In my 20's I broke my 2 front teeth and got them bonded. In my 30's I needed braces due to earlier health issues. Fast forward to now at 51 finding Dr Zev Segal who truly is Magical!!! I have had my 2 front teeth bonded over and over for the past 4 years, every 6 months. I had finally had enough and researched the best Dentists in NJ. I came across The Art of Smile and put my faith in all of the positive reviews. The moment you walk in the door you are greeted with such a genuine greeting ( through masks of course). The women at the Front Desk are so professional and a pleasure to work with. Timing is impeccable with your appointment and then there is Dr. Segal along with Bonnie who are the Dynamic Duo! Dr. Segal went over all of the benefits of getting Veneers to correct all of my issues I had been going through. He even introduced me to his wife who had Veneers done over 20 years ago and looked fantastic. I was able to work out financing and within 2 weeks my teeth are Spectacular!! I went back for a cleaning & they talked me into spending $900 out of pocket for perio trays, which were going to heal my gums, and "push the gel up into the gums" I used the trays but never saw any improvement. Went back to a previous dentist that was in network & now closer to where I moved. They asked me when my last cleaning was, and I said March of 2024. They said that some of my build up was black, meaning it has been there for quite a while and there's no way the previous place did any level of quality cleaning. I told them about the perio trays, and they had never even heard of them and said that it was absolutely impossible for anything to be pushed up into the gums like Art of Smile convinced me the perio trays do. At this time, they referred me to a periodontist for an evaluation because of gum inflammation & bleeding and I had a deep scaling done & gums already feel & look better in TWO WEEKS with 90% less bleeding. Periodontist never heard of Perio trays either. In summary, The Art of Smile: - Didn't do a quality teeth cleaning - Wasted $900 dollars out of pocket for something that wasn't even capable of what they claimed - Never mentioned that they didn't take my insurance, so everything was taken out of my small out of network amount - Didn't inform me of the level of my gum issue - Didn't refer me to a periodontist or recommend a deep cleaning - Had to chase them for months for a receipt for FSA - which disabled my card for months, then couldn't even provide me with an itemized receipt (HOW?) - There was a small space between two of my teeth, AOS told me I should just replace both teeth to fill in the gap. That gap was caused by my gum inflammation and will close as my gums heal after the deep scaling. - When I complained to them, they didn't even apologize. Just told me they'd remove me from their list & have a good day. All of these things, allowed my condition to worsen. This practice is absolutely deplorable, and the fact that you can't hold any of these horrible places accountable is astonishing. I don't ever write reviews, but I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through and waste their time or money.

When you walk in the waiting area it is bright and spacious, which included an easel, small table for writing, tv, and stuffed animals. After filling out the paper, Dr. Lam made his presence known as he formally introduced himself to us and our toddler. He sat down and spoke with us about his special technique with young children . At least 15-20 minutes later, my toddler had warmed up to him. We then walked to exam room and of course she was hesitant, however, she cooperated with them. They were able to get an X ray and he was able to examine her teeth with some coaching/sweet talk. Did she cry? Yes! Did she clench her mouth closed? Yes! Did they get the job done? Yes! I noticed she did less kicking, shouting, and screaming compared to last dental visit elsewhere. When finished she sat in the exam chair and played with the stuffed animals. I believe Dr. Lam is gifted and he is worth every penny that the insurance doesn't want to cover! I'm pleased with the services provided at The Gallery of Smiles and of course we will return.
