So Reflex eh? Well it was my friend's hen night and this was her choice of dancing venue after our…read moremeal, which made me a happy bunny. I do love them 80s tunes being an 80s child in all. When we walked through the pub Edward's via the Renfield Street entrance it was so cringy as the music was awful and the clientele was em.... Anyway, we headed up the stairs to Reflex and my ears loved me lots. The music is awesome and they have many teles dotted round the room playing them classic 80s music videos. It was brilliant but why you ask I only give it 3 stars. Well it was a Saturday night and it was mobbed. We were getting pushed about, people being rude to us and we ended up standing in the middle of the club trying to just find a wee spot we could huddle round and keep together. There was also other hen parties so it was pretty mental. It took ages to get served at the bar as they also sell crazy 80s accessories. Madonna boobs anyone?! We coudn't really dance much, there is a dance floor but you kinda wanted somewhere to put your stuff so felt we couldn't go up as were hanging onto our drinks and coats. I do really like this place and I would go back but maybe when it's not as mental. It's a good alternative compared to some of the dancing clubs you get in Glasgow. So get your Madonna boobs on and Vogue!

Booted out in some 80s gear we headed to Reflex and were immediately entranced by the tracks of the 80s. The videos of the songs are played on screens around the venue providing a giggle at some of those hairdos! With the drinks menu mainly consisting of cocktails we made our way through some interesting looking jugs (sadly they were not at 80s' prices - but about average really). We all got into the swing of it buying much of the novelty merchandise (I still have my "Frankie says Reflex" t-shirt). The crowd was mixed with a lot of older people who loked like they did belong in the 80s but they only added to the authenticity. We moved on after a while (seeking our noughties-comforts) but it was fun while it lasted - just like the 80s!

I know if I go to a spoons the food will be decent and considering the value for money you get it is a competitive place to go. We swung in here prior to hitting up the Odeon for a film, there were four of us and we ordered in couple but still got our food at the same time. I had a delicious gourmet chilidog which I took a photo of to upload but yelps mobile app on my backberry hates me so I cannot seem to do it, definitely the phone or apps fault not mine ;-* The chiiliedog was perfect, soft bun, well cooked hotdog and the chilli on top was fantastic, a little bit of spice but not so much that it hijacked everything else. I would definitely recommend it, but it was a big eat. The chips were also very nice, crisp on the outside fluffy on the inside and tasty throughout. Also as I always say in Wetherspoons reviews, get the onions rings they never let you down. In general the place was busy but not mobbed and we got pleasant efficient service which couldn't be faulted. Cheap drinks and cheap food which punches above its weight in terms of flavour. If you fancy something simlpe or something a wee bit cheaper that the other places within x-scape this is a great alternative to TGI etc.

I don't go out in Paisley very often but I was asked to go to Caffufals for a quiz night which a…read morefriend's boyfriend had organized as part of his uni course. I'm not sure exactly what his course is though, quizometry perhaps? It was a Tuesday night and the place was a nice level of busy, not empty but not packed either, juuuust right. The quiz event was held in what is called the Living Room where the atmosphere is chilled out with sofas and big TV screens. They also have a room called the Playroom where you can play your friends on the Xbox in some cool gaming chairs. This room looks a lot like the kind of living room boy students would have in their flats! Just off the Living Room is an area known as the Rack which is filled with plenty of pool tables. The tables are all still in good nick as well since Caffufals hasn't been open very long. None of those strange damp patches, worn away areas and missing balls, yet! There is a separate girls only pool room which is garishly pink but the Rack looks more appealing to be honest! This area is called Absolute Angels which is a pretty tacky and naff, but at least it's a nice idea to have a girl's area I guess. Caffufals does sell food and cocktails as well as the expected alcoholic fare. Unfortunately I never sampled either of these. I was on the orange juice when I was there so that I wasn't impeded by alcohol during my quest for quiz glory! I'm not sure what Caffufals would be like as a Friday or Saturday night venue when they have a DJ and drinking and dares style games. It doesn't sound like my kind of thing but for your average 18 year old who enjoys the likes of Campus in Glasgow, Caffufals sounds like a similar place at the weekends. I really liked Caffufals on the Tuesday night I went as the people there were around my age and the atmosphere was relaxed and not too in your face for a week night. I don't imagine the same could be said for the weekends though from looking at the website! In case you're wondering, we came second in the quiz! Better than that though, we won first place for the best team name competition. Our team name? It was "Can I get pregnant if you quiz in my arse?"

Upon entering I grabbed a pint of coke (I'm hardcore that way) and headed over to the pool tables where my friends ha already started playing. Since it's the holidays and it was the middle of the day, the venue was fairly quiet, probably around 10 people including ourselves and the bar staff, so we had the place to ourselves. A short while after, it was my turn for pool and as I maneuvered round the table I caught a strong smell of gas (not me, I promise) so I went and told the bar staff who immediately looked worried and asked me where it was and said, I'll be right over to check it out. TEN minutes later she came over and checked it (not that worried were you, dear?) Apparently there is a small cupboard nearby which has some sort of gassy thing in it which wasn't turned off, very good eh? Gas crisis averted, I went to the loo, nothing unusual there...except the toilet rolls are held with massive chains on the back of the toilet wall, which by the way...if you're of the female persuasion is a bit awkward. That much thought or effort should never have to be put into going to the toilet. Just sayin'. Over all? MEH.
