Ive had this restaurant bookmarked on Yelp for quite some time, so I figured it was time I finally went it. They are located in a small complex with lots of parking available. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available, a lot more than it would appear prior to walking in. It seems like it is run by a husband and wife duo. The wife services the guests while the husband is the chef. Browsing the menu there were so many options to choose from. We decided on getting the 5 course meal which is $52 per person. Because there is only one chef the food sometimes took awhile to come out. However the quality and presentation was beyond incredible. First course was salmon sashimi three ways. This was very unique because even though it had the same fish, it tasted completely different in each type. They had regular, seared, and ceviche. All were very tasty. Next came the pork belly. I didn't try the sauce as it had honey and I'm allergic however the food was delicious. Perfectly crispy outer edge with soft inside. Third course was prawn tempura. They were jumbo!! They also came with green beens tempura and a wasabi mayo sauce I didn't try. Next was the duck. I cannot elaborate enough about how fantastic the duck tasted. Everything was cooked so wonderfully with the sauces and sides. One of the best duck dishes Ive ever eaten!! We complimented the chef when we were finished. The last course was dessert and I can't remember what it was called. It had a very interesting taste but similar to an ice cream parfait. However we did not mind waiting at all for it. They even added a special touch and wrote Happy Birthday to me in English and Japanese. Such a sweet gesture! On a Monday, they're relatively empty, too, in this place popular with tourists who come for weekend trips. I was only there a couple days but was thrilled to dine at Glass, a stunning waterfront restaurant with a classily cool interior. The meal was magnificent, one of my favorite pasta dishes I've had. The sun-dried tomato arancini starter ($13.9 AUD) with mozzarella and gremolata was tasty -- perfectly fried little balls of risotto heaven ideal to share for two. All the tapas sounded fantastic, from the wild mushroom and truffle croquettes and tempura zucchini flowers, to the panko crumbed eggplant wedges. If I were to go again, I would probably split several tapas dishes. For my main, I got a veggie rigatoni ($28.9) drenched in a tasty tomato sauce, with zucchini, onions, cherry tomatoes and heaping hunks of feta cheese. Every bite was amazing, and the portion was impressively huge for a fine dining restaurant. The squid ink seafood risotto ($31.9) was another generous portion and came with calamari, shrimp, fish, lobster and scallop. It was a seafood lover's heaven and smelled marvelous. Service was impeccable, from host to server to food runner. I loved the Alkoomi reisling ($9.5), which was a sweetly wonderful pairing for the pasta and arancini. TL; DR The most rude 'service' (more like sarcasm) I have ever received in my entire life at a…read morerestaurant. Try at your own risk. We made a booking a week in advance with the 'special occasion: date night' note. On the night, we called the restaurant to inform that we were running 10 minutes late. No problems. When we arrived, there was a queue of people in front of us. Unfortunately it didn't take long for the excitement to turn into a big time disappointment. After a short wait, our turn came. 5 awkward minutes passed by without 'hi' or even an eye contact by the receptionist. She must be reading breaking news on her tablet. Red flag #1. A tall, white and bald wait staff brought us to the table at a corner. When we asked if there was any chance we could move to one of the tables with the water view, we were told they were all taken. Fair enough. When we asked again if we could move to one if it becomes available throughout the night, the waiter told us that we stay at the same table once seated and that is how it works at the restaurant. Shocker. Surprised, I told him that this is the first time I visited a place with such a rule and that it doesn't commonly happen in Melbourne. His reply: 'I was in Melbourne for 15 years' to which I said 'I've been in Melbourne for 20 years'. At this point, I was convinced he was getting emotional. Red flag #2. As he walked off, I followed on and said 'it is alright, I am sure you are trying your best.' to which he whimpers 'and you are not'. Yeah he was pissed and amateur enough he couldn't hide it. Another wait staff, a white lady who seemed pregnant, approached us to pour some tap water. Still trying to comprehend the unreasonable rudeness by the bald waiter, I asked the lady if that is how things work around us. She flat out ignored us and walked away. Must be the wife of the other waiter. Red flag #3. After 3 minutes according to my watch, she walked towards us again. Perhaps she could answer my question I thought to myself. Nope. She just wanted to sell drinks. To be fair, nothing wrong with that, except all of the staff at Omeros seemed to have forgotten they are in the 'hospitality' industry to 'serve' the patrons. At this point I feel sorry for Omeros brothers as a fellow businessman. I just cannot imagine having such staff myself. We informed them that we couldn't find anything to eat and that we were sorry to leave. The bald waiter once again showed a great display of who's the boss by saying 'please don't be sorry, we are thankful.' ... before starting to whimper once again with an inaudible voice criticizing my attitudes. It is possible that we've somehow got under his skin, or that both staff were having a particularly bad night, or perhaps that they were just racists. Who knows. I just wish that others won't have to ruin their nights because of these guys at Omeros.
