Galleria Marchetti was the most amazing wedding venue! The outdoor garden created a magical ceremony backdrop and such a fun cocktail hour space. The Pavilion was beautiful for the reception, especially with the lights dimmed and the chandeliers on! We had 125 guest, but even though the space could hold more than double, it never felt empty and the layout worked great! We worked with Danielle who made the planning process so seamless and was easy to communicate with. I can't recommend more! read more

I've been here twice. Many years ago for my Dads retirement party and recently for a wedding. Both visits were fantastic. I can's say enough good things about the food and the service, just really good old school Italian cooking and service as well. After the wedding service was completed we were ushered into the bar area for drinks and appetizers as the staff removed the wedding setup and brought in the dining setup. The heavy appetizers were plentiful and really good as was the Italian deli meats. I loved it, and I would have been happy to just make myself a sub with those cold cuts and sit down with a cold beer and chow down. Got married in 2022 & been salty about this place since. 1. We had to argue to keep the original price in our 2019 contract because they were about to inflate the prices for 2022. How money hungry can you be when we had no other choice but to postpone our wedding due to a global pandemic? We settled an agreement with the owner that we would take the smaller venue instead & limit our guest count if we didn't want to spend more money. I had to bite the bullet & agree to the changes. 2. When we signed the contract in 2019 we had Natalie as our wedding coordinator. We loved her energy & she was so attentive during the process, sending me all I needed to know prior to the event, but she ended up quitting mid 2021. I can't say the same nice things about her replacement, Danielle. She gave us attitude over every question we had, didn't send me updated/helpful info, & didn't reply to my emails until days if not WEEKS later where I would have to follow up. This was incredibly stressful leading up to the wedding where I was the one that had to ask her for the floor plans so that I can finalize my decor & table numbers. Since she didn't get back to my emails for weeks, it kept adding more delays & she had the audacity to tell me I was late on finalizing things. I made myself open to phone calls too which she never took. 3. The cherry on top of the stressful final days before the wedding was dropping off decor. To save $ we rented out the decor, but Danielle failed to send me any updated info, so I only had what Natalie gave me which said I could drop off decor a WEEK BEFORE the event if I needed to. I asked a week before if I could drop it off just 2 days before the wedding since I was checking into the hotel the day before & didn't want to make 2 trips. She told me no- I couldn't even drop it off a day before the event! She mentioned it's supposed to come in & out on the same day. I sent her the sheets that said otherwise & only THEN she told me I had the "outdated" info sheet. This "outdated" info sheet also mentioned that staff would help us w/ placing decor, which I found that was no longer the case (most likely laid them off) so I had to hire a day-of coordinator last minute to help me with my decor. So I'm spending over $20k for a small venue, food, drinks and NO HELP? I practically had to beg her to let me drop off the decor the day before, & she finally allowed me to leave it in the cocktail room while they were doing tours. She failed to mention a time so I had to ask again & she replied the morning of telling me I have till 3pm, which added more stress since we live 30-40 minutes away & I was under the impression I had all day since she didn't specify a time! I also didn't have enough room in my SUV for all the wedding decor & luggage for the hotel room. So we only managed to get half of the things dropped off before 3 & the venue was completely empty, making me believe this shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. We also could have easily stored our decor in the bridal suite but Danielle said absolutely there was no storage on site. Since it was a Friday, traffic was bad & it took us an hour to get back to our house to get our luggage & the rest of the decor we couldn't fit in the first trip. By the end of it, we didn't arrive to the hotel until 8pm, which was exactly what I was worried about. I didn't eat since breakfast so I was hungry, stressed, crying, just wanting to relax the day before my wedding, & Galleria Marchetti made that impossible with their new rules they failed to mention to me. 4. During our tasting we had 2 friends w/ us (which they also noted Danielle had an attitude) & Danielle asked us again if we wanted the dance floor. I said no & even asked for her opinion which she said "the dancefloor can limit people on where to dance so I wouldn't add it." So me, my husband, & 2 friends agreed it wasn't necessary, which she wrote down. Come my wedding day- there's a dance floor. I brought this to her attention & she just said "well it was in the final contract I sent you" which was sent 2 days prior to the wedding. I overlooked it since after all the updated contract after contract due to the pandemic it clearly showed NO DANCEFLOOR on all the other contracts- So why now does she sneak it in?? My friends that were at the tasting even pointed it out during my wedding! I felt she was out to just stress me the entire time. 5. I tried saving a slice of our wedding cake by putting in on our table, but since we were all over the place, I found by the end of the night they just threw the rest of the cake out without asking!! $700 cake just gone. 6. They told me I had to take all the decor out by end of the night. I had to negotiate with them that I can arrive in the morning before any event starts; which they agreed. However, vendors aren't allowed to set up until 2pm anyway, so absolutely people should be able to get it the next day! Overall- highly wouldn't recommend. read more

The waitress was slow and for the most part ignored us, even though there was hardly anybody on the patio. I will never go back there. We just got married in the Pergola at Galleria Marchetti and I feel like it is such a hidden gem for an affordable Chicago wedding! Danielle was absolutely amazing throughout our entire planning process. Galleria and Danielle made planning so easy with in-house catering and recommended vendors, but I still feel like we got to personalize the day exactly how we envisioned it. They were so open with pricing throughout the entire thing so we could budget accordingly and add on the extras that we wanted! I seriously feel like Galleria was a perfect one stop shop for our wedding, I didn't need to research a ton of different vendors because it was all already built in. It made wedding planning so much less stressful and I loved having Danielle there for her support and opinions throughout the entire planning process. I've been to a lot of weddings. The most beautiful wedding I can remember was here, my best friend's son. The venue is absolutely perfect, the staff handled a non-Christian service (Jewish) with élan and knowledgeable respect. Don't take my word for it, if you're looking for the perfect spot for a wedding, reception, elegant party, medium to big celebration, visit and you'll be sure to put them on your short list. Maybe the top of your short list. The stage handled a medium sized live and active band easily. The sound system was high quality without being too loud. The passing trains were only slightly annoying and actually quite humorous for the outdoor part. They must have rehearsed the train sound interruptions, but for real Chicagoans (not you suburban posers), this just makes the venue the more authentic. Also it means it's easy to get here on public transportation and I've always liked dressing semi-formal on the train. The service is high end perfect, the food and drink are good. Although the pricing is fair considering how beautiful the place is, and how sophisticated the staff are, it's still oh-my-gosh expensive. If I had a daughter getting married, I would encourage her to have a vacation-destination wedding after encouraging her to get an MBA or law degree, but I'm a sociology professor at a public two year college. If you're a father of the bride and money is no object, or if you're setting up a corporate party, you should not hesitate to check this place out first before the downtown hotels. read more

Our wedding was the most wonderful day of my life - thanks to Galleria Marchetti. The staff was incredible, the service was awesome, and their food was phenomenal. We had multiple couples coming up to us during the wedding saying how beautiful the venue was and how awesome the food was! I might be biased - but it was the best wedding food I have had. It was well lit and the bar tenders made the drinks very well. They had an outside lit fire area, two rooms, and an outside lounge area. Over I recommend this location. I just got married here and it was truly a perfect experience from start to finish. Alyssa worked so well with our wedding planner and everything came together seamlessly. We were on the Pergola side which was absolutely beautiful, especially since we were able to leave the roof open for the whole night. We were nervous about how the Pergola would feel with 140 guests, but it was just the right amount of space for the venue to feel appropriately filled. Everyone was able to dance and/or hang out away from the crowd if they wanted to. Our 7-piece band fit perfectly as well. The draping, florals, and decorations were exactly how we envisioned and discussed with Alyssa. It's amazing how much the same space can transform with different table settings, flowers, curtains, etc.. Our guests kept commenting on how delicious the food was (including the vegan eggplant Parmesan option which was impressive!). The wait-staff and bar-staff were extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. The flaming donut bar as a late night snack option is a must. Overall, there is not a single thing I would have changed about our experience with Galleria Marchetti. It is agonizing to have to walk by everyday and smell the amazing food that the chefs are cooking here while watching people attend special events. I do get invited to events here but if the restaurant was still open I would be visiting here a lot more. I am sure that the special events are more profitable then being open as a full time restaurant. I would even compromise and take a Friday night dinner time (if no event is being held)! On a side note: If you have a special event coming up or are a bride looking for a unique space for your special day, then this is the place. Honestly the food that is served here for a banquet or event is just amazingly good. I have no ideas how the chef's are able to deliver because it is so hard to cook for 5 people and make everything perfect. These chefs are cooking for hundreds and they always deliver. After years of passing by GM (usually in a fit of rage, as either Halsted traffic had sent me into a tizzy or the ramshackle condition of the street had battered my poor vehicle), I'd never had the chance to really consider what was going on back. Truly, on the off-chance that the traffic light had caught me at the intersection, I wondered "What is that past the brick walls and foliage?" Well, I got my chance to find out... and I liked it. The galleria room is a pleasant introduction to the space. Warm without being ostentatious, there's plenty of room to walk around and experience the space and it's versatile enough to create whatever mood the host aspires to create. For those of you who enjoy these types of things, the bathrooms are very appealing. I know it's a deal-breaker for some. The real selling point of GM, though, is the brick-lined pavilion that can either introduce you to the night sky or be tented to give you the illusion of being outside. How they manage to create such calm in the middle of urban noise is beyond me but it's pretty impressive. Be careful of the flooring, as my guest and I both found it to slope a bit (no, we weren't drunk off our rockers... yet) and the brick/stones can be a bit treacherous for certain types of shoes. I just had my wedding reception at Galleria Marchetti a couple weeks ago and could not have been more thrilled. A year ago when I was on the hunt for the perfect venue I picked GM as soon as I saw it. I knew I wanted something different from the typical hotel ballroom or loft and was hoping to find something that was outdoors. This place was perfect for that. We had a smaller wedding (85 guests) so we held our reception on their smaller side - La Pergola. I can't even tell you how amazed I was when I walked into the pergola for the first time at the reception. It was so beautiful and totally exceeded all of my expectations. I think I cried. From the beginning, Natalie and the rest of the team at GM were so helpful, always answering all of my questions, giving me advice, and getting back to me within a day or two. They provided a lot of the materials (tables, chairs, linens, dishware, etc) and also gave me an example timeline which was a lifesaver when it came to putting the plan for the night together. Everyone loved the venue and so many people talked about how elegant, classy, and fun the evening was. The food was amazing! I didn't eat any of it on the actual night because I was so nervous and excited, however I received many compliments from the guests and I was amazed by the food at the tasting. I attended the Chicago Cocktail Social at this beautiful venue. There were chefs/mixologists there from some of my favorite restaurant all in this huge tent like place. Great location and what I enjoyed most of all about this place was the lighting. There were huge chandeliers throughout, but the natural lighting that came in was fantastic. Only draw back is there's a train right in view, so I wonder would it have been a distraction had the DJ not been there. Overall great place, great time, beautiful venue. read more

I got married at Galleria Marchetti just this past weekend and it was everything I could imagine and more. The team (especially Natalie - she is seriously so so awesome) are true professionals that were there for me every step of the way. I did not have a wedding coordinator to assist with my wedding planning, so I had the pleasure of dealing with them directly. Natalie was very responsive, detail oriented, and helpful from the very beginning. She also ended up being the person on site the day of my wedding and my cousins who were the ones who helped me set up also had great things to say about her. The venue itself is gorgeous as well. We got married in the beautiful East Garden area with our reception in the Pavillion. The high ceilings and the chandeliers looked gorgeous in just the photos our guests took, so I can't wait to see how the photos our professional photographers took turn out. They also accommodated some last minute changes so graciously. The locaiton is also only 10 minute car ride from the heart of downtown Chicago. Please do yourself a favor and book this venue for your wedding today! read more

I have never been here before I had to chaperone a college event this last weekend and man, I have really been missing out. On the drive over, I found out the husband has been to several poltical fundraisers here (must be nice not to invite your wife....but I digress). We had a the small back room and the patio and this was perfect for the 50-60 some attendees. The staff was amazing and catered to our last minute requests to have a ladder and some other things to decorate the room. The food was also really good and arrived hot - hard to do for a large group. The main entree was super large -two chicken breasts per plate - and the bread basket was just a step above the normal you would expect. One star off for outrageously-priced drinks ($8 for a dixie cup sized gin and tonic and $10 for a cranberry and vodka) but I guess they have to count on making some extra money somehow. Valet is $12 and convenient, but don't watch them pull up your car - a lot of close calls with the sudden u-turns they make in front of cabs! Luckily mine survived. read more

One would think, for $300 a plate, you shouldn't get ecoli poisoning, right? WRONG!! Why are there no honest and recent reviews of this place?? They petition/pay Yelp to remove them!! This dump continues to remove my review. I had my wedding here, my family, friends, and I all had interactions with the entire staff and it was AWFUL!! The removing of my HONEST review shows how desperate they are to maintain their 4 star status and avoid people from knowing the truth about this horrible place. I will continue to repost so people can see the truth. We all got food poisoning from their E. coli. I reported them to the board of health because it was that bad and dangerous!! After reporting, I took the time to look at their Board of Health rating and discovered it is rated a 1-HIGH RISK. I will NEVER be back here. Not only was the service HORRID, so was ALL of the food. People could not cut their meat to eat it because it was so DRY and TOUGH. If someone got up to use the restroom during dinner, the staff would clear their place. Took all the food and drinks away. My bridesmaid next to me said directly to our waiter: "no, please do not take that as I am still working on it" and the waiter IGNORED her and took all her food and drinks away! I am SO HAPPY that my husband and I chose Galleria Marchetti for our wedding! My husband and I used to walk by Galleria Marchetti before we were even engaged, and we always noticed the beautiful ivy wall, and wondered what the space was. It's located on a quiet street, and is extremely enchanting. When we got engaged and were searching for venues for our wedding, La Pergola at Galleria Marchetti was the obvious choice! Our wedding was on Labor Day weekend, and we wanted options for indoor and out. La Pergola has a retractable roof which is perfect for people wanting to do an outdoor wedding, but also not wanting to worry about weather emergencies. It was over 90 degrees on our wedding day, so we kept it closed with the AC on, but later in the night we were able to open it up once the sun went down! All the staff at Galleria Marchetti, especially Natalie, the event coordinator, were extremely inviting, and worried about ensuring that our day was perfect for us and our guests. My guests were all so enchanted by the venue, especially the ivy wall, where many of them took pictures. My guests also all commented that the food was some of the best (if not the best) food they'd had at a wedding. Natalie was very helpful with giving us the information of different vendors, and ensuring that we had thought through everything we needed. She was also helpful in giving her contact information to all of the different vendors we used so that we didn't need to hire a wedding planner or day-of coordinator. She was awesome! If you are looking for a venue for your wedding, or really any event, for between 100-160 guests, consider La Pergola. We had 121 guests, and felt the space was perfect, but they do allow for more. On 9/30/23 my daughter's wedding was held at Galleria Marchetti. The event was fabulous due to our hired coordinator, without her, I'm sure we wouldn't have had such a great experience. The venue, food, and added details made a magical, fun day and evening. Five stars would have been given but our assigned GM sales person/coordinator dampened the experience. Not sure what we said or did to have the GM coordinator treat us as she did. At times she was bordering rudeness and consistently had a negative attitude toward us. On the day of the wedding, the GM coordinator provided minimal assistance with preparation and I believe I saw her maybe 10 minutes throughout the entire evening . I am perplexed as this GM sales person/coordinator has had several positive reviews. Looking back we should have requested someone else. My suggestion for anyone planning a wedding, at the venue, make sure you connect well with their assigned coordinator. Overall, I would highly recommend GM with the right assigned sales person/coordinator. read more

Galleria Marchetti is a gorgeous venue, and their team is top notch. From beginning to end, they are professional, courteous, and talented. Their location is stunning, with the small exception of the L train occasionally running right past the courtyard where we held our ceremony (though this is to be expected in downtown Chicago). We loved the indoor-outdoor flow of the space (Pavilion/Courtyard). Their catering and bar teams are exceptional, and they have tons of delicious add-ons if you want some special treats for your guests - we chose to include a late night flaming doughnut station and taco station. The venue also allows you to stay later than most, so if you want a late night dance floor this is a perfect option. As a note, there is a very small, cozy bridal suite with some chairs and a vanity. It is likely not enough room to actually do the entire process of getting ready, and you typically don't have super early access to the venue to do that anyway. But it was a perfect private spot to get away for a dress change and some make-up/hair touch-ups throughout the night. Overall, would very highly recommend if it is in your budget! read more

We had our wedding here at the beginning of April... and my bride and I thought the venue, food, and everything on the day of wedding was great. Food was outstanding, service that day was great and the venue looked good. For that I would give them 5 stars... (only concern is the tented pavillion is close to highway ~ see heather parker's review!) For customer service, before the wedding, I would give them 1.5 stars overall though for not instilling confidence a month before the wedding! For the previous 6 months before the wedding, we were working with their director of business Tina (who we loved working with) and was one of the reasons we chose the venue. We had a great rapport with Tina and had alot of trust in her. About a month from the wedding, I got an email from someone I had never worked with at the Galleria Marchetti. I responded and copied Tina on my response and I received an autoresponse message saying Tina was no longer working there. When I called their new business director and asked what happened since we had seen Tina the week before at the food tasting, the answer I received was that she moved on, everything would be fine and that they had everything written down. What I found so unsettling is that they did not have the courtesy to let my wife and I know that our main contact had left and that we had to initiate the conversation and additional meetings to go over all the details again (there were a few details that did not happen to get written down). It caused us additional stress which we did not need a month out. I will say in the end, the wedding went off well. But where we were initially told that by Tina that she acts as your in-house coordinator, once she left, that was NOT the case. Again, it was just the added stress that I think could have been avoided had they communicated the change in personnel to us in a more professional and courteous manner... Overall we were happy with the day of the wedding.. not so happy with our interactions with the new staff the month leading up to it! read more

This past Thursday, we were at Galleria Marchetti hosting a party for my brother's high school graduation, and I wrote this review from my phone then. I recommend never using this venue for a private event. The tables look beautiful, but most of the decor was rented from a separate company. - The food is mediocre at best - The service is lousy and most of the staff doesn't speak English - We're out in the courtyard and the sun is down, but the venue didn't bother providing any outdoor lighting or mention that there isn't any outdoor lighting. - Most importantly, the catering staff did not manage to serve dessert until a significant number of guests had already left. - The music turned off in the middle of the party for no apparent reason. When asked to restart the music, guests were greeted with a loud and prolonged blast of static. Basically, the party and crowd are fun and I know my review is perhaps a little harsh, but I would refrain from hosting a private event here again. Loves it:) I was here last night for the PAWS Chicago Animal Magnetism event, which was a blast! Walking in, I entered a rustic and elegant room, the room just before entering the indoor Pavilion. I loved the ambiance, it really set the vibe for the whole evening. As I walked on the red carpet into the Pavilion, I was intrigued by this enormous white room. The candlelit lighting made it even more beautiful. I loved the stage and dance floor. I've been here for a few Akira fashion things and most recently for my sister's wedding. DAMN this place is AMAZING and they did a beautiful job for her wedding!! I wasn't involved in the planning process or anything but as MOH I was really glad that there was a separate room made available for the wedding party before the ceremony, and that Marchetti was able to transform what was originally an outdoor wedding into a really beautiful tented ceremony, with a dance floor. It poured down rain on their wedding day, but you seriously could not tell that it was raining during the ceremony or anything at all. The lighting in the tent was perfect and they event decorated them to match the branch centerpieces- such a nice touch! We were not overheated at all. The appetizers were phenomenal- had a seared tuna on a sesame cracker with a drizzle of wasabi mayo that I am still dreaming about, prosciutto-wrapped melon, and some bruschettas that were good for bruschetta. The drinks at the cocktail reception were a bit strong for my tastes, but hey, I don't really have any complaints. Food was just so yummy and I'm really glad my sister and BIL picked out the beet salad and chicken vesuvio- this food is on par with a good restaurant. For dessert, guests had a chocolate raspberry torte that was delicious, although my best friend thought it was gross, because she is silly and doesn't like dark chocolate. Overall this was an impeccable venue and the service was just wonderful. If I have an event and enough of a budget, I will definitely have a classy party here! read more

An urban sanctuary. If I had to market this place, that's how I'd tag it. It's literally about 2 blocks from a feeder ramp on to 190-94, but you'd never guess it. It's like you are plunked into a garden scene, right in the middle of the city. Flowing flowers, lush green grass, clean brick floors, beautiful white tables, huge white tent. The breeze drifting in...if not for the faint smell of bus exhaust, you might think you'd been teleported to the burbs. :) Was here for a "luncheon." Food was decent, ambience was stellar. Our daughter and son-in-law were married here and had their wedding reception here in September. We worked with Galleria Marchetti for the year preceeding the day of the wedding to plan everything. On the day of the wedding, it rained. It was perfect that we had selected Galleria Marchetti as the venue. They had a "Plan B" for rainy days that immediately went into action so we had NOTHING to worry about. Plan B moved the ceremony into the tent, the cocktail hour into an inside location, and followed with dinner in the tent. Everything went without a hitch! The tasting allowed the bride and groom to bring two additional people and my husband and I were invited. It was nice to have multiple opinions about the menu options. We settled on Proscuitto and Melon served on a bamboo skewer, Seared Ahi Tuna on a wonton crisp with wasabi cream, and Pesto and Artichoke Bruschetta topped with basil leaf as appetizers. The salad we selected was the Endive with Golden Beets. The main course was the Chicken Alla Vesuvio - sautéed chicken breast with olive oil, white wine, red pepper flakes, and garlic. The sides were sauteed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. Rather than going to a separate vendor to purchase a wedding cake, the bride and groom selected Galleria Marchetti's chocolatte mousse cake garnished with fresh raspberries, as an add-on to the package that they selected. The food was delicious. Many of the guests told me during and after the reception how much they enjoyed the food. The bride and groom chose to add on the wooden dance floor to their package. It was a good choice, because the guests kept the dance floor busy. The service during the entire ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing was wonderful. The Galleria Marchetti staff were wonderful to work with. Emily and Corey helped with the planning and Chiva was in charge of the service the day of the wedding. I highly recommend Galleria Marchetti to anyone planning a major event in the Chicago area. It is in an ideal central location close to the major arteries, and the CTA. Cabs are easy to get and they provide valet parking. I also recommend working with Corey and Chiva and the other Galleria staff closely. They are extremely accomodating and flexible and try very hard to help you make your dreams come true! read more

It's a very picturesque place. I was here for the Akira/Miss Red/Infiniti/ YME sponsored Fashion show held as a charity event to raise money for breast cancer. There was a striking white tent outdoors, and there was a cute walkway to the tent. It's what I imagine it would look like in LA or Hollywood walking in with the exception of no red carpet. It would have been nice if there were more fans and if they were higher up. If they had a walkway/raised platform for the models to walk on, it would have been nicer for all of us to see. The hors d'oeuvres and drinks looked good, but it was the that heat made it too uncomfortable to move and eat there. I'd like to go back and try the meals there. read more

I attended an event at Galleria Marchetti last week, and it was a cool setting on a warm summer evening. During the reception we enjoyed not only the indoor spaces for art displays, but also the covered tent space for dining and entertainment, as well as the outdoor spaces for games, drinks, and informational displays. It is hard to believe that the expressway and the Metra tracks are close by, and the Metra trains slipping by slowly actually provide a bit of urban ambience to the setting. read more

I was in a fashion show here for Akira, and I really loved this place. I thought that the grounds were beautiful and weel kept, and the building was gorgeous. The food was amazing, and the place was very spacious. I'd recommend this for an upscale private party or wedding. read more

We got married at the Galleria this past December and had a dream-come-true winter wedding reception. We are so pleased with our decision to have it there. Because they didn't have any other events they allowed us to use both of the rooms inside (the ristorante and the galleria), allowing us to have a cocktail reception first and then move the party to the dinner and dancing room. The setting and center pieces were perfectly how we asked for them to be arranged. The service was PERFECT! Quick and formal. Their 'head of house' for service Chivas did an amazing job at making sure everything and everyone was taken care of. The food was delicious!!!! The steak was cooked perfectly how we asked (I even had 2 'vegetarians' eat it and they loved it), the chicken vesuvio was delish, the potatoes and veggies perfectly crisp and flavorful. Our glasses were always full with the flowing wine. Guests really raved about the food, and we had some picky ones. Overall the place looked beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the food delicious. I would get married there all over again in a heart beat. read more

I had looked at Galleria Marchetti as a possible wedding venue, and after coming here recently for an event, I'm so glad I trusted my gut and ruled it out. The food and service here were pretty darn awful. Like, shockingly awful. When it's a nearly $300 per person event, you would think that their servers and food staff would have been more professional. But no, they were confused, sporadic, and borderline rude. Tables were unsystematically skipped over for items brought out on trays (desserts, bread, etc), and for the main course, they seemed to almost not even know the dishes they were bringing out. Their lack of flexibility was also astounding -- I'm allergic to fish, so I asked if I could just have a plate without the fish on it (to avoid anaphylactic shock from the fish touching things). The man looked at me like I was an idiot and said "we only have plates that look like this." We went back-and-forth for about 5 minutes, me thinking maybe he just didn't understand, and I gave up. Then, part-way through dinner, they came around with table service for wine and completely skipped me... Someone I was seated with called the man out and he came over and said, "Are you even 21? You look veryyyy young." REALLY. Someone else had offered me champagne earlier, but even so, he could have just asked to see my ID! No need to comment on my appearance (and I'm 25, for the record). But perhaps the worst of all was the staff's decision to clear plates right when the main speaker took the stage. You could hardly hear him because of the clanging and crashing of dishes in the back corner, and everyone was staring back there in disbelief. For the few moments when the clanging stopped, a metra train whizzed by outside with deafening blows of the horn. We left shortly thereafter. The event is annual and one we've attended for many years, and when we left, the person I'd come with said, "that's the worst the food has ever been." And it was. The food was overcooked and bland; the pasta was shreds. The staff at Galleria Marchetti literally got nothing right, and I cannot for the life of me imagine hosting something as important as a wedding here. read more

I attended a fundraiser for Mayor Daley at Galleria Marchetti. As a frequent fundraiser attendee, I have to say GM did a fantastic job. There were about 1000 people in attendance and the food was fantastic even though it was buffet style. I remember saying over and over that I was shocked at how good the food was. And although we were in a tent in the back, it had the perfect temperature compared to the negative degrees outside. And for the smokers, there were heat lamps set up outside. How nice! I would be cautious about having a wedding there as the ground is basically large stones. But maybe they have a floor to put down for dancing or something. read more

Galleria Marchetti was a wonderful surprise for me as I was a last minute replacement for a sponsored event, the 4th Annual Vive La Hispanidad. They did a great job as they used the layout of the place perfectly. One room was for checking in, another for cocktails and art gallery, the main tented area was spacious enough for the main event and they even had a nice garden setup outside too. The location may not be ideal but they place is pretty nice inside. It definitely has a suburb type of feel but in the middle of the city like some other reviews have said. I can't comment on the food only because the event I went to was catered by several restaurants. Cafe 28, Las Tablas and La Pena to name a few provided some good food as I expected. I would easily recommend anyone looking to book a nice place to hold an event or reception to look into Galleria Marchetti. It is a nice gem in the heart of the city. read more

My wife and I celebrated our wedding ceremony at GM on 4/01/17, and aside from the cooler Spring day and night, this was such a memorable day - all aided by the staff and surroundings at GM! Starting with the Events Coordinator, Natalie, she was amazing and very easy to communicate with. She was always quick to respond to all our questions and concerns throughout the planning process and made use feel at ease when the big day came. They were flexible with us when we had a last second request for Irish Dancers to come perform a surprise dance, as well as, allow us to finish our clean-up the next morning. Their coordination, professionalism, and attention to detail are all qualities that exemplify a great catering and private events establishment. We cannot say enough positive things about the entire staff for making our wedding even more memorable! read more

Alright I've been slacking on my reviews and I had to write a review after I read the last one ! Where were these people sitting? Seriously. Were we in the same restaurant on Thanksgiving? I went here with my parents for Thanksgiving Dinner as well. We had an amazing experience! I'm not a big fan of meat and ordered the Pumpkin Ravioli as well. I LOVED it. Best ravioli I've ever had. And the soup and salad were delicious. My parents both had the Turkey. I want to say with chestnut dressing? Sorry it's been a little while. They loved it so much that they tried to recreate the meal for Christmas dinner at home. They STILL talk about that meal. Galleria Marchetti is such a cute place. It was nice to spend the holiday in such an intimate environment instead of a generic restaurant. I believe this is one of the few days of the year that they are open to the public. And a tip...I emailed in advance for the menu and reservation info and they even sent me a coupon for a percentage off our dinner! I'm sorry to say that it was pretty empty in there. I would have loved to have seen the place packed. The service was great. They even called us a cab after our meal (do you know how hard it is on Thanksgiving, especially over there.?). Yes, there were several waiters around and each one did a great job refilling our glasses and clearing our plates throughout the meal. I'm so fond of the place that I would seriously consider holding an event here in the future. Definitely recommended for Thanksgiving next year ! read more

Went there for a CHICAGO 2016 event. I knew this was going to be a nice event. The city/Olympics never does anything half-*ssed. Upon arrival I saw the beautiful gazebo and thought that if, God-help-me, I ever get married, this would be the perfect serene setting for it. The tented area was decorated well, the food was great (for buffet style), and the washrooms were clean, but cramped. The real standout of the evening, though, was the staff. They all blew me away. Each of of them was kind, caring, and took the time to make the difference. I wish I had co-workers like this in my life. Ones that REALLY care! Once I heard the train rumble by, I realized this is maybe not the perfect setting for my fairytale fictional wedding, but I had a spectacular time nonetheless. I attended a benefit gala here in April 2015 and did not expect to eat in a tent. I was not pleased as I was seated on the outside wall of the tent so it was pretty chilly, then when they turned the heat on, the fans were blowing heavily and it got too hot. I think it is a better venue during the summer months, but I don't appreciate the "L" tracks and train noise during the dinner and speeches. The food and service was impeccable, however! I had the Eggplant Parmesan and loved it. It was lightly breaded and not overly so with just the right amount of marinara sauce. The vegetables and potatoes served were seasoned well. Coffee service was timely, but I didn't enjoy the dessert table, but I'm not sure if the desserts were part of the package or not. read more
