I would give this office no stars if possible. Monica in the Rockville office is horrible. She has…read moreno idea what she is doing. They booked my elderly mother for an appointment tomorrow and called me after 4pm today to cancel it. The reason? You can't have two appointments in the same week! This was for a nerve conduction test she was told she had to have. Patients and their caregivers deserve to be treated better. Shame on you Monica. I can't tell you anything about Dr. Nikhar. I called and spoke with Monica months ago to schedule an appointment with Dr. Nikhar. Guess what? When we arrived for our appointment with Dr. Nikhar we had an appointment with an NP who was very good. She told us we NEVER had an appointment with him, we had an appointment with her. Watch out Maryland stay far away from this practice!!!!

I wouldn't recommend this doctor's office. The front desk staff aren't customer service oriented…read moreand I had a really bad experience with them. I gave them my new insurance card that has the same member ID as the old one but a different group number than my old card. After my appointment, I noticed that my bill was pretty high and saw I was charged $176 without my consent. This seemed really odd and I called my insurance. I found out they used my old insurance information from my older plan that is no longer active. That's why I owed the full amount. I called their billing department and gave them my new insurance information so they could resubmit with my new insurance information. They said this could take a month or two to process. We're getting close to two months and I have yet to get reimbursed the $176. I was recently told by one of the billing people that one of my claims is in appeal and may not get approved which means I may have to pay the full amount. I told them this was unacceptable given this wasn't my mistake but theirs. This whole thing is stressful and should have never happened. The front desk people need better training because this was a super careless mistake. I'm dealing with so many health issues I really don't need to worry about something else. I get the sense they're short staffed and need to hire more people. I switched to Capital Neurology and Sleep Medicine. My experience here has been a lot better. The front desk people have done ok and my new doctor explains things in detail, is kind and friendly.

To say this man saved my life would be an understatement. No one should HAVE to go to a neurologist. But, for those like me, where it's medically a necessity, this is the man to see. I'll admit, I'm a snob when it comes to medicine. It's a field I've dedicated my career and it's a field I take serious. I only choose those who are superior in their field. Not only does Dr. Kao know a lot about a lot of things, not only is he a researcher who is abreast of all the new therapies, not only does he have a compassionate bedside manner and talk to you, he's just a nice kind man all around. He's a genuine man, who even visits you bedside in the hospital, he guides your care, and is aggressive and thorough with treatment. He doesn't half any thing. He gives you his all. He even does the nerve conduction test (EMG) himself to ensure accuracy. When I was first told to come to him, I bubble snotty begged him to help me not get to the extreme. His response, "I won't. We'll do this together". His staff is great. Molly, the head nurse? Love, Love. I'm a busy person and she is diligent with the Follow-up. She ensures you don't skip through the crack regardless how busy you get. The front desk staff?? Love again. They even have an app to communicate your health status. I honestly don't want to recommend anyone to come to him. I've very possessive about him and honestly want to keep him to myself. He's literally the best kept secret. But, if you do need a neurologist, I MIGHT let you borrow mine. I MIGHT... no promises.
