The ganache filled edible clay pot with toffee crumbs, chocolate and ice cream magnificently presented and every bit as delicious as it looked. We live in the US but I know all future desserts will be graded against this one. Staff warn friendly and inviting. Hard to imagine a better pub experience anywhere.

If you are lucky (we weren't) you will be able to grab a table by the window and take in the beautiful scenery while you lunch. The menu offers a good selection of pub food including such favourites as bangers and mash, gammon eggs and chips, pies and burgers, as well as lighter bites such as soup and a selection of freshly baked baguettes. The have numerous fish dishes on the daily specials board. I was tempted by the crayfish and crab open sandwich with fries. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the portion size of the fish far outweighed that of the bread. It was super tasty and very filling. The bar has a good selection of lagers, ales and wine, plus all the usual spirits. I chose to wash my sarnie down with a lovely pint of Hooky, an Oxfordshire ale. It's definitely worth making the trip out to this pub but I would advise booking, especially if you are visiting in the summer. Also, request a table by the window if you can.

My favorite part was the bar and the employees. I felt very comfortable and at ease casually enjoying our food and drinks. I'm not sure if they still have it, but there was a pear cider, and a tequila beer called desperado. I really enjoyed those. I had a bowl of the winter vegetable soup with some nice bloomer bread, very warming and nourishing on a chilly November day. As usual B was spot on with her choice of Sussex rarebit with homemade tomato chutney, I had a taste and then tried a bit more. Tasty cheese, a good dash of Wostershire sauce and a big dollpop of very flavoursome mustard which, when combined with the chutney, is my idea of food heaven. I was all for staying and trying out a couple of main courses but B was having none of it and we jumped in a taxi and made our way to nearby Upwaltham for the wedding celebration.
