We had been meaning to go there for months having once passed it on a walk near Birchover. When we finally made it we were not disappointed and had one of the best lunchtime drinks in a long time. The regulars there were inclusive and entertaining and a right old laugh to be honest. The food was good (just a fish finger cob but the bacon butties looked tasty) and a realistic price not much over a couple of quid. The fire was lit and the landlord was cheery. I will be going back.

Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail. We'll definately be heading back soon (to the Royal Oak not Alton Towers, which is another story)!

With just 8 rooms (4 above the pub and 4 located in a cottage just a few steps away) the inn was so quaint. Our room was located in the cottage and it was huge! Also, it was equipped with plenty of water and snacks. The food was also fantastic in the pub. We had dinner both nights we were there and weren't disappointed. May I recommend whatever the soup of the day is and the sticky toffee pudding? YUMMY! Breakfast was also super impressive. The breads, croissants and fresh fruit were so fresh.
