Lovely little traditional pub that has been 'gastro-ised', it's has a really nice atmosphere with an open log fire, exposed cotswold stone and old oak beams etc. The staff were very friendly, but the kitchen was super slow, really could not get the food out. It wasn't terribly busy either, probably 16 guests including our party of 4 in the whole pub and we ordered relatively simple dishes too. We must have waited nearly an hour and a half after ordering!
The food was mediocre, mine was actually a little on the cold side.
I would expect a pub in such an isolated location to be something special in order to get return trade... I wasn't feeling it.
Choice of beers were limited too, in a traditional pub like this I expect to be able to get some really good local ales but unfortunately the closest they had was 6X.
Keep working at it, this place could be something special.. unfortunately not there yet. read more
