We had a private birthday party on a Saturday night at the Social Table that was incredible. Rachel was our chef / instructor. She was incredible and is also an extremely talented chef. Our menu was Tex/Mex everything was SO delicious. It was BYOB. Everyone got to contribute to the meal by chopping ingredients or actually helping to make the dishes, all while being able to drink and socialize making it feel like you are in your own home. The decor of the kitchen/ dining room is awesome. I would definitely recommend The Social Table to all my friends! What a great concept. A great experience. I am pretty comfortable with my kitchen skills, but my gf signed us up for the pizza class, and I figured even if I didn't learn anything it'd be good just because I enjoy cooking. Throw in pizza and BYOB and I was pretty optimistic it would be a good night. And I was right. Rachel was our instructor, and she was great. Personable, helpful, answered all our questions, got everyone involved. We all did our own prep work. Some stuff we all did the same, for other stuff there was a division of labor. It all culminated in each team of two making a couple pizzas and everyone sharing each others creations at one table. Rachel really did a great job, I can definitely see doing this again. read more

Amazing for private parties! The space itself is absolutely adorable. It feels like you are over at your friend's place cooking dinner, except your friend has a professional grade kitchen and a culinary degree. I love that you get to design your menu (there was a huge number of seasonal choices for the appetizer, entrée and dessert) , bring your own booze, and play your own playlist. Having not read any of their reviews, but only viewing their website I purchased some gift certificates for my parents for Christmas. Their website grabbed me. I was actually on my way, via the internet, to purchase cooking class gift certificates from another place and found The Social Table. I was able to call and get what I needed over the phone. This all happened today within 2-3 hours or my original call - the weekend before Christmas - hours before they have a full house of people for their normally scheduled events. This place was awesome. Brought a group of 15 clients and it was so fun. Everyone could engage at whatever level they were comfortable with. The two chefs, Mike & Dom, were super cool and fun guys. They were like ninjas quietly moving in the background keeping everything clean and on schedule. We ended up with a beautiful meal that we almost didn't believe we had actually prepared ourselves. What a wonderful place! My friend and I took a class with Becca last night and absolutely loved it! The house and kitchen equipment are beautiful, the food was delish and Becca was funny, entertaining and also taught us quite a bit about cooking and knife skills. My fiancé and I did the Winter Italian cooking class for a special occasion and we had a fantastic time! The class was a mixture of ages, couples, and groups of friends. It was great that we could bring our own wine, and no corking fee! Alyssa was our instructor and she was great. Everyone in the class had plenty of time to participate in different aspects of the meal, and plenty of time to socialize and drink wine too! At the end, we definitely came away with some basic food preparation skills and recipes, an ended the night with a wonderful (and filling) meal. This was one of the most fun nights I've had out in Chicago in a long time. We went for my friend's 30th birthday, and it was just a perfect evening. The team was SO friendly and fun, they prepared a DELICIOUS snack for us to munch on as we cooked, and I finally learned how to chop vegetables properly. On top of all of that, the food. was. killer. What an amazingly fun experience! I went with a group of coworkers after work last night and had no idea what to expect. The ambiance was homey, lovely, and modern yet rustic in feel. We were greeted by our chef for the night, Rachel. Rachel had such positive energy and really made us all feel comfortable. Throughout the duration of the evening, she made sure we were all engaged, learning, and contributing to the meal we were all creating together. The experience of the entire evening made for such a rewarding dining experience in the end. It was like a really fun, social, and enjoyable build up to a grand finale of a delicious meal with friends. This was hands down the most fun I've ever had cooking! Becca is not only an amazing chef, but an awesome teacher! She worked with a group of us who have a huge range of experience and I can easily say that everyone learned something new. We all took turns with hands on contributions and the food turned out incredible! This was so much fun for our group of friends, but I knew right away this would be an awesome place to bring my husband and my out of town guests when they come to visit. My wife and I recently visited the social table and we had an absolute blast. Bring your favorite beer and wine and roll up your sleeves. Rebecca leads the cooking class with a fun and casual atmosphere. We were taught some great cooking tips along the way as the entire group prepared the nights meal. The food tasted great, probably more from Rebecca's cooking skills than our own. The highlight of the night was when we all sat together at the large dinning room table to enjoy the meal we had just prepared. This place is adorable! It is wonderfully appointed with an great atmosphere for making new friends if you choose! We made some marvelous dishes and I must say it is a 'must do' no matter your culinary expertise. I consider myself a rather experienced cook (not chef) and I even walked away from this experience with new recipes and new techniques. Our host, chef, mentor was Ian and we loved loved loved him! He was patient and very entertaining as well! Our oldest son gave this to us a a gift for Christmas and it ranks amongst out top date nights ever! We had a nice evening. We paid for 10 people but only 8 were able to come. For $200 for the two who couldn't come I thought we would have leftovers to take home but the executive chef said there was nothing but salad to take home. I wouldn't recommend this establishment. read more

We had our holiday work event there last week and to sum it up, it was perfect! Eleanore was extremely helpful with the set-up and organization. Rebecca was the ultimate chef and teacher, very skilled and patient. The food was yummy, even though Rebecca was concerned we had multiple dishes with bread. It was all to good to even notice. Becca helped me plan and pull off a surprise birthday party for my husband this weekend, and it was a fantastic time! She and Chef Ian came up with a fantastic Italian inspired menu. We had 12 guests, and Chef Ian was amazing at making sure everyone was engaged in some part of the cooking process: chopping fresh tomatoes for soup, making pasta, braising rabbit, grilling radicchio, searing steak and baking a fabulous fruit studded cake. The ambiance of the dining room and kitchen is warm and friendly, reflecting the staff's enthusiasm for sharing their joy of cooking, eating great food and drinking great wines! wow! went for the Modern Thanksgiving class on 11/14 and enjoyed it thoroughly! The space is set up almost as if you're walking into a friend's home -- through the living room into the kitchen, where prep spaces are set up for 12 people. Appetizers are provided, and wine can either be purchased or you can bring your own. From there, Rebecca (the chef-owner) is wonderful at taking you through the prep of several absolutely delicious -- but still accessible -- dishes. Lots of great knife skills tips too, which I really appreciated learning. Rebecca is warm, funny, friendly and makes the whole experience outstanding. In keeping with the whole dinner party concept, after to cooking is done you get to sit around a dining table and have the (delicious, did i mention delicious?) meal as a group. The whole interactive nature of the process engages everyone together and by the time mealtime comes, everyone is friendly and chatting (even if you didn't know each other walking in!)
