I called and spoke to the spa front desk and explained my situation and that my daughter was required to do a workout for her coach and asked about day pass options for their gym. She gave me the break down for day passes based on age and price, and then told me gym hours. I explained to her what my daughter did, her age and that my daughter just needed a tread and we'd be there tomorrow . When we arrived, we were told she couldn't buy a pass and could only participate in classes. None of this mentioned before. I wasted a half day and private car service to get to this gym so she could work out. I called ahead of time to ensure it would be okay and yet still the staff's lack of training or even basic knowledge of spa/gym rules caused us a major headache on vacay. If we were in a non touristy town, I'd probably be more understanding but cmon, the least this expensive hotel could do is train their staff on basics so not to inconvenience guests and potential customers. Of course when I asked to speak to a manager so that they were aware of what occurred so they could work on training, she was coincidentally unavailable. I also called and asked for her twice after this experience. My phone call checking in on guest passes for the gym was at 11:15 on 12/30. I'd encourage you to train people who work for a supposed high end establishment. read more

I had a manicure and pedicure and spent $380+. The technician had shaky hands and the shellac polish was put on very thick. About an hour after my service was done and I had left the spa, the gel polish started lifting on my toe nails and 5 of them peeled off almost instantly. I believe this was because of how thick it was put on and the fact that it was painted over my skin causing it to separate almost instantly. We were staying an hour away from the spa and had to leave the following day to drive home, so I did not have time to go back and get the issue fixed. I sent a note to management expressing my frustration because I spent 4x what I would normally spend on this service and expected more, but did not hear back. read more

My massage here felt perfunctory and not overly soothing. The facilities, though very clean and nice, felt more like a gym than those of a spa. I would have given more stars if the massage had felt great but even after a long day of skiing I didn't feel like my sore muscles really got much relief. Decided to take a break from skiing and scheduled a massage. It was wonderful! The women's lounge has everything you could wish for: sauna, steam room, Roman bath, showers, etc. As part of your spa visit you can also use the indoor/outdoor pool (which has a slide) or one of the many indoor/outdoor hot tubs. The lounge also offers shampoo, conditioner, body wash, mouthwash, lotion, hairspray, etc. Plus there is a shower mist spray that is divine and you can purchase some at the front desk! Also, they offer cool mint towels to use after you leave the sauna/steam room. After spending time in the lounge it was time for my massage. My masseuse was great! He asked if the pressure was good or if he needed to go deeper which I did request in a couple spots that were tight from skiing. All in all I left the spa feeling amazing and wanting to go back!! I spent the whole day here taking advantage of everything The Peaks Spa has to offer, and I am well pleased! First, the hardest thing to control is the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, and they were top notch. Other than a neglect of saying "goodbye" as I left, the staff was completely accommodating and comfortable to be around. They continuously cleaned the robe and towel baskets, averted their eyes in the locker and jacuzzi areas, and were available for any little request that I could come up with. I participated in a group fitness class that was just as grueling as my regular one at home. We had a room about half full with plenty of personal attention as well as private training time. The outdoor pool and spa was simply gorgeous. There were attendants on duty who should have asked me if I'd like a drink or food, but other than that it was a lovely experience. I know if I had gone up to the attendants, they would have been happy to get whatever I desired. The hot tubs, steam showers, regular showers and dressing facilities were great. This is a full service so with lots of amenities. What would I suggest as improvements? Simple cosmetic upkeep is needed. Fresh paint, wood stain, some calking and replacement of ceiling tiles could vastly improve the spa experience. Make sure that the wonderful spa music reaches all areas. And expand the meditation area and move away from the treatment greeting room to assure silence. These are easy fixes; but even without these changes, The Peaks delivered a wonderful day experience, and I will be back! read more

I had the best and worst experience at this location all in two consecutive days. After a long day of skiing, there is nothing better than a hot spa and massage treatment. The Peaks has a great facility, including, hot pool, well stocked fitness center, strong steam/sauna and very nice salt spa. On my first visit, I scheduled my Swedish 90-minute treatment with Saskia. Saskia is one of the best MT that I've had. I highly recommend her. She has great skills, loves what she does and listens well to your needs. On my second day however, as Saskia was not available and the only timeslot available for the day was at 5:15PM on Friday. This would be tight with my dinner reservation, but I went ahead and booked anyways. My only request was for a female and I was scheduled with Tish. As I sat in a comfortable waiting room for 10 minutes before my treatment, a customer (named Lisa) and her husband were hovering around the room impatiently. When a male MT came to Lisa for her treatment, she was quite upset and insisted that she wanted Tish instead. You could sense the awkwardness and tension even from others in the room. Unclear about how to resolve the issue, the male MT went to the backroom to explore options to please customer Lisa, I went to reception to confirm that my treatment was indeed scheduled with Tish. Tish came into the waiting room, greeted Lisa with an apparent sense of familiarity and acknowledge that it would not be a problem and that she would be happy to take care of her. I had a split second decision to approach and confront the huddle with Lisa and Tish, but decided not to. Lisa and Tish walked out and into their treatment room. Naturally, 5 minutes later the male MT came out, introduced himself to me and said that a swap had been made. I said that I had requested a female. He quickly pointed out that there was no other MT left and that he was a professional. While I acknowledge his potential ability and professionalism, I declined the treatment and went downstairs to the reception desk. A nice reception lady became upset when I shared my story and she asked me to go back up to the waiting room and that she would resolve the issue. 3 minutes later, the front desk coordinator came with only apologies. She did offer a comp session the next day, which I could not use as it was my last day in Telluride. Needless to say, my principal issue is with demanding customers (Lisa in this case), who unless the facility had doubled book Tish, acted in a completely irrational and inconsiderate way and should have likely known who she was scheduled for her treatment at the time of scheduling. Secondly, I hold Tish and the male MT responsible for not even consulting with me in their arbitrary decision to swap customers. Ultimately, the facility is responsible for managing customers, managing schedules properly and training their staff. So my review is mixed here, great facility, but watch for pretentious customers or lackluster scheduling as a potential issue. For what is suppose to be a relaxing experience this was anything but that. read more

S(uperb) P(erfect) A(mazing). Don't pass up a spa day at the Peaks when you're in Telluride. There're spacious lockers and dressing areas, so you're not bumping into anyone while changing from hiking boots to floppy spa shoes. I love the self service cucumber applications in the huge whirlpool bath. The dry and wet saunas are immaculate, with easily controlled temperatures. Visitors get a huge terry robe to disappear into. Ever get a spa robe that was too small? Didn't think so. This whole spa thing is about swaddling and comfort, so we're all walking around looking like we borrowed a linebacker's towel-turned-coat. I always schedule a massage, which can become a daunting choice while reading the Peaks' long menu of services. The outdoor pool is heaven. And why not? Positioned correctly, you've got a full view of the mountains. This setting is SO Telluride, with local baby mommas and their very cool babies in stylin' hats enjoying the sun and the water along with the visitors. Drinks can be stiff, but that can be an advantage when deciding to follow an 8 year old inside and up the ladder to the pool slide. The inner pool flows into the outdoor pool in good weather. Definitely worth the price of the luxury ticket. read more

This spa is far from relaxing. The pool area is always crowded and there were only four umbrellas available to guests. On a hot day at 9,000 feet it's impossible to sit in the sun with no shade. The chairs are super close together so unless you want to listen to the people next to you, you're out of luck. Plus they face the back side of the hotel, which is a pretty awful view. And did I mention the screaming kids everywhere? You have the water slide to thank for that. The poolside food is awful - premade sandwiches that are soggy and flavorless. Now onto the spa. I had a facial and the woman had hands like a linebacker. Really rough. The facial consisted of one oil after the next literally dribbled onto my face. I felt like a turkey being basted. There was no steaming or rounds of cleansing like I've experienced elsewhere. Just one cleanser, a round with a clarisonic and then dribble dribble dribble. Plus there was no foot rub as advertised. The sauna was not hot either. The only really nice thing is the Roman bath, which is the only good thing about this spa. I was disappointed to say the least. read more

So, I came here for my first time last year, and it was amazing. The staff at the spa really made my trip, recommending different restaurants to go to and inviting me out with them to locals' karaoke. They made me feel so welcome, I even extended my stay at the hotel so I could spend another whole day at the spa. This was not the case when I returned this year with friends. Hoping the two who were at the front desk last year would still be there, I took my group down to the spa. When we got there, the two who were at the front desk looked at me and my group of friends as if we had just gotten off a wayward party bus that missed the exit for Daytona Beach. At first I looked at my friends to see who had forgotten to wear their shirt or shoes, but then I realized the two at the front desk were not glaring because we were in any way obnoxious, they were glaring because we meant they actually had to do work. "You know it's 45 bucks to get in, right?" one said, trying to get us not to. I paid for my group, because I had sold them on the idea of going to the spa, and then I asked the workers where would be a good place to eat in town that night. "A lot of things are closed already for off-season," was the first response. "What about the New Sheraton?" I said, I think surprising them. I had eaten there last year (it's delicious!!). "It's always so crowded," the other worker responded. Ok. "What about karaoke? Where's the place the locals go to?" "There's not really karaoke in Telluride," was the response I got. "Oh, I went last year," After an awkward silence, I asked, "Are the regular, full-time workers gone for off-season too? Are you both seasonals?" They were offended, but I honestly didn't know, because you would think a hotel like the Peaks would train its staff to not make their guests feel like a burden. These two couldn't even recommend a restaurant to me let alone even think to up-sell a treatment to me or my friends. (We ended up getting massages at Madeline Hotel the next day and they were amazing). All they said was, "You know it's 45 bucks, right?" It was so rude!! I am still not convinced the real workers weren't on vacation and these two were understudies who never bothered to learn the lines of the play. The initial interaction was so bad, I honestly wish I just turned around and didn't pay. In this case, I consider the lack of staff interaction we encountered after entering a blessing. No one to refill the empty water dispenser? Great! No one to ask how we are enjoying the spa?Awesome! Luckily neither were there when we left. Two empty chairs much preferred! We still did find locals' karaoke night. And it was a blast! But maybe these two really didn't know about it because they weren't there. Love the facial I got while staying at the see forever cabins. It was my first facial and it was absolutely amazing. I do wish that I had seen the coupon on Yelp! It's very expensive but what else can you expect at a beautiful spa like this one. Best tip is to be open with your facial specialist, she was very receptive that I didn't like hot steam. The overall spa is beautiful and has many great accommodations to enjoy (indoor/outdoor pool, exercise rooms with classes, rock wall, yoga studio). My review is more about the salon services I and my bridesmaids enjoyed during our stay for my wedding weekend in October. Tricia and team were great. They were personable and professional with the skills we'd expect from a finer hotel. My ladies looked beautiful for the big day and so did I. What an amazing place! I brought a large group (9 girls) here for a break during a week of skiing. We all got different services, but all had the same thing to say, WOW! Really quite reasonably priced when you consider how much more you can do, like use the steam rooms, the sauna, the roman bath, and the indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubes. We literally spent the whole day there. The staff was accommodating, and never pretentious. It was the highlight of the trip. read more

A fantastic spa facility. I loved all of the complimentary amenities, free to the hotel guests. Sauna, spa, roman tub, relaxation room, workout room... $15 specialty classes are a nice addition as well. Brian was a fantastic and professional massage therapist. The gift shop sells awesome toiletries and gift items. I recommend purchasing the tranquility essential oil. It is pricey at $115 for the small bottle, but it is very sensual and luxurious. This place charges $45 for an adult day pass and $22.50 for a kid's pass. A day pass could be at the end of the day or the beginning. For $45 you get a run down, dirty, broken half of what you expect spa. The doors to the changing room were broken and wouldn't lock. The staff was unbelievably rude. If I could give 0 stars I would. We booked an appointment less than 24 hours from the time. We asked specifically if we could cancel anytime because we might not be able to get a sitter. The man said yes you may cancel. Remember, it's already less than 24 hours until this appointment. Never stated their less than 24 hour 50% charge cancelation policy. Long story short... when we went to cancel and got charged...somehow we are in the wrong because we should know this policy even though the man told us we could cancel, it's a "standard" policy. They said that we were the "problem" here and that the customer in fact is almost "always wrong" not right. Real things said from two managers there. I understand cancelation policies, I do, but that's why we asked. If they told us this info I would've not booked it because I knew the chances were high of not finding a sitter. So now we have been charged $125, on top of the horrible attitude from the staff. They were very insulting, and talked down on us... Basically insinuating that we are dumb for not knowing this information regardless of what the man had told us. read more

Came to Peaks "Resort" & Spa to find out there is NO air conditioner in the rooms . Was told to open the two little windows for air. Room was 80-90 degrees even at night!! Couldn't sleep at all. Walking down the hallways which was air conditioned to walk into our hot room was miserable!! We came the first week in August hoping for a "Resort" stay... WRONG! Beware, hidden fees on top of hotel stay ($ 50.00 per night, and no parking except Valet which was 20.00/night. What a terrible experience.... Was in Telluride for the Jazz Fesitval and went to the Peaks Spa so that my kids could swim. This place has really gone downhill since I was there last. The spa is tired and is in dire need of an updating. There was mold in the shower area and the pool was somewhat dirty. Unfortunately, they are still very proud of their prices and everything was severely overpriced. I would not recommend this spa to anyone. read more

Unfortunately, the spa seems to continue to be a very loosely run operation with little focus on customer service at the front desk. Arrived early for a yoga class and sat in the yoga room for 15 minutes after class was to start. Went to front desk to inquire and the instructor had cancelled. Not one of the two desk attendants nor spa manager at desk mentioned this at check in and no staff member saw fit to inform the guests who were waiting for the class. With infrequent exception the front desk staff continues to be completely ambivalent towards guests and poorly trained. read more
