good variety of cookies, pastries, cakes and pies as well as lots of other collectible gifts and things. Staff was friendly and service was good. I noticed a few flies buzzing around but 'tis the season if you know what I mean. read more

Staff and owners are rude. Dont take special health conditions into consideration where masks are concerned. Baked goods are mediocre at best, service is poor as orders requiring more than one item are generally not filled correctly, sandwiches are cafeteria quality nothing special, the coffee is awful. Really not worth all the hype it gets. At one point it may have been good. But over the generations its lost a lot. Really there are better places but try it for yourself if you wish. Coming from a retired executive chef and food critic. I wont go there again and I live right down the street. Id rather drive 22 miles for what i need. read more

I absolutely love the Slaton Bakery and drive well out of my way to get some sugary goodness. Regardless of your preference for baked goods, I'm willing to bet that they have something you will enjoy. The only draw back is that you have to have a $5 minimum to pay with card... which just means I get to buy more cookies! What are the best cookies you ask? Ojarascas probably win out, the cinnamon and sugar melts in your mouth and you just want to keep throwing them back. My other favorites are called 'Mexicans' and are basically a food colored crisp sugar cookie. I usually pick a few cookies I've never seen before to try out and have not yet been unhappy. I like this bakery OK. The food is good. However it is quite a bit out of my way from Lubbock, and you have to have a $10 minimum to charge. I bought cookies and fresh bread. The bread is very tasty, and the cookies were fairly good. I'm not sure I will drive out of my way to get any food here though... The odd thing about this place is that the parking is on a street, but the street is not marked with any signs that point out that it is ONE WAY. In addition, it is a street that looks just like a parking lot because it runs parallel to the larger street. So I drove up it the wrong way. Luckily I didn't run into any small town cops. read more
