My husband ordered Bob's pie and I had the Butternut squash curry. We both loved our meals. The service was not what we are accustomed to as Americans, however, it seems decent for Britain. read more
My mum and I had lunch at the Sutton Arms when we visited nearby Scawby Hall. The pub was recommended on their the Scawby Hall website, so we thought we would give it a go as we didn't know the area very well. We were relieved to discover that it was a great find! They have a bar area at the front and restaurant at the rear, which is where we sat for lunch. It was really busy for a weekday lunchtime, which we took as a great sign. The staff were all really helpful and accommodating. It is table service, so they come to the table to take your food and drinks order. My mum ordered the scampi and chips and I had salmon filet with new potatoes. The menu is large, with pub classics as well as a few fish dishes and specials. I was really impressed. The prices were great as well. My mum loved her scampi and gave it 5/5! I really enjoyed my salmon, the seasoned crust on the top was tasty, but it was a tiny bit over cooked/dry for me. It still tasted great, but I'd have taken it out the oven a bit sooner! I was just happy to have been a healthier option, which isn't always the case with local pubs. They have lots of pies on the menu, so I definitely would like to go back and try those. read more

Been going to this pub for their fantastic food for about a quarter of a century and only had duff chips once. To put that into perspective, their chips are old fashioned cooiked in lard/beef-dripping chips so taste absolutely fantastic so when perfection drops ever so slightly, you notice and once in 25 years ain't bad. The rest of the food is consistently excellent their beef pies are fantastic, hand made with real pastry; their Haddock is to die for, coming straight from the port of Grimsby, just a few miles up the road. So, maybe the first reviewer was REALLY unlucky and brought their friends on that one day out of 25 years when they slipped I think those odds are worth risking for the best meal you will have in a pub around here. read more

first time my partner and i went to sutton arms in scawby we had a lovely sunday lunch. However a few months later we returned with a party of people and was very disappointed with our food it was no where as nice as our first visit we was very disappointed especially as we had recommended the food. such a pity as the pub itself is a little gem and the staff are all very friendly. read more

I too have been going to the Sutton Arms for many years. Since the change of ownership the food quality had dropped, there has been some improvement and customer comments cards must have helped. The food now seems inconsistent as though there is one good chef and one poor one. As a consequence the pub appears to be struggling, the buzzing atmosphere has gone, however the prices have fallen somewhat . Give it a try, it would be a shame to lose this pub!!! read more
