This town centre pub was full of atmosphere when I visited this last Bank Holiday Sunday. Lying at the heart of historic Chipping Sodbury, I found the food great, the management and staff polite and fun and the locals very friendly. The bar is large and well laid out and the huge garden looks great for when (if?) the weather sorts itself out. The manager has introduced some very innovative weekly events to bring in custom which include Gluten Free and Vegetarian Tuesdays, with a new menu each week and Bring Your Own Wine Mondays. It is limited to just one bottle per dining couple which might not suit some, but its more than enough for me! It does smack a bit of Coals to Newcastle and bringing your own booze to a pub with the landlord's permission must be a bit of a first! (Note that there is no corkage charge). Long live the traditional English pub and using any means to keep them going has to be applauded. Lots of character, great dining, town centre convenience and delightful staffyou can't ask for more. Give The Squire Inn a whirl you won't regret it! read more
