Excellent service, very comfortable rooms with plenty of space, and great location. They even managed to have a decent breakfast despite covid precautions. Two negative observations though. . . One, the room was over furnished. It felt kind of stuffed with things. Not a major problem by any means but, it did make an otherwise large room feel cramped. Two, please, please, please, get better mattresses! Unfortunately, this was a very major issue. My husband (who could sleep through practically anything) made a comment that he felt like he was sleeping on a plywood cott. I have to agree, it was not a pleasant nights sleep. If the mattresses were updated, this would be one of our favorite places to stay. read more

Charming, delightful, cute, clean (nay - spotless), accommodating, warm, comfortable, hygge, cozy, relaxing, luxurious, fabulous, rustic, restful, welcoming... those are just some of the words that spring to mind when I think of the Heron Inn. We've stayed 3 or 4 times in a very short space of time - all since COVID-19 - and have been charmed and delighted on each visit. We stay in room 34 - and only room 34 - but we've peeked into some of the other rooms on the 3rd floor and they all look terrific. Room #34 is a double sized room, with a queen size bed, a deep jetted tub, a settee and a window seat with cushions. There is A/C, TV, a fridge, wine glasses and a wine opener, a small closet, a writing desk, and a 3-sided gas fire that's the bee's knees. Alvin the innkeeper and his positively adorable dog (I am not a dog lover and I am crazy about his delicate little critter!) are a genuinely welcoming presence. Maybe Elrond was like this? I think of the Last Homely House when I check in here. Everyone on staff is cheerful, helpful, and pleasant. Breakfast is fab. Guest services - including coffee/tea service, fridge with milk and cream, self-serve cereal, movies to rent, and more - are thoughtful and lovely. Life is stressful and crazy right now. Things are falling apart. If you've got the scratch, do yourself a favor and book yourself a little getaway retreat here. You won't regret it. read more

My Friend and I had massages at the Day Spa, and they were the worst and strangest massages we have ever had. We had the "Everyone's Favorite Head-to-toe". First, when my therapist started, she was basically just rubbing oil into my skin without actually massaging me. Then she said "Oh, your back and shoulders are tight. You need a deep tissue massage." I said fine, and she said it will be $30 extra. I said fine, whatever, willing to pay more since I was already on the table and wanted to actually have a real massage. Then everything was off and weird -- she would drive her elbow into my bones instead of my muscles. She also had very long fingernails which were super scratchy and distracting and sometimes painful. My friend, on the other table next to me had an even worse experience. Her therapist (who did not upsell her like mine did) kept rubbing her face from chin to forehead, pulling open her eyelids. She also had long fingernails and ended up SCRATCHING MY FRIEND'S CORNEA!! Do NOT get a massage at this spa. The owner was also super defensive and not very understanding when I told him this, so he clearly does not care about his customers' experience. read more

My boyfriend and I waited a little too long to book some summer getaways (amazing how you have to plan months ahead in the PNW these days) and were pleasantly surprised to snag a room at this lovely inn. We stayed in the King Fireplace room--it was spacious and homey, with so many thoughtful touches. I loved that we could check in a little early, and appreciated the welcome letter and list of restaurant recommendations. The inn is in easy walking distance of the main drag of La Conner. On our second morning I got a very effective deep tissue massage--so convenient to have the treatment rooms literally across the hall (I didn't even have to put on shoes!). It's an inn, not a big hotel, so you do hear some creaking and soft noise from surrounding rooms, but it's no big deal. We tend to keep to ourselves when we travel so didn't interact with staff too much, but all of the contacts we had were positive and warm. La Conner is such a wonderful little town and so close to Seattle--now that we know there's such a great place to stay there, I am sure we'll be back soon. read more

From the moment we arrived until we (unfortunately) had to check out, this stay at Heron Inn was an incredible experience! You walk into a nice area that feels like a living room complete with a beautiful fireplace! The Inn keeper Alvin and his amazing staff are friendly, professional & just plain nice! Our room was amazing and included a massive jetted tub (heron suite #34) and was worth every penny! Cozy (3-sided) fireplace in our room, comfy bed and the Breakfast was amazing (and we were even able to bring it up for private dining in our room!) Creme Brûlée French toast and Egg frittatas! You can also book an incredible massage while there - yes, I DID indulge, which includes a later checkout!! The town of La Conner is quaint and the inn is within easy walking distance! We found this spot on a whim looking for something to do for our wedding anniversary since covid ruined our vacation plans. We are so glad we decided too book The Heron. Husband and I both got the cbd oil deep tissue massage. It was amazing and the masseuse was so sweet. The inn keeper was very pleasant and made us feel right at home. He does it all himself with no help. He made the food, kept it clean, does the bookings. We were surprised everything is kept so well,, clean,, and comfortable for a gentleman yo ne doing everything by himself. Everything was perfect and cozy. The bed was comfortable and the TV had a great selection of channels. One of my fave things was the fact that there were wine glasses and wine bottle opener in room. Haha. The hot tub was amazing and so relaxing out in the open. We will definitely be back. We cannot wait and already plannimg our next visit. We had room 21. It was perfect. read more

Nice place to come during phase 2 of COVID-19. We stayed in room 33. Good accommodations that allowed our dog to come for an extra $40. Didn't have the personal touch of a smaller B&B, but still was comfortable and very reasonably priced. I counted 11 cars in the parking lot in the AM, but it didn't feel crowded. The breakfast was good, not fabulous, but the bacon was the best I ever tasted. I would stay there again, but maybe consider their competition, Wild Iris Inn next store. read more

My fiance and I wanted a nice relaxing getaway they were so accommodating Alvin The innkeeper called me twice to make sure we had our spa reservations and to let us know we could check in early which I really appreciated. When we arrive we felt at home there was music playing in the lobby the fireplace the lights the flowers the coffee everything was ready for us. We scheduled our massages and the ladies were extremely professional we were able to relax in the warm scenic hot tub in the back overlooking a beautiful farm it was very romantic. I was so impressed with how well they made sure we felt like home and we're taking care of our breakfast was made to order and delicious we had the frittata with bacon and chia seed yogurt with fresh fruit I highly recommend this for a couple retreat away we ended up walking to a nearby restaurant for dinner it overlooking the channel. All the restaurants are within walking distance. The reason why I made it before Stars instead of five is because we definitely would have liked a little more privacy in our room the walls are a little thin and quite hours are fairly early at 8 p.m. read more

My Sister's Fiance, who is out of town, purchased a Christmas Gift Certificate for her recently, Paid for it with a US POST OFFICE MONEY ORDER. As per the directions from "Alvin" the guy in charge.. "Alvin" decided he didn't want the money order after all! "Alvin" decided it was a fraud, and was going to "tear it up"! He called it a SCAM!!! My sister went by to retrieve it (as it would take 6 weeks to even try to get a refund from post office) she just wanted to let him know she is a REAL person. "Alvin" invited her into the office where he was Verbaly abusive and RUDE, he then actually PUSHED HER out the DOOR, yes, PUSHED HER. PLEASE Women, don't fool yourself, THIS IS AN ASSULT !!! People like this have no business in the Spa Industry, let alone in business anywhere. DON'T Support this business. Go somewhere reputable, where you won't be man-handled! Also, "Alvin" doesn't even bother to wear a face mask when he yells at you. ONE STAR is not a LOW enough rating. read more

Genuine hospitality here! The staff seem to truly care about the guests and each other. Breakfast made to order and you can dibe inside or on the veranda. Sparkling clean and comfy beds. Slept better than I have in years. Booked a facial, massage and foot scrub with Barbara and it was so lovely and relaxing. I booked two nights here but wound up staying three. LaConner has such a warm and welcoming vibe that I loved do much that I stumbled upon a rental and will start moving there next week! read more

What a treat! We booked this the week before we arrived after the other B&B we had booked called us to cancel due to a mixup. It was fortunate for us that the Heron Inn had availability as we were pleased from start to finish! They are very accommodating, helpful, and friendly. The room we stayed in was spacious with a fantastic view. We fell asleep to the sounds of frogs chirping outside our window. And we woke to the sounds of birds chirping in the morning. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. There are plenty of places for folks to sit and read or enjoy the outdoors too. I hope to stay here again when we return to LaConner. read more

My husband and I love this place! We always spring for the romantic couples suite with a fireplace and a huge spa tub. The staff is so kind and friendly. This place is also dog friendly! For a small additional fee, we bring along our two dogs. Breakfast is great and there's an extra room with movies and games to pick from. I absolutely loved The Heron inn. My daughter recommended it after she went. First: I loved that there were no screaming kids running around. It was peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Second: the inn keeper is very pleasant. He made us breakfast and treated us like we were in our own home. We were greeted with a personalized letter for our stay with recommendations of nearby restaurants and attractions. Third: the room was clean and most importantly, the bathroom was clean as well as the towels. Services: My husband and I both got the deep tissue massage with CBD oil. The massage was heaven and extremely relaxing. The mood was great and the masseuse was very nice and professional. We are very happy with our experience. We cannot wait to be back. read more

WORST experience I have ever had with any hotel! My husband stayed there for one night and drove his brand new collector car that was less than a week old! When checking out, the owner laughs and says that his employee Madison wrecked into our car in the parking lot!!!!!!!! My husband had to call the police to file the report and almost missed his ferry to return home! We are out over $20,000 in the value of the car and we will have to drive to the mainland and pay for our personal expenses to get the car fixed and take off work. When I called to talk to them, the employee who answered the phone said he was too busy talking to vendors on the phone to talk to me and literally hung up on me. I called back and asked to talk to the owner and he was very rude! He admits that his employee hit our car in the parking lot and he offered no compensation and he actually yelled at me on the phone and told me my husband should not park near the white line! DO NOT STAY AT THIS INN! They are horrible! read more

It is all about Mari the masseuse. Sure the B&B looked lovely, what, with the fireplace and the tea station, and super sweet staff, but I was there for one reason and one reason alone - I needed a massage. And I'm not talking your lie down, zone-out, and drift off to soothing sounds of babbling brook massage, I needed her to go full-elbow, locked thumbs, no mercy deep-tissue massage. And Mari came through. More often than not, I'm frustrated 10 minutes into a massage when I realize that I'm just not going to get what I need. But in this occasion, I found myself cheering Mari on as she dug into my shoulder blades until she was able to loosen up 3-months worth of constant airplane seat-shape I had contorted myself into. She was very kind and obliging, but soon the chatting stopped and she got right down to business. If you happen to be in the area and you need a great deep tissue massage, look no further. And hey, apparently the B&B is wonderful too! read more

Cute little inn! Was definitely in walking distance of the whole town and we walked to one of the farthest restaurants. We had the room with two queens and had three people. Definitely a little tight to walk around in, but perfect as a pit stop on the way to Anacortes! The beds were very comfy and we slept well with the windows open (until the birds woke up and began serenading us loudly). Each room has their own bathroom and our bathroom was clean and a good size. Unfortunately, we had to leave too early so we weren't able to enjoy their breakfast, but they had a coffee and tea bar set up that was very extensive! They had movies available to take up to our room, which we took advantage of! Only complaint is that they charged extra to have a third person in the room. read more

I absolutely adore this place! Last year, after a spectacularly long streak with not a single day off (not even weekends or nights), my husband surprised me with a getaway to La Conner. We'd lived in Stanwood before, but didn't even know what La Conner was, let alone where. This place was a treat! We arrived not knowing what to expect, but everything was perfect. Great service (these people love what they do), great atmosphere and decor, very comfortable and warm and cozy, with a full tea bar, library with games, books, and movies, and a big fireplace with comfy furniture. I'm someone who loves making myself tea often, and I wasn't let down by their selection. What makes this place great is that you can have the cheapest room in the place, or the most $$$ room, and it's lovely either way. It's still a perfect getaway, quiet, warm, and private. And they win when it comes to breakfast. I've stayed at many places, but this place has the best breakfast - yogurt, fresh fruit, everything made fresh. We had an overnight stay here on 4/8-4/9, during the tulip festival, and had the most peaceful breakfast on the patio, with the sun shining and what felt like the place to ourselves. Very romantic, very quaint, a perfect private getaway. Side note: If I had one pet peeve, it's the soaps. The handsoap and bath soaps just don't fit the charming nature of the place - they're just cheap and motel-6 ish. It really stands out when everything else is so beautiful and warm. Even if the same Softsoap liquid hand soap was in a prettier container, it'd be an improvement. (It's my only pet peeve, because I'm insane.) read more

We stayed for just one night in La Conner while visiting the Tulip Festival, but I wish it could have been longer. First impressions are everything: the pleasant lobby lounge area has a big gas fireplace with couches around it, and the owner Al upgraded us at no charge to a nicer room than the one I originally booked. ("We love Canadians," he said - can't argue with that sentiment, eh?) Our new room was on the second floor, at the back, overlooking the garden. The weather was iffy, so we didn't use the adjacent decks, but apparently they also serve breakfast on the back porch in good weather. The bed was super-comfy. And it was very quiet, with no noise from other rooms, which is a big thing with me, who never leaves home without earplugs and/or headphones. The owners live across the street, but always make sure you have anything you need, and are always reachable by cellphone. You are free to help yourself to wine and beer from the honour bar (just remember what you had and settle up later), free tea, and games, books and DVDs. Breakfast time is flexible, from about 8 am to 9:30, and very good - nothing like waking up to the scent of bacon wafting through the hallways, and a few cups of excellent coffee. Jarlsberg quiche yums. It is very affordable and just a few blocks from La Conner's waterfront with shops and restaurants. Unless you require elevators, why wouldn't you stay here? read more

This is my fourth time here and it's a little getaway from the city for me. This is the first time I haven't gotten a massage - but I feel relaxed and wanted to try out my new camera on some birdwatching and eat dinner in town. Kate is so helpful and fun and even has a dog friendly room! Oh - and the breakfasts are to die for, even though I am not a breakfast eater... A great escape! read more
