As she mentioned he was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and had outstanding bedside manner. He took the time to listen, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand during the exam and made me feel completely at ease. What stood out most was the flexibility and thoughtfulness in discussing treatment options and next steps--I never felt rushed and truly felt included in the decision-making process. It's rare to find a provider who combines expertise with genuine compassion. I'm very grateful for such a positive first visit and would highly recommend this practice. Everyone from the front desk personnel, his administrative staff, the x-ray technician, then his shadowing residents x2 were great. I visited the 20th st location but will visit Georgetown due to ease of transport.

Dear GT Medstar Medical Team,…read more My name is Sheila Westerfield and I was an in-patient at your hospital from October 25 through October 30, 2024. I must apologize because this email thank you is a very long time coming, however, I have been working on my recovery and PT. I wanted to thank each of you for your amazing care both medically, physically and emotionally as your team and you guided me through my recovery period at the hospital during my stay. From the excellent medical care and advice that was given to me both pre op hip replacement surgery to post op surgery, Dr. Park, I must say you are the BEST! I am so grateful that you are and were my surgeon involved in my care from the day I came to you for consultation, during and after my surgery and your excellent follow up and care! Your attentiveness to my requests and care will always be appreciated with deep gratitude. You also possess an amazing beside manner. I grew up in a family of physicians from my grandfather, uncle and brother -- so I am quite familiar with the quality of care that can be given to a patient -- not just medically, but the overall support emotionally that makes an outstanding doctor like yourself stand out from the rest. Thank you! Secondly and not really secondly, the amazing care that I received from the nursing staff, your staff, Dr. Park -- your resident, the physical therapists, nurse techs, the client care experience staff and down to the young man who cleaned my room twice a day and the food services staff, I remain extremely grateful. The quality of care and attention and kindness and compassion of all of the staff mentioned above (the names are listed below) -- I hope that I didn't leave anyone out, please know how fabulous you all are and I am grateful that you chose the medical profession because you are exactly where you belong. You all have huge hearts and exude patience and devotion to the career you chose. It is my hope that the director's of GT Medstar and your immediate supervisors and managers will have the opportunity to see this email. Because I don't have access to their emails, I am hopeful that this email will be forwarded to each -- from the president/ceo at GT, the head of the surgical orthopedics department, the head of nursing and patient experience department, director of physical therapy, food services and the janitorial department. I am healing quickly -- walking sometimes without a cane and having no difficulty navigating my 14 steps (LOL). All of this is due to the excellent care that each of you provided me and your encouragement each step of the way. The qualities that each of you possess are those that each person who has to undergo surgery or just a stay at the hospital prays for!!!! I know for certain as I am a praying "gal" who when my eyes open I am prayerful and thankful and before they close my prayers and gratefulness are repeated to my God -- and, what I can say is that HE answered my prayers, for TRUE!!!!! I wish each of you all of the BLESSINGS that God has in store for each of you and your families. I know that each day that you come to work, you are BLESSING yet many more patients! Thank you again. I will continue to keep each of you close to my heart and in my prayers. Tomorrow, my plan is to post this on Google!!!!!!! Blessings. With much thanks, Sheila H. I'm very conflicted writing this review, but here it is:…read more First, the good: Dr. Gwinn is an excellent surgeon. He is clearly very skilled and knowledgeable, and he immediately instilled confidence. Having this surgery was a major decision, and Dr. Gwinn put me at ease, and I believe I made the right decision choosing him for this procedure. I also have nothing but good things to say about his PA. If you choose MMI, you will likely receive quality medical care. Now, the bad: Quite literally, everything else. I have never experienced this much frustration dealing with a medical office staff. Communication is pretty much nonexistent, and when you do reach someone, most of the time they pass the buck, say your issue is not their department, and then blind-transfer you to a voicemail box. That voicemail will not be returned. You will have to call back over and over again, and even after explaining that your voicemail was never returned, you will simply be blind transferred to the same voicemail again, ad nauseam. This is true of scheduling, medical questions and concerns, administrative issues, etc. This is beyond frustrating, especially while recovering from major surgery and navigating other issues such as FMLA concerns. Also, if you need any forms filled out, they will nickel-and-dime you. Need a one-pager stating that you are medically fit to return to work after FMLA, that's $10, need another form, that's $10, even if you download it digitally. I'm not really concerned about the small fee, but it seems petty, especially considering I'm continuing to have and pay for follow-ups with the doctor. It's just another example of a top-down culture that seems to be anything but customer-focused. Again, I'm grateful for the quality medical care I've received from Dr. Gwinn. That being said, I think the way this practice is run is detracting from that care. As frustrating as the totality of my experience has been with MMI, it's unlikely I would recommend the practice to a friend, family member, or colleague.
