We were visiting Southampton and looking for a place to dine by the marina. We found Banana Wharf and decided to give it a try. It is a big place with indoor and outdoor seating. It was a lovely day, so we decided to dine outdoors. They had a large drink menu full of wines, cocktails, mocktails, and smoothies. Prices seemed very reasonable. My husband ordered a pint of Peroni and I ordered an Aperol Spritz. The drinks came out quickly and since we asked for water; our server also brought us an entire pitcher of lemon water at no charge. For our lunch my husband ordered the Blue Cheese and Truffle Burger, and I ordered the BFC chicken sandwich. They were priced at £17.50-18.50 and both came with a large side of fries. The BFC sandwich consisted of super crispy fried chicken and a hash brown patty that was topped with a delicious special sauce. It was a little messy; but so worth it! I ate the whole thing! My husband said his Blue Cheese Truffle Burger was perfect, and that the portobello mushroom was delicious! We did not have a reservation; but there was no problem getting a table at about 3:00 on a Saturday. They had plenty of servers working and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend a trip to Banana Wharf for a meal or even just drinks if you're visiting Southampton! read more

Excellent! Fast, friendly and great food! Nice environment and great value! We stayed at a neighboring hotel walking distance, we discovered the Banana Wharf restaurant. The Burger was moist and juicy and had amazing flavor(we are burger snobs from the US, so this is a huge compliment) . We also had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries which was my favorite. The food came out piping hot, which was wonderful. Light and bright, good music on the water with yachts to view! Indoor and outdoor seating was a nice option! Loved!!! Stayed at the Harbour Hotel and Spa next door for 4 nights and their menu seemed old, and service not spot on. Walked over to Banana Wharf and although they were beginning to fill up for supper, gladly seated us without a reservation. I think she was the manager? She also served us. She was lightning fast, thoughtful and kind and offering great recommendations. This was the Regatta weekend and Oracle sponsors and sailors/yachtsmen and boaters filling up tables and rooms all over, so for her to seat and serve two vacationing guys from California was so much appreciated! If you are looking for somewhere to have lunch in Southampton, Banana Wharf is an excellent find. It's right on the Marina front, with great views through the picture windows if it is too cold to sit out on the terrace. The food is a a great blend of old favourites and some more exciting dishes for the more adventurous. (Not that it is that adventurous, but I hope you know what I mean). The service was impeccable - friendly and efficient. Always a good mark - we got a big jug when we asked for tap water. Food came up hot and perfectly cooked, and it was the sort of place where you saw other dishes arriving and thought Hmm - I might try that next time. Prices were fair - £10 - £14 for a main course dish. All in all I walked out of there happy, I think most people would. read more

Nice resturant by the ocean in ocean village. Good for snacks as well as full meals. The first time i went here we had a full meal which was beautiful. It is reasonably priced but not cheap. In with the starters they do a mezze of dips and bread which is wonderful. They also do a lot of fresh fish which is superb. For my main i had salmon which at £16 was not cheap but it was one of the nicest bits of salmon i have ever had. Although expensive this is one of the most expensive things on the menu. Things like pizza are cheaper and the pizza is very big. There is also a seating area outside which is lovely in the summer. I have sat outside with friends with snacks and a glass of wine a few times and this is really nice and is it is close to the cinema it is ideal for a night out or a date! read more

Very nice restaurant with a great, relaxed atmosphere. Lovely location in Ocean Village with views of the Marina. I've been to this restaurant for a family celebration and the staff looked after us all really well and made sure it was a great night out. There is a good choice of drinks and the food is generally really nice, however, it doesn't seem to be particularly vegetarian friendly. Also, whereas the starters and mains were very good value for money (one of our party had the 'Mother of All Burgers' which was absolutely massive), the puddings were a bit of a let down. Overall, we had an excellent time and would definitely go back again. read more

Great bar and restaurant in Ocean Village which complements the Pitcher & Piano next door. Most of the unit is set out as a formal restaurant which serves a great selection of food that is of a high quality. Its the perfect location for a romantic meal as you can look out across the marina from the restaurant or sit outside if it's warm enough. Banana Wharf also serves a great breakfast, the buffet breakfast is particularly good although this is only served at the weekend. The best thing about this place is that it has it's own character and the staff are always friendly and helpful. read more

I have been out here once or twice, and always impressed by the quality of the venue. Professional, slick and comfortable. The food here is good, a full english breakfast with a twist, perhaps trying to hard to justify the £12 it costs, but considering the location, and all of the wealth that pours in as fast as the boats, it easy to see why. I'm not sure where the other reviewers have come from - they look legitimate, but I can't believe they were at the same restaurant that I visited yesterday! The setting and decor are admittedly very nice, very modern, clean and attractive. However, that's really one of the only positive things I can say about it. We were immediately slightly affronted to find that, even though there was plenty of room, we were inexplicably not allowed to sit outside despite the glorious weather. For my starter I ordered the baked camembert, which was completely liquid, and served with a tiny serving of bread, which was nowhere near enough to mop up all the melted cheese - the options therefore were to eat the melted cheese on its own (with a fork!) or leave it. I chose the latter. The main course I chose was a Wharf Salad. Seasonal leaves, pancetta, boiled egg, goat's cheese. The pancetta was completely overcooked, the boiled egg didn't work with the rest of the flavours, the goat's cheese completely overpowered everything else, and for no reason there was avocado included, which may have been OK, apart from the fact that it was completely over ripe. The entire salad was also completely under-seasoned and under-dressed. My dining companions had similar experiences. An awful starter of ribs, the portion was far too big and very poorly presented. A meat feast pizza containing almost no meat. Admittedly I heard no complaints about the burger, nor the mackerel starter. Price-wise I had no real issues - the dishes I chose seemed to be fairly priced for what they were (in terms of the ingredients), but the standard of food was laughably low. I won't be going back, and I will be recommending that my friends and workmates do the same. read more

I have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it always delivers lovely food reasonably priced! If you go for breakfast try the pancakes with fruit! Great place to sit and relax and let the world sail by! It is set on the marina front of Ocean Village and has a very laid back feel. If it's sunny then try and sit outside as it is a lovely suntrap. Nighttimes does get busy so do book in advance. The menu hasn't changed that I know of in a long time and is a little limited but has what you would expect the veggie choice is not that great but there is a nice Thai type noodle dish last time I went. Has a mixture of food cultures so no doubt something for everyone. Worth the visit for the boats. read more

This place is truly disorganised. I called to book a table, which was booked in for 8.30pm. I then had a call back to tell me only 9.15pm was possible, as the manager had to confirm all bookings. If the management is unable to effectively delegate a task as basic as table booking to their staff I have strong concerns over the resturants ability to deliver quality food and service. If customer service levels are so sub standard just for table booking, I dread to thing what 'treats' lie in store if you are brave enough to venture into the establishment. read more

I have had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant numerous times and believe it to be one of the nicest establishments in Southampton for a good quality, reasonably priced meal. The portions are incredibly generous and the beef fillet stir fry is very tasty! There are lots of tempting desserts on the menu, and even though I don't have a particularly sweet tooth, I look forward to them every time! The only reason that I haven't awarded this restaurant the fifth star is the lack of an added 'wow' factor and the fact that it can be rather loud in there. read more
