The pub is beautiful and cosy, the landlady was kind and cheerful and the food.....oh god, the food! We both had a starter of pigeon, not something you usually see on a pub menu and it was superbly cooked and tasted amazing. For my main I chose the steak burger with chips and onion rings, the burger was big, flavoursome and juicy and the touch I like is that the tomato ketchup on table was all homemade, not from a bottle! We will certainly come back to this awesome place if we are ever near the area again because it was outstanding!!

Despite being very busy, we were greeted warmly and with a smiles. The food was excellent, freshly made & cooked on the premises and at a very reasonable price. The beer is superbly kept and the overall atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We will definately be going again, and have no hesitation in recommending this. The Station was absolutely packed and looked a bit too fancy for us (we were in cycle gear). The Railway was the perfect fit. The atmosphere was cozy and warm with locals in their 30+ enjoying a Friday night pint. There were quite a few people here, but it wasn't too loud and the football wasn't on (a plus for us). I was initially hesitant about the food as pub food can be so hit and miss, but this place was AMAZING! My favorite dish was the homemade nachos with chili. I have never had homemade nachos and we should have ordered a dish each as we didnt want to share they were so good. My husband had the BBQ ribs, which were fantastic. Overall, it was a very appreciated warm meal at the end of a long day!

I'll explain why and try to be concise. The cuisine is exceptional. There's a good selection of quality drinks. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming -- the sort of place where complete strangers tend to strike-up conversation. The location is perfect, overlooking the Village Green, with a big beer garden behind, and a vast playing field behind that. It's a lovely village, nestled in the gently-undulating farming landscape of rural north-east Herts -- no wonder Braughing was recently awarded the prestigious "Village of the Year" accolade. The pub's menu always includes the best of local produce, from locally-reared beef to local pork sausages, alongside popular country pub dishes. (Braughing village is famous for, among other things, the delicious local sausages, and this is a good place to sample them.) Did I mention the pies? Very family friendly, we have been here for Sunday lunch many times (whole family plus dog) and for date night dinners. Always a friendly service; another great pub we are lucky to have in the near neighbourhood. It is usually pretty busy so booking ahead at weekends probably a good idea.

The inn is 15th century and retains so many of the old features such as cut-outs in the wall to display the wattle and daub construction of the walls. The flagstone floors are lovely as well. The Admans ale is the best in Britain, hands down, although I do not recall whether this is a "tied" house. I remember, a few decades ago, watching the marriage of Charles and Diana on the telly in the bar and getting plastered with the locals. This place is as traditional as it gets. The last time I was there I saw no fruit machines and I doubt any have appeared since then. A Suffolk treasure beyond measure.
