Small little mom and pop operation...yup, it's one of those roadside stands. Fresh organic strawberries picked daily and grown within site of the stand. Prices are only slightly higher than most grocery stores but the quality is unmatched. No machines here, everything by hand and with a smile. Unlike grocery store berries that are grown for shipping and shelf life, these are some of the best berries around...this also make them very delicate. And since they are pesticide free, you might have company. Sometimes their hours vary due to growing conditions. They also take orders and provide to some of the local restaurants and bakeries. Lots of parking but it's on gravel/dirt. Come in summer or fall and the produce stand next door will be open. I often swing by for corn. If you can't swing by here or it's out of your way, stop by a roadside strawberry stand in you way home. It's a completely different world from the "Costco" strawberries.

They also shut down multiple streets during the market, so be aware that you may get redirected depending on which way you're driving in or leaving. There are lots of pet dogs everywhere, so consider yourself warned. If you're not a dog person, this might not be your vibe. But if you are, it's such a fun place to see the cutest dogs of all different breeds, or even bring your own along. They have so many vendors, from fresh flowers, produce, and meats to local organizations, museums, live music, and, most importantly, food. I love the variety of food you can try, and there are plenty of samples throughout the market. They also have a small kiddie play area, which is a nice bonus if you're bringing little ones. Just be prepared because it gets hot, there is no seating, and people can sometimes be rude or get a little too close in the crowds. That's pretty typical anywhere with a large gathering, though. Overall, I really like this specific farmers market because there's so much to see and do that it's actually worth making a trip out for. This was my first time here and won't be my last.

What makes this farmers market so special is that there's truly something for everyone. Many of the produce vendors have been staples for our family for years. You can find fresh vegetables, eggs, local crawfish, chicken, meat, bread, pastries, plants, dates, flowers..you name it, and it's probably there. The vendors are always welcoming, and there's such a great sense of community. It's wonderful to see so many people coming together to support local farmers, makers, and small businesses. After a few weeks of nothing, I sent an email to inquire. Maceo responded very politely and friendly saying it must have gotten mixed up and they would deliver the rest. Some more time goes by and still nothing. So I email again saying the other boxes had still not been received. Maceo again apologizes and says the 3 boxes will be delivered over the next 3 weeks. Great! However, more weeks go by and again nothing shows up. So I get fed up, text Maceo and respectfully explain that I would just like a partial refund. He is apologetic and agrees. But... no refund ever comes. I text again after more than a week goes by without seeing any refund and get no reply. I am not sure what their deal is. I'm very disappointed and frustrated by the experience and hope it will eventually be resolved. The worst part of all is my brother missed out on this potentially cool gift that I spent time researching and thought would be so fun and unique.
