No trip to Camden Maine is ever complete without a stop in The Smiling Cow. This gift shop has been here forever. My husband remembers coming here as a child with some money in his pocket meant for a summer vacation treat of one sort or another from this place. The store still delivers something for everyone from young children who can go crazy looking at stuffed animals and toys to adults looking for souvenirs for themselves or folks at home. There are magnets, t-shirts, coasters, cards, my always favorite balsam needle stuffed pillows (and yes I bought another one), candy, tote bags, hats, you name it, you can probably find it here. Prices are fairly reasonable depending on the item. It's definitely worth stopping in for a browse. It's quirky and fun.

Such a fun and eclectic store on the main strip in Camden. Lots of Maine themed souvenirs, cute clothes/tote bags, toys + books for kids but my favorite section is everything that smells good (balsam fir incense, goat milk soaps + lotions, hand + lip balms, etc.). They have a wide variety and it's priced well compared to nearby similar shops. The brick and mortar is seasonal but you can order from the catalog year round!

This is my favorite store in Camden. Perfect for Maine paraphernalia, gifts and stickers! Great friendly staff!

Complimentary coffee and tea out on the deck!

What helped me buy? * All products were MADE IN THE USA. Really. * The store was easy to shop. Items were placed where you could handle them; prices were clearly marked; and the selection was sufficient, without being overwhelming. * The prices were very reasonable. I googled the items before I bought, and Conklin's was equal to the best price on-line, and better than many retailers. * The owners were on-site; knew their products; and gave great, personal customer service. We travelled with a small puppy i was holding in my arms as courtesy when entering all the stores we visited and 99% of store owners were friendly and welcomed us inside. When we were about to enter this store a man gestured rudely with his hand shooing us due to the puppy i was holding in my arms. I respect rules set forward by business owners and understand if a dog is not allowed however it is unacceptable to treat potential buying customers in such a nasty way. Given my experience and the other negative reviews i can confirm this is not a pleasant place to shop.

The Acadia Corporation owns and runs eight different individual stores in the Bar Harbor area that collectively are referred to as "Acadia Shops." This specific review is for the two story "Acadia Shop" located at 85 Main Street. Because the Acadia Corporation is running many stores in Bar Harbor stuff really starts to look the same from store to store but the Acadia Shop stood out to me because upstairs they had some local art and quality LL Bean gear. I enjoyed looking at the prints and notecards from local artists. Also, on a cold and rainy day it was nice to peruse lots of warm and cozy jackets and zip-ups from LL Bean. Downstairs was more souvenir-y like t-shirts, magnets, signs, candy, etc.
