These movers were the cheapest ones I could find, and I should have paid more for better ones…read more When they arrived, I had everything neatly organized in my home. The heaviest things were on the bottom, and fragile boxes were set completely aside. I pointed out the fragile boxes specifically when they arrived. I then left them to the work - I thought it would be rude to micromanage them. When I arrived at my destination and started unloading things, their shoddy packing job became clear. I didn't include pictures of everything, but the ones I did include give a good idea. The back wall of boxes was at least orderly, but boxes were turned upside down for no apparent reason, fragile boxes were placed on the bottom of the pile and smashed, and heavy boxes of books were placed on the top. Furniture was placed on top of boxes, smashing them and their contents. As you can see in the picture, packing after that first row apparently became a game of trying to turn and jam boxes wherever they would fit. The bottom of one sofa was torn along with one of the springs. At first, I couldn't tell how it happened. When I discovered that the fabric was caught in the wood of a table that was behind it, I pieced together that they must have put the sofa in first and then tried to jam the table behind it without moving it to avoid damage. A TV console's top was torn off on one side due to incorrect lifting. With professional packing, there would have been enough foresight to avoid all of these issues. I knew that I wasn't going to be getting the best service with the cheapest movers, and I was willing to accept a certain amount of dings and scrapes. But the damage to my items was far beyond what is reasonable to expect regardless of the price paid. The fact that the movers were friendly is not enough to make up for the fundamental failure to provide the service paid for.

Very clean and has the most helpful staff…read more I had a GIANT rug I was trying to move in to a unit by myself and without me asking the manager (I assume) decided to grab a cart, help me load the rug onto it, and then into my unit. He even climbed into my unit to shuffle things around so we could make the rug fit! I was very surprised at how hands on they are with helping their customers. The man at the front desk was also very helpful as I had several questions for him. When I didn't know what size unit to lease, he walked me around the facility showing me different sizes so I could know which one I needed. I would highly recommend this facility to my family and friends.

I had an issue with the keys to my locks not working properly (likely my fault for getting them mixed up or something) and Denise immediately solved the problem by cutting off the old locks, installing new ones that had matching keys & held onto an extra set of keys in the office should I put myself in another bind. Upon being able to open the lock on one of our 3 units, I was unable to open the door. My previous movers had stacked boxes in such a way that they collapsed. Ronnie went out of his way to get the door open, take the boxes out and restack everything properly. They are always riding the property with cold water on hand for customers that are working in their units. I really can't say enough about this facility other than the fact that I am really going to miss them when we get our units cleared out this week! if you are looking for a storage facility in Tuscaloosa, you won't regret using this group! Westgate Storage was one of several storage units recommended by our movers. I chose Westgate…read moremainly based on available unit size and price. Since we needed a 10x30, I wanted a location that offered that size, rather than having to get a 10x20 and a 10x10. The 10x30 was $260/month, which seemed reasonable for climate controlled storage. One major bonus of Westgate is that it's literally a drive-in warehouse, so you aren't out in the elements while accessing your unit. This came in handy, as we moved out of our unit in the rain. The paperwork is pretty standard, but the way they handle things is that from the date you rent the unit, you have 7 days to move in. If you don't move in, they cancel your lease. Rent is pro-rated when you move in, but not on the way out -- they charge every month on the first, so plan accordingly. Overall it was clean, well-maintained, secure, and easy to access. I'd say this is as good as self-storage gets!
