It's been a very long time since I had a gym membership. My wife signed us up for Hot Worx before…read moreit was even built. It seemed like something different and I had not heard of Hot Worx. I'm sure glad she did it. First and foremost we can embark on this fitness journey together. The rest is the concept of exercising in a hot sauna might be beneficial. I went to my orientation and got my iPhone set up with the apps. The employee who took me through was a gem. She seemed knowledgeable and passionate about what they do there. The dependence on my phone as I exercise is not my favorite but it's necessary and I understand that. Technology is interwoven into everything we do anyway. I like how clean it is inside and it's all brand new. They require you to purchase their mat and exercise towel and they're the only mats allowed. Also get yourselves a pedicure because no shoes and socks in the saunas except for cycle and rowing. There are many programs to take advantage of. All of them are inside a sauna with the exception of the free weight section. There is cycling, yoga, stretching, rowing etc. the list is online. It's all led by virtual instructors. Again you will need your cell phone to start and track all your programs. For my first try I did the cycle workout. It's only 15 minutes but it was intense. Especially in a wooden box at 125 degrees. I thought I would have a problem breathing hot air but it didn't really affect me. I've been in saunas with the hot rocks and water bucket and it's hard to breathe. The saunas at Hot Worx are infrared so maybe that's why. I also did the Hot Barre None program and that kicked my butt big time. Every movement was precise and isolated muscles. I was wiped out after 40 minutes. You schedule your sessions through the app. It lets you see if anyone is in the time slots you want (max of 3) so you can decide if you want in with others or not. Personally I think three might too many for some of the saunas like the Hot Barre None. I was in there by myself. With two others it might seem claustrophobic. The place is open 24/7 and there's a second app you use to unlock the door. Staff is there during the day certain hours but mostly its just the patrons. Today I was in there with all women. I didn't see a man anywhere unless I looked in a mirror. I'm sure I forgot some features but I'll leave up to you dear reader to go on down to Hot Worx and find out for yourself. If you see a sweaty red faced middle aged man about to keel over it's probably me. Happy exercising!

Pros: - You can select the temperature of the saunas…read more- Virtual instructors lead the workout so you never feel on the spot - You can cross train using different workouts - Free weights are available (but in a small area and they are NOT allowed in sauna) - 24/7 access using an app and there are two panic-button necklaces for safety if you are alone in the studio - The video reminds you to clean the equipment and wipes are provided - Staff is very friendly and I have seen them cleaning often when I am in the studio during day time hours Cons: - Other people can book the sauna at the same time with you. I dislike this for many reasons. 1. I use this method of workout to reduce human interaction. 2. If I decide to relax and use it truly as a sauna or meditate, I cannot. Or other times I do my own workout - which I can't when someone else is there. 3. The sauna is just too small to fit three people. 4. Plus this requires a compromise on the setting of the sauna temperature.... I wish you could block the time out and if you choose to, "invite" others to your work out session - You can't stretch out from one end of the sauna to the other - Lack of variety of the same classes (the same workouts repeat over and over again) - You are required to buy products to support the sauna (mat, towel, bands) for ISO workouts ($$$ upfront) - Certain workouts aren't available during times that are convenient (for example if I can only workout M-F at 4:30AM - only 4 of the 9 ISO workouts are available). - You must use the App to track your progress *and there are glitches at times

We are here for a couple months and took advantage of there no membership fee to join! Super nice…read morestaff, knowledgeable, courteous, encouraging and overall excellent! We use to work out here 20 years ago. The place on the outside still doesn't look like much but don't judge a book by its cover! Inside they are equipped with new circuit training equipment, lots of cardio machines. Upstairs is my favorite loaded with free weights and more machines and lots of outside light. Excellent pool for lap swimming which my husband does while I hit the cardio! Unlimited classes and no fee! Lots of fun! Daycare on site too! If you need to get back at it this is the place!

When I initially joined in 2023, the pool was maintained (i.e., chlorine level testing, dirt…read moreremoval at the bottom of the pool, etc.) But now, there is no maintenance at all, and an uncomfortable number of spiders in the water. AND there was a wooly looking creature that I have no idea what it was, but it was disgusting. They increased the membership dues and stopped cleaning. I'm not sure how that works, but I guess this is how they roll these days. There is supposed to be three lap lanes, but the lane dividers are old, and one is missing altogether. At one point I was told that new lane dividers were ordered and would be installed next Tuesday. Well, here we are months later and many Tuesdays later, and still, no new lane dividers and one still missing. The reasoning is that there are "missing products", and they're busy and haven't been able to find the time? Like, wait, what? I don't even know what to do with that. Can someone please explain to me what that means?? Like, I'm a three-year-old.

The few high school kids I do see are always working out. They have a lot of equipment and I rarely have to wait for anything that I need. I did take off 1 star for not fixing broken equipment in a timely manner though, the same machines have been off/broken since I joined 6 months ago; they really should remove them or get them fixed. The classes can get a little loud and obnoxious (even with my earbuds turned all the way up I can still hear them), so if that kind of stuff bothers you, you may want to plan your workout around the spin classes.

Let me start by saying that the staff is wonderful! Its a pretty clean place and the have all the…read morebasic machines and such. But there is only one of each weight machine so if someone is on the machine you want you either have to wait them out or your are out of luck. There is ALOT of high school students that go here and lets just say they dont know much about gym etiquette. They seem to be on social hour...they sit on the machines and talk to their friends or play with their phones, they are oblivious to the fact that maybe someone is wanting use the machine they have planted their butt on. I am actually there to get a workout, most days I leave supremely annoyed, because of this. And then there is the locker room.....the worst layout ive ever seen. The floor is ALWAYS soaking wet. Theres one bench to change at and it has full length mirrors on 2 sides. So as you can imagine there is no hiding anything. And to make it worse its in full view of the entrance to the locker room! There's only 2 curtained changing areas and the days I go they always seem to be in use by people who think that its a place to store their personal items for the length of their workout. Theres plenty of open lockers to use so I dont know why they do this. So you can either take their stuff out or leave it and change in there anyway. Im not a fan of either of those options.

On top of that, we couldn't be happier with our new family membership. My kids love the kids zone and frequently ask to go there. The swimming pool has been a great addition to our weekly routine, and the kids night out events have allowed my husband and I to have regular date nights for the first time in a decade. My kids are really excited to get signed up for YMCA summer camp, too. YMCA programs have really helped my family thrive. My only wish is that the kid zone would expand their hours. It's tough for working parents to have dinner and get there before they close on weekday evenings, and even harder on the weekends because they close at lunch time on Saturday and are closed on Sunday. And once the kids have finished their weekend sports engagements, there is just no time. I would be willing to pay more for after hours kid zone access!

I don't want to go to an early class, or an after dinner one. But that's when the regular classes are offered. The only ones a little later in the morning, are chair yoga! Really! Not all seniors have to be in those... But I have seen some reviews by Seniors that complain about the high fees here - Actually, a lot of Medicare plans pay for exercise programs - my Premera Supplement does - so I hope the Y takes some of those FYI!
