This is regarding the hair salon. The spa makes a a big deal about punctuality, and has a 24 hours cancellation/change policy, but does not hold itself to the same standard. When we showed up 15 mins before the appointment, we were informed that the stylist was running late and asked to wait for 3.5(!) hours Given how that didn't seem like a reasonable ask(it's sort of strange that they thought it would be), we asked to reschedule, and were given a next slot 5 days later. This doesn't seem appropriate or respectful behavior, particularly in the face of the 24hr cancellation policy the spa holds their customers to. read more

I booked my appointment online per request of voicemail. I booked with Cecilia based on other reviews for Signature massage. Heather met me in the waiting room. For the record she was wonderful and a very positive experience. But had I been expecting someone else I would have been highly disappointed. So note that the online booking service doesn't always honor therapist only the time/ service. Heathers massage was what I would call detailed. Although only 50 min, she covered almost my whole body and paid attention, down to my jawline and top of my head. I would 100% go back for her and do everything I could to ensure she was my therapist. I did have a chance to sit in the steam room prior to massage and it was very relaxing. Big disappointment: I was planning on using the boutique pool area as a benefit of spending $75 or more dollars. Evidently a reservation is required. So when I checked in the woman at the spa counter made no mention of that. I assumed when I was finished, I could go at my leisure. I was told to check In with spa counter but no reservation required or further compliance. Had I known that I would have made it for 3pm after my massage was over as it was at 2:50pm. So needless to say I traipsed accross the resort property to the Olympic pool near the tennis center. It was a beautiful walk and am happy I was able to experience that but again wish I would have had the info I needed to maximize my experience. All in all, I see the tiny missed details. I'm very disappointed with the Spa at Sun valley this week. We have been coming to the spa with our friends for several years now and given the spa all of our business. I scheduled our 4 appointments over a week ago and were very much looking forward to our time at the Spa. I have called to confirm the use of the pool and gym several times and I was told we would not need to schedule our gym or pool time and that we would have access. Well I just called to confirm our appointments for tomorrow for the THIRD time and was NOW told we don't get to use the spa pool or gym due to the Allen & Co convention. That was what I was afraid of and I was lied to about this all this time. I don't appreciate the unprofessional business practice. The use of the amenities is a very big reason why we come to this spa. We can get the same level of massage from local massage therapists at a much more reasonable price. Please don't think that offering to let us use the Olympic pool is in any way comparable to the Spa gym and pool.... and for the same price I might add. When Sun Valley company continues to value the Billionaires over your local customers, it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth about giving you my future business. read more

The place is beautiful and serene and I expected a GREAT massage. The waiting area and locker room are also nice. However, the massage was unspeakably worse than ones at the Massage Envy. The masseuse rubbed the skin for an hour in a beautiful room and called it a massage. I basically paid $300 for the building, not the best experience. Very disappointed. read more

Most of the time I come here the stylist are always changing and or call in sick . And they don't contact you to tell you this . It takes a simple text or phone call . So disappointing . Don't let the pretentious exterior fool you . The vibe here is not just my off but it's uncomfortable. A lot of tension in the air . I don't know if management is working these employees nonstop or double booking them but it is very rushed and not a totally pleasant experience for the price you are expected to pay . . Some of The customer service was incredibly friendly but at the end at checkout is trash . The lady / kid whatever was going on There was clearly very grumpy and angry and extremely rude that she had to be there . I would never go back because it's insanely overpriced for only a 50 min. Massage service and I couldn't help but notice when I looked out the window down to the overcrowded pool that there was a bunch of brown stuff floating in the corner . TF ? Wow! What a stellar spa team capable of delivering such a seamless & caring experience! I was absolutely pampered by Kelly B. today with a divine pedicure and quick polish change. Thanks to her wonderful and endearing personality and quick, efficient service, I came in positively exhausted and left absolutely revitalized. Their coconut-infused water is literal crack- I couldn't believe it! Even got some patterned rubber flip flops to keep, and a lavender-scented warming neck pillow with an intensive massage post-pedicure. Called a day ahead to book an appointment for a gel manicure. They said they had a 3 o'clock appointment, then retracted saying the nail tech that was available can't do gel nails. Seems like that should be a standard skill for a nail tech to know how to do. Next time I'm in Sun Valley I won't be trying to book at this spa! read more

We were guests at the resort for spring break and I had no problem getting an appointment for a facial and 80 minute massage the same day. The facility is nice, very calm and has beautiful and relaxing views. I wish the relaxation rooms were more comfortable. Both of my techs were very friendly and professional. I think Melissa did my organic facial. The locker room was warm and the equipment was in working order. I love the "experience shower" it is perfect after a 20 minute steam or sauna. My friend scheduled hair appointments for all of us at the salon at the Lodge, and there were two primary hair stylists that the wedding party worked with...and those stylists had two main ways of doing hair (I guess if it works, you stick with it). Allison (who was my stylist) gave all of her clients in the bridal party curly up do's while the other woman gave all of her clients in the bridal party French twists. I don't think the girls with the French twists were particularly pleased because they didn't feel like their hair was done in a particularly special way. I was quite pleased with my hair especially since I gave her no direction besides curly, sleek/away from my face and not touching my neck. My hair was essentially styled in kind of a bun with lots of curls - many of the curls were pinned in so the ends were not visible but with some loose curls; I asked for the loose curls because the invisible ends kind of made it look like I had fake hair pinned to my head. Allison was very receptive to my feedback and did a good job adjusting my hair based on my needs. I was surprised that she used all bobby pins - no hair pins, no rubber bands - but my hair stayed up all night and then some. Even when I unpinned my hair later that night, it was still practically staying up on its own. If you are going for an up do, I would probably go in with a better idea of what you want - I was pretty indifferent but I can see how it's a frustrating experience for any stylist to have a client who provides no direction. My partner and I signed up for a couples massage weeks out in advance. It was a birthday gift to me and we were looking forward to it all for awhile. When we arrived we were told by the receptionist named Kayla that she left us a voicemail the night before saying it was canceled due to a massage therapist being sick. I told her I didn't get a voice mail and she was very adamant that she left us a voicemail and basically it wasn't her problem. When she told us what number she had it was clear that had the wrong number (which was confusing as I had called on my phone number the week prior to upgrade our massages). She kept repeating that she left us a voicemail and this was the number "they" gave her and it was clear she didn't give a f**k about the mess up. We totally understand someone being sick but the way she handled it was so unapologetic, rude and unprofessional. She wasn't interested in helping us with rebooking for a later date or offering any compensation. Kayla offered that one of us could get a massage while the other used the pool but her attitude was so awful we literally didn't want to support their business. We had looked forward to this for weeks and it was such a huge disappointment to not only be treated that way but Sun Valley's lack of professionalism. We will not be rebooking with them and recommend you go elsewhere for your massage with Zenergy or Trinity Hot Springs. read more

The experience with Tracy has been an incomprehensible mess. All things considered, I was a relaxed bride, but became frustrated on multiple occasions when Tracy, herself, told me incorrect information. During my makeup trial, I was told by my makeup artist that it's better if everyone brings in their own makeup and that the spa does not carry fake eyelashes (something I specifically told Tracy prior to the trial that I wanted.) After, my mother in law and I were given a tour of the spa where we were told that, if we opted to have makeup and hair services here (as opposed to our home), we would rent out the spa-- no one else would be in it, the boys would be free to use the men's area and we would have the room overlooking the pool and Baldy for ourselves. There was no discussion of extra cost for the men, as we "had so many makeup and hair appointments that [the spa] wouldn't be taking additional appointments at the spa that day." When asked if there would be enough makeup and hair people, Tracy assured me that she had them via email, in writing. She also said that the spa would set up food and beverages for us for the morning of the wedding at no extra charge. Additionally, as I was leaving the spa, I was charged for my makeup and hair trial, something Tracy never disclosed during our prior discussions. I checked in with Tracy 2 weeks before the wedding and initially heard nothing for 6 days. I also emailed Nate, her second in command, and also heard nothing. Finally, I reached out to Megan Gergen, and then got a response from Tracy-- who relayed that the men could join us if they got spa treatments or bought day passes, at $60 each. Additionally, eyelashes were now $35-$50 per person, and of course, we didn't need to bring in our own makeup (completely contrary to what I was told during my makeup trial.) She also then told us that there was no food or drinks allowed in the spa. Naturally, this left me completely frazzled. I chatted with Tracy a few days before the wedding over the phone and she explained that she told me that she had given me the tour of the spa, so there was no way she would have made those initial promises. Knowing what happened after, I am appalled that I trusted her and instead blamed myself for perhaps hearing incorrectly. We arrived in Sun Valley the evening of the 29th and my mother in law went in for a pedicure, only to hear that there was one person doing everyone's makeup, and two people doing everyone's hair. At 30 minutes per service, 18 people getting services done, and 5 hours total, that math doesn't work. We immediately called Megan Gergen, who had to spend the rest of the day in the spa figuring out the mess and helped us with ordering food (something Tracy had promised us she would do.) With no word from Tracy throughout all of this, it was naturally extremely anxiety-inducing. September 1st--wedding day. We arrived at the spa and a few of my bridesmaids were waiting around the salon area. There were no chairs provided and it was awkward because there was clearly no place to sit. I asked the front desk when we could go upstairs to the room that overlooked the mountain and they told us that we wouldn't be able to use that room because "it was too small" (???) but that we could use a massage room in the back that had couches. Once we were there, I was personally chastised by a salon employee who was giving facials in the room next door to ours for being too loud-we were and are not a loud group. It was clear that the employee wasn't aware that we were a bridal party, which further indicates that Tracy had not informed any employees of the party of almost 20 people that had booked the spa nearly 9 months prior. Makeup was atrocious. Only one woman from our party kept her makeup the same as it was done, and everyone else had to have their makeup done by one of three bridesmaids who are handy with makeup and brought their own products. Much of the makeup looked like a kindergartner coloring with crayons on several girls. One of the makeup artists repeatedly told me how happy she was to be doing makeup because they "never allow her to do bridal makeup." Further, I specifically told Tracy that my mother would be expecting a blowout. She is the only remotely fussy person in our group and her hair is not difficult to style--she just wanted her hair washed and blowout and instead, the hair person put it up in a ponytail that is more appropriate for a workout class than a wedding. She had to have it redone. My mother in law finally had to have her stepdaughter do her makeup and hair because the salon ran out of time. We were late to the cabin by an hour and a half. This caused my husband and me to not get any photos with our extended families and forced us to take our bridal portraits during dinner when we should've been greeting our guests. We were also charged nearly double the price Tracy had quoted us without an invoice, which we had to request. Brides, steer clear! read more

The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the actual treatments are great but the customer service and overall operations of this place are terrible. For the price they charge, I'd rather get 2 treatments in Ketchum. If you schedule online, chances are they will lose your appointment. If you schedule with a specific person, chances are you won't get that person. After scheduling online with a specific person, not only did I not receive a confirmation, I didn't get the person I requested. After talking to the receptionist and being transferred to the director. I was disconnected. I left several voicemails that were never returned and had to keep calling back to get in touch with this so called "director" who was just flat out rude and couldn't "direct" a car down a one way street if her life depended on it. If you want to avoid the the hassle, save money and spare yourself the run around that this place seems to operate by, go to Ketchum. read more

After a rough (and brief) stormy day on the mountain, I decided to duck into the spa and grab a 30 minute massage. Hey, I'm on vacation! They were able to get me in right away as a walk-in, so that was appreciated. Both my girlfriend and I had the same masseuse at different times in the day, and we both had the same conclusion: it felt more like a physical therapy massage than a relaxation massage. She did a good job gettin' in there, but spent a lot more time talking than I was interested in and I had trouble relaxing. The men's locker room was nice, with private shower stalls and a sauna, but no steam room and it was kinda small. Prices were reasonable for a ski resort- the 30 minute massage was around $60. They also had several other options, including hot stone massages and acupuncture. In the end, they did a fine job and I got what I wanted, but I wasn't really wowed at any time. read more

I had a soothing stone massage, from Cecelia Papas on February 7th. Cecelia was wonderful! I chose her because of the reviews on yelp and I was not disappointed. She is great at what she does and made my birthday a wonderful day to remember. The only problem was, I wish it had been longer. Next time I go in, I will definitely book with Cecelia and get the longer massage, because it is worth it. I also got the hair scalp massage and treatment. I didn't think it would do much for my hair. But I was wrong, it helped it out so much. 10 days later, my hair still feels fantastic, looks good and all the static cling that I've been fighting with for months is gone! I felt a million times better after she applied pressure, especially to a knot on my scalp (I didn't even know you could get knots there!) Was on a family vacation in Sun Valley and hit the Sun Valley Spa with a girlfriend. We called in the morning and asked for 80 minute massages that day and they accommodated us with no problem . The spa is beautiful and every detail was well thought out. The locker room is super nice. The showers, sauna and steam room were very well appointed and spacious. The linens and robes were soft. The shampoos, conditioners and lotions all smelled so good. They have this amazing coconut water that I couldn't stop drinking. Even the lounge area, which I typically don't utilize, was inviting enough for me to sit and relax for 20 minutes. On top of that, you have access to the exercise room and the most massive hot tub/pool that is outside with food and drink service and views of the mountains. read more
