I will say the signage is really funny here and it's got a great location on the wharf. Plus the staff are really lovely. But the food was totally not any of these... We ordered quite a variety from the bbq platter, to the pulled pork tacos, and jerk chicken sandwiches. Everything in the bbq platter had the same flavor of seasoning, which turned out to be too spicy for any of my kids to enjoy as well. The jerk chicken also had the same flavor as the rest of the bbq platter. And the pulled pork tacos just nothing noteable or extraordinarily unique. read more

Smells amazing from outside and in. Great selection of food choices and sides. No Brisket but it was close to close so will have to go back. Portions were acceptable but not huge. Somewhat a dry BBQ, no sauce on the side which was disappointing. Food was prepared quickly and the staff was very friendly and polite. Enjoyable but not memorable. I was very disappointed in this BBQ restaurant, and calling it mediocre would be generous. I had heard it compared to top Texas BBQ, but it was nothing like the great BBQ I've had in Texas, the Southwest, or the South. The sauce tasted more like a Mexican salsa than any BBQ style I've ever tried and I do appreciate the variety of styles for sweet Memphis style or vinegar based sauces in the Carolinas. The ribs were gray, bland, and lacked any bark, seasoning, or smoke flavor. The brisket was even worse--mushy, flavorless pulled brisket served on a $29 combo plate, even though I specifically asked a few minutes before if the served sliced brisket. When I questioned it, I was told sliced brisket only comes if you order it separately and not on the combo plate with 2 meets. The menu on the wall showing (see picture)the combo never said pulled brisket but apparently a printed menu did. The potato salad had hard potatoes, the beans were just average, and overall the meal was so disappointing I couldn't finish it. This was a big letdown given its local reputation, and I would not return. read more

The food is definitely worth stopping for! Great brisket, ribs, burnt ends, cornbread, and you need to try the Mexican street corn.

Had great lunch date @TheSmokePit with two of my best girls missing Nat she had work . Jenna had really tasty pulled pork sandwich and Chipotle grilled corn . I had my weekly portio. of beef the smoked brisket with chipotle corn and Cheryl had there Mac cheese . Hard to eat it all great portion size and taste for the money . Came upon this establishment walking around Lunenburg. The smoke smells lured us in n. I had the brisket sandwich and my husband had the meaty Mac and cheese. Both were delicious but Hubby got brisket in the Mac and cheese that looked a little over cooked. read more

OMG how do I even begin to describe this place? It is like a tornado picked it up from South Carolina and dropped on the harbor in Lunenburg. I had the brisket tacos, Mexican street corn and the Mac n cheese and could have eaten it all twice. This is a trip to Flavorville with Mayor Mesquite and Councilman Cornbread - cancel your plans and run - don't walk to the Smoke Pit BBQ - no worries about seating as if it is full, you can walk on the pier and grab a couple of Muskoka Chairs then sit down and taste the best Burnt Ends you have ever had in your life while taking in a stunning Lunenburg sunset. Also the service - spectacular - the washroom is Ritz-Carlton clean and the patio is shaded. They also do catering - like this wasn't enough! Highly recommend! read more

Really tasty, high quality BBQ at this little spot! The Jerk Chicken Drumsticks are the best BBQ drumsticks I've ever had (and I've had BBQ drumsticks/wings from spots in Houston, Memphis, Louisville, and other BBQ hubs!) - so tender the meat comes right off the bone! We got the BBQ platter, which has a bit of everything. Highly recommend grabbing a Red Stripe with your BBQ and bringing your BBQ to eat out on Zwicker Dock on the Adirondack chairs. Fantastic service to boot - we arrived 2 minutes before close and were met with kindness and enthusiasm. Love this spot and hope to see it in Lunenburg for years to come! read more
