poached eggs with halloumi, avocado, and pico de gallo on toast

Not sure how this restaurant is during lunch/ dinner, but cannot recommend their breakfast selection. The space and service is good, however I thought the food was mediocre and overpriced (although their drinks menu is quite inventive and I really enjoyed the latte I got).

We went here for brunch and it was ok. I got the golden latte which was pretty good. The brunch menu is not that amazing. I wish there was more of the roasted meats on there. It's mostly toast items. The service was good and we were seated very fast. The ambiance is pretty and much of it is Christmas themed decorated.

Mixed roast of beef, pork belly, and chicken

For our last lunch in Cork, Ireland, we thought it fitting to enjoy a Sunday roast. The Spit Jack is located right in the bustling heart of Cork. We made a same-day reservation without any trouble, thanks to the restaurant's spacious two-story dining facility. We were seated on the second floor. For the Sunday roast, diners can choose either a two- or three-course fixed-price meal. My partner and I decided to share both appetizers and main courses. For appetizers, we shared vegetable soup with bread and crispy fried calamari. For our main course, we chose the roast platter: two slices of beef, pork belly, and rotisserie chicken, served with mashed potatoes, bread, and carrots. It was a hearty meal--the roasts were delicious and generously portioned for two people. The Spit Jack provided the perfect setting for a lovely farewell lunch before we returned to London.

berries and mascarpone french toast, huevos rancheros

we came without a reservation around noon and were seated immediately in the upstairs section. they decorated really nicely for the holidays, and the atmosphere was festive and cozy. i ordered the berry and mascarpone french toast and my partner ordered the huevos rancheros. despite how busy they were, service was fast and they gave us multiple pitchers to refill our water with when they ran dry. i really enjoyed the berry french toast; it wasn't too sweet and the mascarpone really complimented the tartness of the berries. if you're looking for traditional huevos rancheros, you won't find them here. the food was quite good, but they do serve it with beans on (albeit high quality) toast. it was too tomato-based and slightly sweet for my partner, but he could acknowledge that the food was good, just not to his tastes. the portion sizes were hearty and the food was filling. a reservation is definitely a good idea.

Stopped in here during a very short pit stop on a day tour to Blarney. I wanted to get off the beaten path and away from the big tourist spots, and this place fit the bill. Not only did they turn out my food in under 40 minutes, my waitress Nancy was also very accommodating when I requested a switch of bread from the usual menu. The food was good as well, I had the chicken sandwich! Ambiance was lovely and it was quite and tucked away.

Delish breakfast. Had the smoked royale and the mixed berry French toast. We were seated right away and service was friendly and attentive.

    Extensive dessert menu!

Wonderful, small place, had pork belly and rack of ribs and did not disappoint. Fries were good too, as well as the cocktails

Fantastic food, great service! Was packed the night we arrived and we were lucky to have secured a table. One of the best meals of our trip.

The market is a bustling bee hive of produce farmers, butchers, chocolatiers, of local and organic fresh food to include spices and an abundance of gastro delights from afar. The all wood construction and arched ceiling of this 18th century building make it visually appealing to add to the sensory adventure of fresh and cooking food. Farmgate is a bit small as most European cafes are but was rich in its menu offerings! I made reservations via Open Table for lunch for myself and was greeted at the stairs as seating goes all around an atrium open air looking down on the market below. My server carefully considered my food intolerance to gluten and dairy and made sure I was ok with butter, the service was top notch, not rushed and not invasive as I sat and slowly sipped in the scenery and scents. I ordered a chicken with lentils, parsnips, and carrots and the chicken was herbed nicely, moist and succulent served over tasty lentils that were not bitter but light and full of flavor, buttery parsnips and carrots not overcooked. I had some extra vegetables as a replacement for the mashed potatoes as they have cream in them and the veggies were crisp and fresh. The menu options are extensive for the size of the kitchen and obviously benefit from having fresh seafood, butchers and produce downstairs such that they had some of everything on the menu! You can tell the cook/chef takes pride in his preparation and the presentation was artistic as well. The thick wooden tables and height ceilings gave this place a feeling of long standing history and the staff appeared pleased to work there in this historic setting, making good fresh local food to share. I highly recommend this cafe as a must do for Cork! The prices were very reasonable, the service and food came without an arduous wait, a memorable experience in a town of high food standards!

During our entire stay, as my friends had joined about 10 minutes after I was seated and had already ordered drinks, the employee just kept throwing glances and staring at us the entire time. We were all ordering, so it wasn't like we were holding a table hostage. We did get good service from the waiter, although he didn't come around as often, even when we were out of drinks. Kudos to the whisky sommelier for giving us great suggestions. It's a quirky bar/restaurant, but I'm not sure it would be worth a return trip. The employee with the attitude was really unnerving.

Finally, the musicians invited about six members of the audience to learn how to play the bodhrán. Overall the music quality was excellent. The food was also satisfying. I had the chicken and chorizo pie which came with a small side salad dressed in honey mustard and a small portion of roasted potatoes. My friends really enjoyed the pork ribs. The waitress was awesome she split the bill for our entire group!
