Visited the shop during the 2026 Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion. They have all of your typical candy shop items. They had many handmade candies, various flavored chocolate truffles and fudge and they also had ice cream. Prices were extraordinarily cheap. I had a piece of chocolate peanut butter fudge, which was amazing. The staff was super friendly. There is a little seating inside as well as outside. So this is one of the best places for ice cream in the Tri Cities. Their Tennessee Whiskey ice cream is amazing: kind of a butter toffee flavor to it. We will, so often, go for the best burger in the Tri Cities (the Burger Bar), go for a walk, and then hit The Southern Churn. Let me assure you, this is a winning combination! Service is always good here. They sell ice cream and fudge plus an array of candies. I have no knocks on the service or the ambiance. I'm a strong believer that ice cream parlors should be open late and I am so happy that the southern churn closes late because I was craving for some good ice cream. We went to Southern Churn before dinner and just grabbed some chocolates. Just an FYI they don't make their chocolates but I believe it's also made locally, I just forgot the company name. They have a lot of cool knick knacks in this store. They also have a jelly beans wall where you can get a bunch of jelly beans. The way the parlor was laid out was very cozy and relaxing. It's a nice hang-out spot. We then returned after dinner, I ended up ordering a banana split. I was so happy because they made the banana split and I was able to take photos of it before they had to put a lid on it since I was taking it home. We had the banana split at home and boy did we finish that. It was by far one of the best banana splits I've had. Their ingredients were very tasty and I like that they put all the ingredients of a banana split except peanuts. All in all, this is a great ice cream spot. Highly recommend. read more

Great staff, nice service. Very cute place with an old time candy shoppe ambiance. They make their fudge in-house. Tried several. All good. My favorite is the turtle fudge. They also have an excellent selection of chocolate truffles. Those are imported from a small batch chocolatier in the northwest US. From my perspective those were the main attractions. However, they also have ice cream and a fairly broad selection of traditional candies. Have already been back for more! read more

If you're visiting Bristol this is the perfect little detour while walking around the historic downtown! There are so many treat options here. You can get scooped ice cream, soft serve, fudge, and browse through an assortment of candies. I opted for the ice cream. It was a super reasonable price and the scoops were definitely generous. I recommend the Michigan Pot Hole! It's not my favorite ice cream, but it did hit the spot after a good day of exploring The inside area is super quaint. There's even 2 sections of old time soda shop seating you can sit at. A few of the seats face the street, so it's the perfect spot for some people watching. The ice cream was good, but about the same quality as the blue bell brand in stores, except you can get two gigantic tubs front the store for the same price as empty 3 waffle comes with one small scoop sitting on the top. My family and I came into The Southern Churn to get ice cream. The two staff members working were very helpful and friendly. The ice cream is really good although we felt it is overpriced for the serving size. We also purchased fudge which is good quality and was priced on a sign but later found out it is priced by weight, which we didn't know at first, so it ended up costing more then what the sign advertised. What we were most unhappy about was that the staff charged us a card fee to pay with a card. We were not informed of this at all at time of payment and saw it on the receipt and had to ask about it. If I would have known this, I would not have paid with a card and I feel like it's unacceptable to be charged this fee without being notified first. Our purchase was for a large amount and a store like this with premium prices, in the US should not be charging a card fee at all in the first place. read more
